When Amitabh Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit almost teamed up for 4 films; But none took off - Here's why
Amitabh Bachchan
and
Madhuri Dixit
, two of the biggest icons in Indian cinema, surprisingly never shared much screen space despite their immense popularity. While fans have long wished to see them together in a substantial project, very few know that the two were actually supposed to collaborate on four different films over the years.
Unfortunately, each of those attempts was shelved at various stages of production.
Four Projects That Never Happened
As reported by BollywoodMDB, the first of these was Bandua in 1989, helmed by JP Dutta. While a grand muhurat ceremony was held, the film never moved forward. Dutta reportedly refused to elaborate on the reasons, saying cryptically, 'Ask Mr. Bachchan about it.' Then came an ambitious film by acclaimed filmmaker
Rituparno Ghosh
, who envisioned Madhuri as
Madhabi Mukherjee
and Big B portraying the legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray.
However, fears that the Ray family might object to the portrayal led to the project being dropped.
In 2004, a comedy about a scientist and a musician was planned, with
Somnath Sen
directing and both stars on board. But Amitabh Bachchan opted out midway, citing a lack of excitement about the script. 'I decided not to do Somnath Sen's purely because the project didn't enthuse me after a point,' he told IANS.
Lastly, Madhuri revealed on a reality show that she and Bachchan once shot for 90 minutes for a film titled Shanakth, which was eventually shelved without explanation.

5 hints from Rockstar's GTA 6 website that confirm the presence of influencer mechanics in GTA 6
(Image via Rockstar Games) GTA 6 isn't just about shootouts, heists, and car chases anymore; it's shaping up to reflect the world we live in today. And that world includes influencers, viral content, and social media fame. Rockstar's character reveal of Real Dimez, the bold rap duo signed to 'Only Raw Records,' strongly hints that GTA 6 may introduce influencer-style gameplay mechanics. Here are 5 clues that suggest social media stardom could be part of your next criminal empire. 1. Real Dimez Got Famous from Viral Videos The official Rockstar description says it loud and clear: Real Dimez rose to fame through viral videos and spicy rap tracks. That language points to a gameplay system where going viral might actually matter. If they can build clout through content, maybe players can too, through missions or mechanics tied to views, likes, or trending content. Who Are REAL DIMEZ? EVERYTHING We Know So Far 2. 'All My Dimes in This Club' Real Dimez aren't just rappers; they're strategists. Their quote, 'Meet my twin, make it a dub,' is more than just a catchy bar; it reflects how they use image, identity, and presence to control a crowd. That suggests a gameplay loop involving performance or audience manipulation, where the right outfit, act, or post could give you real in-game power or money. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo 3. Dancers as A&Rs? That's Viral Marketing Dre'Quan, who manages Real Dimez, says: 'Dancers are like my A&Rs. If the record's a hit, DJs gonna be spinnin' it.' That flips traditional marketing on its head and could hint at a GTA 6 system where clubs, music, and social feedback create momentum. We could be getting a gameplay where your content spreads because the right people push it like dancers, DJs, influencers. 4. 'Signed to Only Raw Records' Means Music Meets Marketing Now that Real Dimez are signed, they're no longer just hustlers; they're a brand. Their arc could mirror influencer progression in the game: start from the streets, build a following, sign to a label, then dominate Vice City's music and nightlife scene. If Rockstar builds on that, players might get to manage an online persona, track engagement, or unlock opportunities through popularity. Real Dimez - 'One hit away from fame' #gta6 #gta6music #realdimez #onehitawayfromfame #rockstar 5. They're One Hit Away From Fame Rockstar closes Real Dimez's bio with this line: 'They're one hit away from fame.' That feels like a callout to the player. Whether you're making music, streaming crimes, or causing mayhem in a way the internet loves, GTA 6 might let you 'go viral' not just as flavor text, but as an actual progression mechanic. GTA has always evolved with the times. From bank robbers in GTA V to possible influencers in GTA 6, Rockstar seems ready to satirize today's fame-hungry culture. Real Dimez aren't just side characters — they may be the clearest sign yet that GTA 6 will let players chase clout just as hard as cash.

4 Indian plays so powerful, they will haunt you long after the lights go out
(Written by Taniya Chopra) 'All the world's a stage' as Shakespeare once said and nowhere is this more true than in India. The Indian stage has always found a way to speak to its time. With its old roots and ever-evolving forms, it continues to be a reflection and a critique of society. Across languages, Indian plays have dared to question power and expose injustice. Each of these plays are written in different decades and portray realities that remain very relevant today. These are the stories that make you question your thoughts. They will continue to stay with you long after the curtain falls. 'My life is my own- I haven't sold it to anyone for a job! My will is my own. My wishes are my own. No one can kill those- no one! I'll do what I like with myself and my life!' A play within a play that blurs the line between reality and performance. Begins with a group of actors gathering to rehearse a play about a court trial. Leela Benare is pushed into the role of the accused. The fictional charges against her is infanticide, but beneath that lie deeper judgments for being unmarried in her thirties, for having relationships, for refusing to conform to what society expects of a woman. The stage becomes a space of judgment, not just performance. Under the guise of only a play, we see a relentless public shaming of a woman who dares to defy societal norms. This play makes us, as audience, want to rise from the seats and defend Leela Benare and the countless women who she represents. Vijay Tendulkar turns this play from a light-hearted rehearsal to a ruthless trial of a woman's morality. 'A woman in a man's world is considered progressive, but a man in a woman's world is considered pathetic.' The most famous line and the haunting truth that runs through the play. The play shows the life journey of retired Bharatnatyam dancers, Jairaj and his wife, Ratna. We see their present day tensions with glimpses of their younger selves. Jairaj's love for dance, an art viewed as feminine, becomes his lifelong struggle for acceptance within his own home. Ratna now pins all her hopes on their daughter, Lata, trying to shape her into a successful dancer. Mahesh Dattani weaves together a beautiful portrait of strained relationships- a marriage turned bitter, complicated father-son bond, personal toll of gender stereotypes. As the spotlight fades, the play leaves behind the ache of dreams deferred and the weight of societal expectations. What do you do when something terrible is happening to another person just outside your window, will you take action or will you look the other way? This is a play about a gang rape that happens outside an apartment building. The people inside hear it. Every night. And still, they do nothing. Based on a real incident in Mumbai, Lights Out brings together a group of middle-class residents trying to comprehend what they're witnessing or choosing not to. What begins as a conversation about what should be done turns into an unsettling portrait of ignorance and apathy of humans. The play shows how numb we've grown to the horrors that don't directly affect us. Manjula Padmanabhan's Lights Out shows a brutal reality- 'In real life, as in the play, no one went to the aid of the victims'. A dramatic play based on a story from Mahabharata. Arvasu, a young man is caught in the web of rigid tradition and family politics. His love for Nittilai, a tribal girl, is pure, but caste rules make it impossible. In this play we see men obsessed with chasing power and revenge. Paravasu, the chief priest is cold and calculating. Yavakri, returned from years of penance but still is full of pride. Raibhya, a father who is driven by jealousy. Rarely does a play blend mythology and raw human emotion with such perfection. The Fire and the Rain is a tragedy of what's lost because of ambition and vengeance. With its unforgettable characters, it stays with you for a long time. (The writer is an intern with
