At the recent 'The Android Show' video by Google, Samsung confirmed to bring One UI 8 with Android 16 this summer. This confirmation has created much curiosity among Samsung mobile users, as in less than 6 months, the company has made an announcement for the new generation OS. Now, there are speculations that Samsung could release the first beta for One UI 8 by the end of May.
According to the Sammobile report, some of the latest generation Galaxy flagships are also slated to get access to the beta program by this week in selected regions. The timeline for the One UI beta release also matches the rollout time for the stable Android 16 update. Therefore, in the coming days, some users may get a glimpse of One UI 8 and its new features. Furthermore, tipster Tarun Vats has also spotted One UI 8 beta pages on the Samsung website in the US, hinting towards an imminent release.

As of now, it is speculated that Samsung could showcase the One UI 8 with Android 16 at the upcoming Unpacked event in July. During the event, the tech giant will also unveil the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Therefore, these foldables could also support the new generation of Samsung OS out of the box. Now, we simply have to wait a couple more days to confirm if these rumours are true.

However, viewers were triggered to note that most of the students appeared to be foreigners. Video triggers India hate The video showed one woman saying she had landed a job as a software engineer at Google. Another student said they would start working with Amazon in Seattle. Although the nationalities of these students were never even hinted at, viewers summarized from their appearance and accents that the students were of South Asian descent. And then the hate comments began. 'Indians and Chinese joining big tech giants in US,' wrote one person on Instagram. 'All these immigrants making America great,' another said. The video soon reached X, where the comments were more racist. 'Love how our universities are explicitly not meant to educate our own citizens, really 'well-functioning country' stuff going on here,' an X user posted. 'Why is America educating its enemies? I've heard that they also get scholarships and aid. What are we doing here?' another questioned. 'So sick of the Patel army in this country,' one person commented, while a second added, 'Is that NYU's Mumbai campus?'

Google Photos adds image-to-video transformation tools
Google announced that it is adding a new 'Create' tab to its Google Photos app that will allow users to easily turn their photos into GIFs, videos, animations and more, per a blog post. Users can access the new feature by opening their Google Photos app and tapping on the 'Create' option. From there, users can create animated GIFs of selected photos and videos, add a 3D effect to photos for a cinematic feel, arrange photos in collages, and create photo/videos montages with music. In addition to this, users can turn their photos into videos by animating them or turning stills into six-second-long video clips. Photos can also be remixed into different artistic styles, such as an Anime-inspired image. The introduction of Google's 'Create' tool comes several days after Elon Musk's social media platform X allowed some paying users to turn their photos into videos with the help of the Grok Imagine offering.

Samsung is widening the rollout of its Android 16-based One UI 8 beta to more Galaxy smartphones. According to a report from 9To5Google, the beta build is now reaching Galaxy S24 series smartphones as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. This follows Samsung's earlier confirmation that the One UI 8 beta would extend to more smartphones later in August, with a stable release planned for eligible models in September. One UI 8 beta expands to more Galaxy devices Samsung first introduced One UI 8 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7 and Flip 7 FE last month, with the beta initially available for the Galaxy S25 lineup. Now, the rollout has been spotted on the Galaxy S24 range and Samsung Galaxy Z-series foldable models from 2024. Samsung One UI 8: What is new The latest One UI version brings Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), a new privacy safeguard for on-device AI processes. KEEP creates encrypted, app-specific storage zones so each app can only access its own sensitive data, boosting both privacy and data isolation. Knox Matrix has also been updated to better secure connected devices. If a device is marked as high-risk, it will automatically log out of the linked Samsung Account. In addition to security upgrades, One UI 8 enhances Galaxy AI features for foldables. On Galaxy Z Fold models, people get tools like side-by-side editing, show original, suggest erases, Photo Assist, Generative Edit, AI results view, and drag-and-drop AI content. For flip-style foldables, Galaxy AI is optimised for the FlexWindow cover display. Gemini Live brings Google's conversational AI directly to the small screen, while Now Bar and Now Brief provide context-based prompts and summaries. Photography also gets a boost with real-time filters, a zoom slider, and dual preview support on the FlexWindow.
