Young Scottish jazz artist to score new Spike Lee film
The 28-year-old, who grew up in Dollar in Clackmannanshire, has previously been nominated for a Mercury Prize and won the Scottish Album of the Year Award in 2022.
Announcing the news, McCreadie said that Lee travelled to the Edinburgh Jazz Festival in 2024 to meet with him and the two other members which make up the Fergus McCreadie Trio, which he leads on piano.
Several months later, they met again during a "ridiculous trip" to New York where they recorded Stony Gate, an original song for the film which was then transformed into an orchestral arrangement for a number of scenes.
McCreadie also recorded a number of other cues for the film, with the rest of the score being put together by American composer Howard Drossin.

Sharing the news on social media, McCreadie said: "Been sitting on this for a long time!! Absolutely crazy to have some of my music and playing featured on the soundtrack for the new @officialspikelee film 'Highest 2 Lowest'. Spike came to Edinburgh to meet us at @edinburgh_jazz in 2024 and then we went over to NYC in November to record Stony Gate for the film, as well as a bunch of other cues for the film - what a ridiculous trip it was!
"Stony Gate was transformed into an orchestral arrangement for a couple of scenes in the film - it was a real honour to see and hear the great @howard.drossin work on this and on the rest of the score.
Fergus McCreadie "The soundtrack comes out on Monday - pre save it at the link in bio!!"

Noel Gallagher beat cocaine addiction thanks to Billy Connolly
The Oasis star said he was finally able to kick the habit after a chance encounter with the comedian in Harrods. It was 'the first time Noel had been star-struck'. Noel Gallagher beat his cocaine addiction - thanks to comedian Billy Connolly, a new book claims. Oasis rocker Noel was finally able to give up drugs after a chance meeting with Billy in Harrods, according to author Colin MacFarlane. His book 'Sir Billy Connolly: King of Comedy and His Famous Pals' claims Gallagher had been battling a bad coke addiction. He had spent his days hanging around his flat watching comedy DVDs of 'The Big Yin' who was his favourite comedian. But Noel then bumped into his comedy hero in London in the 1990s and says it was the fist time he had been star struck, Colin says. They had such a fun chat it 'cheered Noel up' so much that he decided to kick the cocaine habit for good. Colin spent 18 months researching the book - tracking down celebs and people across the country who had run-ins with the famous comedian. Colin said: "In the 90s, when Noel Gallagher was at the height of his fame, he went through a really bad cocaine addiction. "He was lying on the couch, drinking soup, and trying to go cold turkey to get over his cocaine problem. It turns out that he ended up watching loads of Billy Connolly DVDs - he thought laughter was the best medicine. "The one say he goes up one day for a walk to Harrods - and who was standing at the counter but Billy Connolly? It was the first time that Noel Gallagher had been absolutely starstruck by somebody - the only other person he'd been starstruck by was Neil Young. "He went up to Billy Connolly and he said, "alright, wee brother?" He couldn't believe it - he'd seen his stand-up and said he'd laughed until it hurt. "Noel says his interaction with Billy had helped him kick his cocaine habit. Meeting Billy cheered him up so much he dropped the addiction." In his book, Colin describes Noel as stating: "I'd seen him live on lots of DVDs - he makes me laugh until it hurts. When I decided I was going to kick drugs, I spent a lot of time lying on the couch and watching DVDs. They say laughter is the best medicine, and I can assure you it is. I love the guy, he's great." During his research, Colin spent over a year tracking down celebrities who had a story to tell about the comic legend - and was shocked by how many he found. "I went through around 10,000 articles over the 18 months," said Colin. I had to go really far back and look at everything that's ever been written about Billy Connolly and then track down all these celebrities. "I ended up with more than 200 people that he'd met - I was surprised by how well-connected he is across the world. He's met celebrities like Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello - even Noel Gallagher. "It worked out quite well - Billy Connolly has met so many, it's incredible." The book also includes tales of Connolly's interactions with celebrities including Sean Connery, Judi Dench, Andy Murray and Rod Stewart.

Dwayne Yuill, 38, proposed to his partner of six years, Shell Hodge, at the first of three Oasis concerts in Edinburgh on Friday. The Dundee couple, who have been fans of the band since their childhood, got tickets for Shell's 40th birthday earlier this year. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Dwayne waited until the Gallagher brothers began to play their hit, Slide Away, before getting down on one knee and popping the question. "We were having the time of our lives at the concert, enjoying the music - Oasis were just sensational," said Shell. 'When Slide Away started, he was shuffling around in his seat - and then it got to the chorus and suddenly he was down on his knee in front of me, with the ring held out in his hands. "I knew what he was doing pretty much straight away at that point. He'd spoken to the stewards before the concert kicked off to let them know - I was totally unaware that he'd done any of that." Shell Hodge and Dwaye Yuill are "over the moon" after a surprise proposal during the band's first Edinburgh gig. | Shell Hodge / SWNS Dwayne chose Slide Away as the song holds a special place in the couple's hearts - as they enjoy singing along to it in the car. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad The couple said the band's music means a lot to both of them, with Shell a fan since she was a teenager, and Dwayne introduced to the band by his brother Peter, who has since passed away. "It was the lyrics in that song, they just relate - especially the chorus," Shell said. "Oasis is really special to the both of us, we're both huge fans. "We always have sing-alongs in the car, and have done since we met - that song always comes on and we always sing our hearts out to it. It's got sentimental value - it's one of 'our songs' and I think that's why he chose it. "I've liked Oasis since I was a young teenager. I love their music. I'd been to see Liam and Noel separately for their solo stuff. Dwayne is a fan because of his brother - his brother who passed was a huge Oasis fan. Dwayne Yuill proposing to Shell Hodge as Oasis sang Slide Away in Edinburgh. | Shell Hodge / SWNS "There's a couple of songs that are significant that relate to his brother. Dwayne's late brother is such an important factor on why we share a love for Oasis, and as Slide Away started playing, a very clear face could be seen in the clouds above the stage. "We didn't notice it at the time, it was pointed out to us by so many people on social media the next day and we are just so convinced it was Pete giving us his blessing and maybe also even enjoying the concert himself. "We were thinking about him a lot. Dwayne was very emotional during Live Forever which is the main song that brings thoughts of his brother to him." Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad As the gig ended, Shell learned that Dwayne had asked her two adult children, Courtney and Kyle, 22 and 19, for their blessing in a touching gesture. The pair quickly began phoning family and friends to tell them the good news - as snaps of the proposal began to circulate on social media. "The only two family members that knew were my son and daughter, Courtney and Kyle. Dwayne had asked for their blessing beforehand, so they were all in it together," Shell said. "We didn't expect it to be posted - we were so shocked, but we were fine with it. We were then in a huge rush to tell friends and family before they saw it online. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Dwayne wore a t-shirt for his brother Peter who loved Oasis. | Shell Hodge / SWNS "We were stood in the Starbucks in the middle of Edinburgh phoning family while we were getting tagged and messaged about it. "Everybody was over the moon for us. I don't think anybody expected it, but everyone is so happy for us and so excited for the wedding." While Shell and Dwayne have not set a date for their wedding yet, they are enjoying their engagement - and say they will definitely include Oasis in their big day. "We've not even fully discussed the details ourselves yet, we're still taking it all in," Shell said. "I think I'm going to make bucket hats compulsory for the guests - and our first dance will have to be Slide Away. Oasis will definitely be part of the day.'

Sophie Turner slams critics who say she 'forgot' kids at Oasis gig
Game of Thrones star, Sophie Turner, who shares two daughters with her ex-husband, Joe Jonas, hit back at a fan, who claimed that the actress had 'forgotten' about her kids Sophie Turner slammed a 'mum shamer' who accused The Game of Thrones actress, 29, of neglecting her kids by being at an Oasis concert. Turner co-parents daughters Willa, four, and Delphine, two, with former husband Joe Jonas, who lives in LA. The star, who is rumoured to have rekindled her romance with aristocrat boyfriend Peregrine Pearson, posted on Instagram with a picture of herself and a friend enjoying themselves at Oasis' London concert last week. The Sansa Stark actress captioned: "Bucket hats and beers. That'll do me. Thank you @Levis." One follower responded to Sophie's post saying: "Lmfao I think she has forgotten that she has two kids." Sophie fired back: "Ah, I'm so sorry, sometimes, I forget some people can't think for themselves. So, get this... There's this crazy thing called shared custody. Maybe, just maybe, they were with their dad that day." Sophie wed Joe in 2019 before their marriage ended in 2023 when the musician initiated divorce proceedings in September 2023, sparking a protracted and bitter custody dispute. Though Sophie is British and sought permission to relocate across the Atlantic with her children, Joe, who originates from New Jersey, preferred keeping them close by. The former pair eventually reached an agreement on shared custody. "After a productive and successful mediation, we have agreed that the children will spend time equally in loving homes in both the US and the UK," the former couple announced in a statement to Us Weekly at the time. "We look forward to being great coparents." During their time together, Sophie and Joe thrilled fans by frequently posting pictures of themselves looking utterly smitten. "Sophie even made an appearance in a music video for the Jonas Brothers - alongside Joe's siblings Nick and Kevin, plus their respective partners Priyanka Chopra and Danielle Deleasa. But their romance wasn't meant to last, and last year the actress opened up about her aspirations for her two daughters whilst adjusting to life as a single mother. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, Sophie revealed her desire for her children to view her as someone who provides well for them, explaining: "I want them to see me having a social life and enjoying work and thriving in my career and relationships. "I want them to see a hard-working mum. I'll come back and say, 'This is why Mummy was away – it's because she's doing this for you, so Father Christmas can come with a big bundle of presents'."
