Bengaluru BJP MP Tejasvi Surya proposes 15-point plan to fix Bengaluru's infrastructure
BENGALURU: Bengaluru South BJP MP Tejasvi Surya has come up with a comprehensive 15-point plan aimed at addressing Bengaluru's worsening infrastructure, mobility, and governance challenges.
In a letter to Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on May 24, the MP stated that he could not take part in the meeting of MPs and MLAs from Bengaluru on urgent issues concerning the city's infrastructure as he is currently part of an all-party delegation visiting the US to convey India's message against terrorism after the Pahalgam terror attack and 'Operation Sindoor'.
Surya offered short-term and medium-term solutions to tackle the city's problems. He recommended a 60-day priority plan to restore ward-wise footpaths and drains, scientific remapping of stormwater drains, and congestion relief on 12 high-traffic corridors.
He favoured formation of a war-room for real-time coordination of roadwork and debris clearance. In his 60-180-day medium-term plan, the MP stressed the need for expansion of Metro services with fast-tracked execution and weekly reviews.
He referred to the addition of 4,500 electric buses under the PM-eBus Sewa Scheme to enhance last-mile connectivity. The MP suggested measures such as phasing out old vehicles, implementing staggered institutional timings, and enforcing strict lane discipline to ease traffic congestion in the city. He proposed the formation of 'Bengaluru 2050 Vision Group', a dedicated think-tank covering urban mobility, water management, heritage, environment, and design.
This group could craft a long-term vision, 'Bengaluru 2050', to focus on sustainable growth, ecological protection, and integrated urban planning beyond short-term solutions. Among structural reforms, Surya called for operationalisation of BMLTA with a full-time managing director and leadership appointments at K-RIDE and BMRCL to strengthen Bengaluru's public transport systems. He called for shifting focus from expensive road projects to public transit expansion.

Jaipur: Former chief minister Sunday criticised the Bhajan Lal govt for frequent power cuts in the state. In a post on X, he said, "When the BJP govt in Rajasthan completed one year, they loudly proclaimed that Rajasthan was a surplus state in terms of electricity. Highlighting achievements, Nagar said over 1,000 MW of solar power had been integrated into the state grid in the past 18 months, and projects worth more than 10,000 MW were in the pipeline. Rajasthan was set to receive 4,000 MW of battery storage support from the Union government, he said, adding that BJP govt completed 80 GSS projects.

Revanth Reddy releases Bandaru Dattatreya's autobiography, calls him ‘Ajata Shatruvu'
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday released the autobiography of Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, titled 'Prajala Kathe-Naa Atma Katha', at Shilpakala Vedika in Hyderabad. The event witnessed the participation of several prominent leaders, including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Naidu, former President Ramnath Kovind and former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu who heaped praise on Dattatreya's public life and legacy. Speaking at the book launch, the Chief Minister described Dattatreya as an 'Ajata Shatruvu', one who has no enemies, and likened him to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He said that the Haryana Governor stands as a role model for budding leaders, having risen from humble beginnings in Gowliguda, a small locality in Hyderabad, to occupy high constitutional office while maintaining close ties with the people. The Chief Minister made interesting comments on his political journey, describing it as 'Schooling in the BJP, college in the TDP, and now working with Rahul Gandhi'. 'I never hide my relationships,' Mr. Revanth Reddy said, adding that he had close ties with the families of both Mr. Dattatreya and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy.. He said, 'Leaders cutting across the political lines admire whether or not he holds power,' citing the annual 'Alai Balai' event hosted by Dattatreya. The Chief Minister also said that his government draws inspiration from leaders like P. Janardhan Reddy (PJR) and Dattatreya in making people-centric decisions. Naidu described Dattatreya as the embodiment of a true gentleman and lauded his commitment to secularism and public welfare despite working as Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh pracharak, stating that his 'letters to the Chief Minister' reflect both purpose and principle. 'Dattatreya is fondly called as simply Dattanna. He is an Ajata Shatruvu,' Naidu added. Naidu also showered praises on Dattatreya. He said such leaders exemplify value-based public service. 'Those who violate democratic norms must be rejected through democratic means,' he said. Reddy, Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, former Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana, and Governors Jishnu Dev Varma (Telangana), S. Abdul Nazeer (Andhra Pradesh), Kambhampati Haribabu (Odisha) and N. Indrasena Reddy (Tripura) were among the dignitaries present. This autobiography chronicles Dattatreya's seven-decade journey, from helping his mother sell onions in Gowliguda to becoming an RSS pracharak, his involvement in relief work during the 1977 Diviseema cyclone, his arrest during the Emergency, and his tenure as a Union Minister and now as Governor.

New Delhi: The success of one month of Operation Sindoor was celebrated on Saturday, June 7 evening. The Defense Ministry has given permission to the armed forces to buy long-range missiles, artillery shells, kamikaze drones and air-to-air missiles. The report said that India's Rafale fighter jets, S-400 missile systems and M777 guns performed well. The Russian air defense system shot down three enemy aircraft. Reports also revealed that India destroyed a Chinese LY-80 fire radar. Also, two AN TPQ-43 US radars and a Chinese HQ-9 radar unit were destroyed. The attack was carried out on May 10 at Chaklala. The Pakistan Army used PL-15 missile. It is made in China and has a range of 180 kilometers. Pakistan merged a 250-kilometer range HQ 9 air defense system with a 150-kilometer range system. This was done at Chaklala and Malir Cantonment near Karachi. They wanted to surprise the Indian Air Force. The action report revealed that the IAF fired 19 BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles on Pakistan's air base. Along with this, almost the same number of French SCALP subsonic cruise missiles were also fired. Pakistan fired CM-400 AKG air-launched supersonic missiles. They used JF-17 fighter jets. But these missiles could not do any damage. Pakistan also used YIHA loitering ammunition made in Turkey. Indian electronic warfare systems jammed them. Some missiles missed their target. The rest were shot down by India's air defense system. Pakistan also fired FATAH-1 rockets. They too either missed the target or were intercepted by Indian air defence systems.
