Mamelodi Sundowns' Mbule warned

Mamelodi Sundowns star Sipho Mbule has left Junior Khanye rather worried.
As confirmed before the start of the season, Sundowns sent the 27-year-old Mbule on loan to Sekhukhune United. After 18 appearances, including two goals and three assists, the club has decided to release Mbule for alleged misconduct.
During the 2022/2023 season, the Bethlehem-born star was punished by Sundowns for reporting to training under the influence of alcohol.
'Sundowns have a few contracts coming to an end in June and the club will be using the coming weeks to make decisions on who to keep and let go of,' Soccer Laduma reported. 'One of the players who is unlikely to stay at the club is midfielder Sipho Mbule, who was sent out on loan to Sekhukhune United.
'Indications are that Sekhukhune are letting the player go before the end of the season following another alleged incident of ill-discipline,' the outlet added.
'A couple of months ago, Mbule had to meet up with management following an incident with a technical team member, which was resolved.'
'It's disappointing and it hurts because I love Sipho Mbule. These days, football is not about talent only, they look at all the dynamics,' Khanye told Kick Off.
'This boy is talented, why he is doing all this is shocking. The reason Sundowns sent him to Sekhukhune is because of such behaviour and not because of talent.
'This is painful because (a) majority of footballers are breadwinners at home. The saddest part is he will not remain at the age he is currently in for long.
'He has already dented his reputation from Sundowns, it's just that back then in Rulani Mokwena he had a coach who was always on his side.
'I don't know how many chances he wants because he saw what happened to the likes of us. It took me about 10 years to get a deal again.
'Every time I gave clubs a call, the response I'd get would be: 'Yes, you are talented, but unfortunately we cannot risk about you'. What players don't understand is that these coaches and club directors do talk to each other about players. These teams work very closely.
'Sipho is killing his career, no team will risk with him. It will take God and his ancestors to save his career, not a human being. He might not play professionally again. I see him spending at least six months without a team.
'I see him taking the same path the likes of us experienced,' Khanye concluded.
IS JUNIOR KHANYE RIGHT?

WP appoint former Proteas speedster as head coach

The Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) has announced the appointment of Rory Kleinveldt as Western Province men's head coach on a three-year contract. Kleinveldt returns to Newlands after a successful stint in the UK as Lead Bowling Coach for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club. The 42-year-old's appointment follows the departure of former head coach, Salieg Nackerdien, who concluded his tenure at the end of the 2024/25 season. Kleinveldt, former Cape Cobras and Western Province legend, is no stranger to the WPCA setup, having served as Assistant Coach under Nackerdien from 2022 to 2024. Prior to his transition into coaching, Kleinveldt enjoyed a distinguished 17-year career, debuting for Western Province in 2002/03. He featured in 148 First-Class, 181 List-A, and 163 T20 matches, earning Proteas caps across all formats. After retiring in 2019, he transitioned into coaching, initially as Assistant Coach for WP before taking on the role of Interim Bowling Coach for the Proteas in 2023/24. His recent experience as Leading Bowling Coach at Northamptonshire CC further honed his expertise. WPCA CEO, Corrie van Zyl, said: 'We are very excited about the appointment of Rory as Head Coach as we believe that he will enhance the current team culture and strategy set by Salieg and the WP Men's team. Rory has a very good understanding of the team dynamics and the refinements it needs to become consistent winners.' 'Rory has been part of this team in recent years. We believe this will ensure a smooth transition while establishing his own performance objectives for the team. These objectives will align to the overall company goal of winning performances. The WP Men's Team aims to be a dominant force in South African cricket. Rory's appointment is an important step towards achieving this goal.' Kleinveldt couldn't hold his excitement: 'It's a great privilege to be coming back to Western Province as Head Coach and I'm extremely excited to get things underway.' 'Having represent the province in a 20+ career as a player and assistant coach it's a big honour for me to be part of this organisation. I feel ready for this challenge and it's an opportunity for me to build on the success of this proud union. As a coach I'm always learning through my journey and my goals moving into this position are to instil a winning culture the supporters of Western Province can watch and be proud of.' WPCA President Johannes Adams added: 'Rory's appointment reflects our commitment to excellence. His blend of local insight and international experience makes him the ideal candidate to inspire our players.' Pitso Mosimane's legacy: How he shaped Mamelodi Sundowns' dominance in SA football

Although it's been five years since Pitso Mosimane left Mamelodi Sundowns, his legacy as coach of the dominant team in South Africa is still very much alive. Mosimane led Sundowns to five league titles in a row, which the club under different coaches have extended to a record eight in succession. Mosimane also won five cup trophies and the CAF Champions League title with Sundowns in 2016. Though one can't discredit current Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso as the reigning Betway Premiership champions, it's difficult to imagine that Sundowns would be where they are now without the foundation Mosimane built while at the club. Former Sundowns defender Wayne Arendse, who was also at the club from 2012 to 2020 alongside Mosimane, explained the impact the tactician had on the Brazilians.

North African side table R5.6M bid for Kaizer Chiefs striker target!

Kaizer Chiefs have made it no secret that they're trying to sign a prolific striker ahead of next season. Chiefs' goal scoring woes have been well documented over the past three seasons and they hope to fix that. Subsequently there have been quite a few attackers linked with Chiefs going into the next season. This as a sign of what they're trying to fix in the final third. Amakhosi, however, have seen the likes of Fiston Mayele, Etiosa Ighodaro, Robert Polievka mentioned as strikers. In the wingers department Oswin Appollis, Elias Mokwana, Mihlali Mayambela and Keletso Makgalwa have been touted. It was rumoured, however, that coach Nasreddine Nabi had travelled to Egypt to try and convince Mayele to join. This after he had reportedly convinced Feisal Salum to sign for Chiefs ahead of the new season. During that trip to Tanzania the Tunisian-born mentor was seen attending game featuring Simba SC and Sinigida. Now earlier in the week this publication revealed that Chiefs held a 'secret meeting' to sign Steven Dese Mukwala of Simba. Now according to Soccer-Laduma , citing reports from the continent, Chiefs might lose him to RS Berkane. 'According to a report from Africafoot , Mukwala, who currently plays for Tanzanian giants Simba SC, is drawing growing interest from North Africa. A highly-placed source has confirmed that RS Berkane have submitted a $300,000 (approx. R5.6 million) bid for the player – a figure that may now set the benchmark for any club hoping to land the 24-year-old. Kaizer Chiefs, who are in the market for a proven goal scorer, see Mukwala as a potential solution to their ongoing issues in front of goal. But with RS Berkane's $300,000 (R5.6 million) offer on the table, Amakhosi will now need to decide whether they are willing to match – or better – the bid to secure the services of the prolific Ugandan. As things stand, Mukwala remains under contract at Simba, and any move will likely require swift negotiations and a competitive financial package. Chiefs' pursuit is far from over – but the race has undeniably become a lot more competitive.' Wrote the publication. Chiefs fans, should the club fight Berkane to get Mukwala's signature?
