Draper laughs off snub as Emma picks Carlos for US Open

Jack Draper joked that he did not blame Emma Raducanu for choosing Carlos Alcaraz over him as her mixed doubles partner at a star-studded US Open event this summer.
Raducanu and world number two Alcaraz are among 16 big-name pairs announced by Flushing Meadows organisers on Tuesday.
Asked if the two current British number ones could have got together instead, Draper said: 'A wise person once told me you should find the best partner - and that's what she did. I don't blame her at all for that.
'He's obviously the best player in the world probably right now, along with (Jannik) Sinner. Great at doubles, as well. She's gone about and chose the best partner, for sure. Hopefully they do well.'
Draper, currently world number six, has linked up with Olympic champion Qinwen Zheng of China.
'I think it's a good format for the players to get prepared for the US Open, having a shot at playing with another top player,' he added.
'Qinwen I know from the Tour. I have seen her around. Obviously a great player herself and has a really good game.
'It will be fun to get out there and play with her and see how we get on. It was me who messaged. It was nice to get that together and let's see how we get on.'
Alcaraz, who joined Draper in the second round at Queen's Club on Tuesday, said: 'She's gonna be the boss! 'I'm super excited about it. I think it's going to be great. It was an amazing idea for the tournament.
'I've known Emma since a really long time ago, so we know each other.
I have a really good relationship with her. We are going to enjoy it, for sure.
'I will try to bring my doubles skill. We will try to win. But obviously it's going to be really, really fun.' It was announced earlier this year that the US Open mixed doubles event will be played over two days in the week before the main tournament.
It was an attempt to attract more high-profile players, and it has certainly worked.
The event will take place on August 19 and 20, with the winners scooping a prize pot of $1 million.
Not all the pairs announced on Tuesday might make the cut, with entries open until July 28.

Alcaraz and Sinner set to renew their rivalry at Cincinnati Open final
PA Media/DPA London Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will clash in Sunday's Cincinnati Open final after the world's top two players won their respective semi-finals on Saturday. World number one Sinner and second-ranked Alcaraz will meet in a repeat of the French Open and Wimbledon finals earlier this summer. Sinner celebrated his 24th birthday by halting French wildcard Terence Atmane's surprise run to the last four in a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 win. World number 136 Atmane - who had never been inside the top 100 but will now climb to 69 - went toe-to-toe with Sinner in a tight opening set, but the defending champion found an extra gear in the tie-break and cruised to victory in the second. It was Sinner's 26th successive hard-court win and his 12th in a row on all surfaces. 'It's going to be a very, very difficult match, but hopefully it's going to be, in any case, a good match,' said Sinner after he downed Terence Atmane in the semi-finals. 'Hopefully it's a very high-level match. That's what for us players is important, but also for the people who are watching… We will see what kind of fun is going to [happen] on Monday.' Alcaraz brushed off Alexander Zverev in straight sets, beating the German 6-4, 6-3. 'I'm excited about it. Rico Lewis keen to stay at ‘dream club' Manchester City

The England international produced the assist for the opening goal as City began their quest for a seventh title in nine years by thrashing Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 at Molineux on Saturday. That came amid rumours linking the 20-year-old with a move to Nottingham Forest but, while manager Pep Guardiola has said more than once he would like to trim his squad, Lewis does not intend to depart. The City academy graduate said: 'I've never, ever seen myself at a different club. I've always wanted to play for City. 'It's my dream club, and like you see (here), when I'm playing with the kind of players that I'm playing with, it brings out the best in me, so I'm so happy. 'Everyone wants assurance and security but, at the end of the day, it's on me to perform. It's on me to take the chances. After that, I can't blame myself. 'If I take my own chances, I do it. If I don't, then I have to work and get better.' After losing the title last season after four successive victories, City started the new campaign with a strong statement.
