Residents plead for road to be fixed, say services refuse to use it
'We have to deal with the road, and we have to worry about the kids getting hit and getting stuck and getting our cars torn up,' said homeowner Leighia Hudson.

Hudson is one of the homeowners on Orchid Private Drive where mail services, vehicles, school buses and trash pickup are just not possible to receive.
'All of the water on the road and the holes and everything just tears things up,' Betty Cobb said. 'That's why the buses would not come or none of the mail and the garbage trucks or anybody like that would come.'
According to the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), Orchid Private Drive is a private road and is not listed in the county registry. But the homeowners believe that if the county would accept the road into its inventory, then the county could help maintain it.
News 19 reached out to the Morgan County Commission, which provided a statement that reads in part:
'The Morgan County Commission does not perform any maintenance or has any legal authority to do so. This private drive is not part of the Morgan County Road System.'
Leighia Hudson said that her grandmother owned and maintained the road until they lost ownership of the state in 2007.
'The state picked it up and once the state picked it up, they gave her time to get it back, and she did not,' Hudson explained.
While the proprietorship of the road remains unclear, the homeowners are pleading with the county to help them fix it before further damage is done.
'It would be plenty helpful if we knew they could do something, so this way we would not have to worry no more,' said Cobb.

35 Union Pacific train cars derail near Texas town, no injuries reported
GORDON, Texas (AP) — Thirty-five cars of a Union Pacific train derailed Tuesday afternoon near a small Texas town, officials said. No injuries were reported and no evacuations have been ordered following the afternoon derailment, Union Pacific spokeswoman Robynn Tysver said. News footage showed multiple train cars piled on top of one another on the railroad track located in a rural area. A grass fire and smoke could be seen beside the derailment site. The emergency services district said the derailment was being treated as a hazardous material situation. But it was not immediately known what the derailed train cars were carrying. The derailment occurred around 2 p.m. just east of the town of Gordon, Tysver said. Gordon is located about 65 miles (105 kilometers) southwest of Fort Worth. None of the railroad cars were leaking their contents, according to a post on social media by the Palo Pinto County Emergency Services District 1. 'Crews are on scene, mitigating the damage and hazards. Fire officials are proceeding with caution (at) the scene,' the emergency services district said in a statement. The Palo Pinto Fire Department was working to contain a grass fire, Tysver said. 'Union Pacific crews are en route,' Tysver added.

Lane on major Buckinghamshire road closed off
A lane on a major High Wycombe road was briefly cordoned off due to the arrival of the emergency services. In the afternoon of Saturday, August 9, fire engines and ambulances were seen southbound on Marlow Hill (the A404). A post on the Thames Valley Incident Alert Facebook page suggested this is in relation to a 'medical emergency'. The emergency services' presence on the hill led to one lane between the A40 and Daws Hill Lane, towards Flackwell Heath, being closed off. This meant drivers had to use the outside lane when on the main road. The closed off road was eventually reopened several hours later.
