And the music legend said he wants to see a sea of green and white in the crowd as he performs his greatest hits on stage.
Celtic fanatic Sir Rod told those coming to see him to wear the Glasgow club's shirt or bring flags bearing its crest.
Asked if he wanted to see fans wearing the leopard print outfits which he donned in the 1970s, Rod said: "No I think you will probably see more Celtic shirts than anything else (in the crowd).
"I would love to see some Celtic flags."
Sir Rod also told the BBC's Sidetracked podcast that he is hoping the rain stays off for his performance on June 29.
He added: "It does worry me that it's all going to come down in June because we have had so much sunshine and no rain.
"But the show goes on. I've done it before, I played Twickenham Stadium and it poured with rain.
"As long as you go out there and you get wet with the fans it's fun but obviously we want the sun to shine."
Sir Rod has confirmed he will take to the stage with his former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood at Glastonbury.
Earlier this week he was forced to cancel a show due to ill health but it has now been rescheduled for June 10.

Last month the singer, who is married to former model Penny Lancaster, said he was "absolutely flabbergasted" to be presented with a prestigious lifetime achievement award by his children.
The father-of-eight was introduced to the stage at the American Music Awards by five of his grown-up children.
