I watch Friends everyday and these are the best and worst characters
Two decades after its final episode, Friends continues to be a timeless classic.
I've watched the sitcom so many times that I'm confident I could recite numerous scenes verbatim. Regrettably, I wasn't able to watch the series during its original run – being just a toddler at the time – but viewing it retrospectively still provides plenty of enjoyment.
Given that I revisit the show daily, I reckon I'm equipped to definitively rank the best and worst characters among the central six.
However, before I delve into it, it's crucial to clarify that this list isn't based on who is the nicest friend or the one I identify with most. Rather, I'm ranking them based on entertainment value and those I could easily do without.
So, here are all the Friends characters, ranked, reports the Daily Star.
6. Rachel Green
Rachel Green remains one of Jennifer Aniston's best roles to date, but I can't stand this character. Much of her behaviour in the first two seasons of the show is selfish and out of touch. And justifiably so, she has just run away from a life of privilege to one of slightly less privilege.
However, it was Rachel's hostility towards Ross' girlfriend Julie that made me her biggest hater. At this point in the sitcom, she had just discovered that Ross has been harbouring a crush for her. But she couldn't confront him because he was on a work trip to China.
Unsure of her feelings, she decides to meet him at the airport when he returns, and is stunned to see Julie on his arm.
From there begins Rachel's cruel and completely unjustified treatment of the innocent woman. I completely understand the pain of having a crush on someone you can't have, but there's never an excuse to mistreat strangers. The season 1 finale made me anti-Rachel and I stand firm in my opinion.
5. Monica Geller
If Monica Geller disappeared from Friends would you notice? Of course, but would you care? I know I wouldn't bat an eyelid.
Courtney Cox's impeccable comedic timing was wasted on this 'Type A' character whose plotlines always failed to captivate me. Like the rest of the ensemble, she served a purpose in the group's dynamic. But the marriage-obsessed clean freak persona didn't quite strike a chord with me.
That being said, she undoubtedly had the best romance in the entire 10-season show, although I can't tell if that's only because she was paired up with one of my favourite characters.
4. Phoebe Buffay
In fourth place comes the people's princess, Phoebe Buffay. I would argue that she is the most considerate friend of this bunch, despite having had the harshest upbringing. Lisa Kudrow expertly delivers every single one of Phoebe's bizarre lines, which never fail to make me cackle. What's more, she might just have the greatest discography in sitcom history.
3. Joey Tribbiani
As the 'himbo' of the group, Joey provides a warmth that makes Friends my comfort show.
While his storyline as a struggling actor who can barely survive on his own seems unimportant, it balances Ross's grown-up persona and brings out Chandler's soft side.
I can't say I'm fond of his womanizer ways, but even those subplots keep me hooked. I may have been won over by Matt LeBlanc's charm, but Joey is a firm-favourite of mine.
2. Ross Geller
Landing in second place is Ross Geller, otherwise known as the most underrated character in the whole series. Ross is often branded as a terrible friend and partner (ahem, they were on a break), but he is arguably one of the most entertaining sitcom characters ever.
From his iconic 'pivot' scene to his dodgy tan and horrendous leather trousers, Ross consistently has hilarious storylines.
And when he becomes a parent, the palaeontologist somehow gets even funnier. I mean, singing Baby Got Back to soothe your new-born is just comedy gold. But for all of David Schwimmer's efforts, it is ultimately the late Matthew Perry who takes the crown.
1. Chandler Bing
The late actor, who tragically died in 2023, struck gold with the role of Chandler Bing. His biting sarcasm always lands for me, and I would assume it's the same for most British viewers.
As if his iconic one-liners aren't enough, Chandler is also painfully relatable. From having a dysfunctional upbringing to having strange (but hilarious) exes, he is the king of Friends.

G-Dragon launches Zo&Friends pop-up in Hong Kong, inspired by his own cat
Ahead of G-Dragon's concerts in Hong Kong, the K-pop star's pet cat takes over our city with the Zo&Friends pop-up in Times Square. Inspired by his Scottish fold named Princess Zoa, GD has spent two years creating and designing this original IP, and the results can't be any cuter. A large Zoa sits in the middle of Times Square's second-floor atrium, surrounded by flowers and the daisy A&ne. According to the brand, Zoa looks cynical and even somewhat gloomy (it has a literal cloud hanging over its eyes) but hides a soft, gentle nature. Walk through and snap pictures at photo spots, explore Zoa's room, and see plenty of artworks, decals, BTS captures, and more. Of course, what's a good pop-up without some merch to bring home? There'll be a range of Zo&Friends products on sale, such as soft toys, plush keychains, kitchenware, rugs, stickers, and wearable accessories. Visitors will need to register online before being allowed access to the pop-up store – make sure you get there early to queue up. Visit GD's cute cat and his daisy friend from now until August 31.

Woman opens pocket of Vinted jacket and is gobsmacked by item inside
When a woman opened the pockets of the jacket she purchased, she was left gobsmacked to find an item, wondering how the person who sent it hadn't missed it yet The woman couldn't believe what was in the parcel (Stock Image) ( Getty Images/iStockphoto) A woman was left gobsmacked when she opened the pocket of a Vinted jacket and found something shocking inside. Vinted can be a treasure trove for fantastic bargains, with many brand new items for sale with tags, but there are tonnes of things which have been worn too that just need a new home and a new owner to love the item. When Rachel, who posts on TikTok as @rachel_vintagemoonstone, purchased a jacket, she decided to check the pockets of it as it had been worn before – and she discovered her "most bizarre Vinted find ever" and found herself having to contact the seller. "I have just found something in a Vinted parcel that I have never found before, and my mind is slightly blown," Rachel admitted. READ MORE: {{title}} She continued: "I don't quite understand how someone forgets that this particular thing is in this particular item." Rachel held up the "super lovely jacket" which she bought "from Vinted," saying she was trying to get a bit of a winter wardrobe together. But when she checked the pockets just to see whether everything was in order, she got a massive surprise. Rachel explained she was going to put it in the wash, but then "literally found 50 quid" in cash, and held it up to the camera as proof. "My mind was blown," she shared, but continued: "Obviously, I messaged the seller straightaway and said look, in the pocket of this jacket I found £50, which I think belongs to you, so I need to give that back to you. "She messaged me back and was obviously astonished that I'd been honest because she'd been looking for it, and yeah, she got a little bit upset". Rachel transferred the money to the woman, saying she is an "honest person" and wouldn't dream of keeping other people's things, asking her followers whether they would've done the same thing. In the comments, someone wrote: "I received a Christmas card for the previous house owners & I just put it in the mail pile & 6 months later I was having a sort through & was about to rip it up & throw it in the bin but I thought I'd better open it first before I threw it away... it had 100€ in it... "I felt terrible that someone was probably thinking that this was lost forever! I managed to contact the previous owner & she came to collect it... it was from her in-laws who couldn't remember what address they had sent the card to. "She was so happy she bought me a bottle of wine! I'm too honest... my conscience won't allow me to be anything else!" A sceptical woman penned: "Hypothetically speaking, imagine if it was fake money planted in the pockets and she does this to all her Vinted items." Rachel responded: "They were definitely not fakes, thankfully. I spent the money on a Tesco shop today, so now they're in the system. The shop would have 100% told me if they were." She replied: "Phhhhew, sorry if I sounded very sceptical. I've been scammed so many times myself. Thank you for being so honest. There needs to be more people like you in the world."

Cat Deeley's forgotten first boyfriend she was rumoured to have secretly married
Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty have split after 19 years together, but Cat was previously in a relationship with a PR expert Mark Whelan and was even linked to Leonardo DiCaprio TV stars Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty have shocked fans by announcing their split after more than a decade of marriage. The couple met while hosting BBC 's Fame Academy together in 2002, but only made their first public appearance as a couple nine years later in 2011. They wed a year later in September 2012 at a ceremony in Rome and have two children together Before Patrick came on the scene, This Morning star Cat was in a long-term relationship with public relations expert Mark Whelan. There were even rumours that the pair had tied the knot - but Cat's reps denied these claims. Sadly, things didn't work out and they parted ways in 2006. Cat's latest break-up comes after Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones' sad split - and now he's joined a notorious dating app on a lads' holiday. Speaking about her then-partner, Cat said Mark "used to be a bad boy, but these days is a lot more mellow." In a previous interview, she said: "He's ten years older than me and very smart and he's introduced me to things that weren't in my realm." READ MORE: Cat Deeley found moving back to the UK 'really hard' before split from Patrick Kielty However, after five years together, the pair went their separate ways. "Mark has been reassessing his life and decided his future wasn't with Cat," a friend told the Daily Star at the time. "He still loves her but knew they wouldn't spend the rest of their lives together." Cat - who was also once linked to Leonardo DiCaprio - confirmed: "We've split up - but I've never talked about my private life and I don't intend to now." After their break-up, she spent two years in a relationship with Jack Huston, a scion of the legendary Huston acting dynasty who starred in the film Twilight: Eclipse, but the relationship reportedly ended as the pair wanted to focus on their careers. While single in Hollywood, Cat also dated actor Michael McMillian after first meeting the True Blood star at a party. The pair were regularly photographed around the movie capital, with Cat telling friends she thought he was 'The One'. But a source told The Mail on Sunday: "It's all over. Cat's disappointed but moving on with her life. She is happy in all aspects of her life apart from her lack of a stable relationship." She went on to tie the knot with The Late Late Show host Patrick in 2012 after a whirlwind nine-month romance. In a candid interview with Tommy Tiernan in January 2023, Patrick revealed that he first met his wife back in 2002 during their time on hit reality TV show, Fame Academy. Patrick explained: "We each had partners at the time and nothing went on, but there was a wee vibe there." That subtle connection lingered, and the two stayed in touch purely as friends, linked by a sweet ritual of exchanging birthday wishes twice a year. Cat shared her side of the love story on The Late Late Show with Ryan Tubridy in 2020, recalling a particular phonecall that changed everything. "There was a night before my birthday - I can't even remember which one, it was thirty-something - Patrick called me just to wish me happy birthday," she said. "He asked what I was doing, and I told him we were having a late brunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel. I said, 'It's a shame you're not here - you could come along.'" At the time, Patrick was in a pub at home in Co Down, Northern Ireland. But after the call, he rushed home and booked a 7am flight to Los Angeles. The next day, he strolled into her birthday brunch, leaving Cat in total shock. She later admitted it was then she began to fall for his charm. Reflecting on the bold move, Patrick said: "I've always been a born romantic… If I had a quid for every rom-com I've cried at. I followed my heart all the way to Los Angeles to surprise my now-wife for lunch. Twelve years and two kids later, I think it worked out." However, the TV duo revealed on Tuesday that they are no longer a couple in a bombshell statement. They said: "We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. "We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment."
