Bills, Bears, Raiders connected to league-altering Micah Parsons trade with Cowboys
Micah Parsons' trade request from the Dallas Cowboys is one of the biggest storylines in the NFL right now.
The 26-year-old edge rusher is frustrated with the lack of communication from the franchise on a potential extension, and though owner Jerry Jones said it's just a part of the negotiation, Jones also doesn't know if Parsons will be available for the Cowboys' Week 1 matchup versus the Philadelphia Eagles.
Dallas has no intentions of trading Parsons, but if it gets to a point where they have to, FOX Sports' Ralph Vacchiano lists the Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, and Las Vegas Raiders as potential landing spots for the superstar pass rusher.
Parsons is one of the most prolific pass rushers in the sport, as the Penn State product has tallied double-digit sacks in each of his first four seasons and has the versatility to generate pressure from anywhere on the defensive line. The 2021 No.12 overall pick is a generational talent worth giving up premium draft capital for.
Out of the Bills, Bears, and Raiders, Chicago is the most logical destination for Parsons. The franchise has the draft capital to make a move for the four-time Pro Bowler, and with quarterback Caleb Williams still on his rookie contract, general manager Ryan Poles can find a way to give Parsons an extension.
Landing in Buffalo would give Parsons the best chance to win a Super Bowl, though it would be tough for the Bills to sign him to a lucrative extension. Parsons would be the missing piece that elevates Buffalo over their rivals in the AFC, especially the Kansas City Chiefs.
Las Vegas would be a wild card for Parsons. The team has the draft capital and cap space to acquire the All-Pro edge rusher and ink him to an extension, and pairing him with Maxx Crosby would be electric.
However, the Raiders already gave Crosby a three-year extension worth $106 million this offseason. It's hard to imagine Las Vegas giving another pass rusher top-of-the-market money, as it would limit their ability to bolster other positions.
Overall, every team would love to have Parsons, but it's gonna cost a ton to snag him away from Dallas.

Trump hopes China will quickly quadruple its US soybean orders

"China is worried about its shortage of soybeans. Our great farmers produce the most robust soybeans. I hope China will quickly quadruple its soybean orders. A tariff truce between Beijing and Washington is set to expire on August 12, but the Trump administration has hinted that the deadline may be extended. China, which takes more than 60% of soybeans shipped worldwide, buys the oilseed mainly from Brazil and the United States. The most active soybean contract on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) was up 2.13% at $10.08 a bushel at 0446 GMT, having been little changed before Trump's post. China imported roughly 105 million metric tons of soybeans last year, just under a quarter coming from the U.S. and the remainder from Brazil. Quadrupling shipments would require China to import the bulk of its soybeans from the U.S. "It's highly unlikely that China would ever buy four times its usual volume of soybeans from the U.S.," Johnny Xiang, founder of Beijing-based AgRadar Consulting, said. It is unclear if securing China's agreement to buy more U.S. soybeans is a condition for extending the trade truce. China's Ministry of Commerce did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. The country has steadily reduced its reliance on U.S. soybeans in recent years, shifting more purchases to South America. Under the Phase One trade deal signed during Trump's first term, China agreed to boost purchases of U.S. agricultural products, including soybeans. However, Beijing ultimately fell far short of meeting those targets. This year, amid Washington–Beijing trade tensions, it has yet to buy any fourth quarter U.S. beans, fuelling concerns as the U.S. harvest export season approaches. "On Beijing's side, there have been quite a few signals that China is prepared to forego U.S. soybeans altogether this year, including booking those test cargoes of soymeal from Argentina," said Even Rogers Pay, an agricultural analyst at Trivium China. Reuters previously reported that Chinese feedmakers have purchased three Argentine soymeal cargoes as they aim to secure cheaper South American supplies amid concerns about a possible soybean supply disruption in the fourth quarter. U.S. soybean industry has been seeking alternative buyers, but no other country matches China's scale. Last year, China imported 22.13 million tons of soybeans from the U.S., and 74.65 million tons from Brazil. While it isn't going to earn him more playing time on offense with James Conner and Trey Benson ahead of him, what it does do is give the coaches confidence in his ability to step in should there be an injury. OLB Jordan Burch Burch was disruptive but got little credit for it. Twice he had sacks negated by penalties. He was in the backfield causing problems, and if that is something he can do in the regular season, the Cardinals have a foursome of outside linebackers to be reckoned with in him, Josh Sweat, Zaven Collins and Baron Browning. S Kitan Crawford Crawford, a seventh-round rookie known for his special teams play, picked off a pass in the end zone. Making plays on defense and not just special teams increases his value. Can he show more upside than Joey Blount? That is the question. After one game, he is proving his worth. CB Darren Hall Hall had an interception and almost picked off a second pass. He offers special teams play and is good in the slot. It is going to be tough to make the roster this year, but he certainly helped his case. New Lakers guard Marcus Smart remembers his first game against Kobe Bryant
About a month ago, the Los Angeles Lakers started to make some improvements to their roster. They addressed their big void at the center position by signing Deandre Ayton, and they also added 23-year-old sharpshooting forward Jake LaRavia while re-signing center Jaxson Hayes. But they lacked defensive prowess and toughness, so later in July, they signed Marcus Smart after his contract was bought out by the Washington Wizards. Smart is just three years removed from winning the Defensive Player of the Year, and he has long been one of the NBA's best backcourt defenders. In a video that honored "NBA Defense Week," Smart talked about the first time he had to guard late Lakers great Kobe Bryant. "All I'm thinking is: My mom is watching me guarding Kobe," Smart said. "I hope somebody got a picture of this. In my mind, I'm like, 'Just live in this moment 'cause to be on the court with one of the all-time greats, is an honor, let alone to be guarding him.' "Now, to be a Laker with that mamba mentality, it just amplifies it." Smart's first matchup versus Bryant came during the 2015-16 season, which was his second in the NBA and Bryant's final campaign. In that game, he had the antidote to the venom of the "Black Mamba," as he held the Hall of Famer to 5-of-18 shooting from the field, although his Boston Celtics lost, 112-104. Even if Smart's defense will be diminished this coming season, he's still expected to make a significant impact on the Lakers with his ball-handling, playmaking, veteran leadership and overall resourcefulness. Somewhere, Bryant is surely smiling about the prospect of such a player joining the Purple and Gold.
