Dubai Chambers showcases its integrated services to support business growth to 180 representatives from the private sector
Dubai, UAE – Dubai Chambers recently organised a dedicated workshop aimed at highlighting its comprehensive suite of services designed to support the growth and competitiveness of the business community both locally and internationally. The online session attracted 180 representatives from across the private sector. Participants were introduced to the full range of programmes, initiatives, and services offered by the three chambers operating under the Dubai Chambers umbrella – Dubai Chamber of Commerce, Dubai International Chamber, and Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy. The workshop outlined efforts to drive the success and expansion of local companies, while creating new growth opportunities across diverse sectors in support of Dubai's broader economic development. The session explored the benefits of membership with Dubai Chamber of Commerce, which plays a key role in facilitating business operations through essential services including the issuance of certificates of origin, processing of ATA Carnets, attestation of documents, and commercial mediation to resolve business disputes. It also detailed how membership enables companies to actively contribute to the development of business legislation through participation in Business Groups. Representing the interests of all major sectors in Dubai, these groups play a vital role in facilitating dialogue between government entities and the private sector to address policy matters and enhance Dubai's economic competitiveness. Participants learned more about the chamber's initiatives to support the international expansion of Dubai-based companies. These include organising targeted trade missions to connect local businesses with trusted partners in priority markets, as well as hosting workshops to raise awareness of regulatory frameworks and the latest legal developments relating to different sectors. The session also highlighted the strategy of Dubai International Chamber, which focuses on attracting foreign companies and investments to Dubai. This includes its efforts to bring multinational corporations to the emirate through a growing network of international representative offices. These offices promote Dubai's competitive advantages, provide access to valuable market intelligence, and help drive foreign direct investment (FDI) flows to the emirate, while also supporting the international expansion of Dubai-based businesses. Chamber achieves prestigious recognition for its role in promoting sustainability Dubai, UAE – Dubai Chamber of Commerce, one of the three chambers operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers, has been awarded the 'Plan to Action: Year of Sustainability Seal.' The award comes in recognition of the chamber's pioneering role in advancing sustainability values and driving positive impact, in line with the UAE's vision to build a more sustainable future. The chamber received the seal for the Dubai Chamber of Commerce Environmental, Social, and Governance ESG Label initiative, which was launched last year by the chamber's Centre for Responsible Business. The initiative is designed to support companies and organisations in assessing their readiness and maturity in adopting ESG standards while recognising their efforts to promote sustainable growth. The Dubai Chamber of Commerce ESG Label is designed to encourage the business community to adopt and develop practices that have a positive impact on society and the environment, as well as promote good governance, by recognising participants' efforts to advance sustainability. It acknowledges companies' efforts to support sustainability and motivates broader adoption of ESG practices. Organisations of all sizes that have been established for at least two years are eligible to apply. Companies that successfully apply for the label will benefit from alignment with ESG best practices, enhanced brand image and reputation, and added value for potential investors. The framework promotes ESG ownership within organisations by benchmarking ESG practices against key parameters and peer companies in the region and globally. Participating organisations receive a feedback report highlighting any areas for improvement, together with a maturity level score based on their overall ESG rating. As part of the label's development process, a thorough assessment was conducted by globally recognised ESG experts, which examined global and regional regulatory landscapes and reporting frameworks to identify the critical factors in determining an organisation's ESG maturity. The business community was also consulted during the development phase to help shape the framework, which is aligned with global best practices and meets the local and international baseline for ESG reporting and preparedness. ESG has emerged as a strategic priority for organisations of all sizes, creating a need for companies to integrate sustainability goals into their core business practices and operations. This includes adopting transparent reporting standards, reducing environmental impact, enhancing social responsibility initiatives, and ensuring governance practices align with ethical principles. Dubai Chamber of Commerce's Centre for Responsible Business plays a pivotal role in promoting responsible and sustainable business practices in the emirate and is committed to supporting and motivating companies to adopt best practices in ESG to enhance their performance, increase competitiveness, and enrich their social and environmental contributions. El-Sisi reviews key AOI projects in civilian and defence industries
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on Monday followed up on the progress of implementing key activities and projects at factories and companies affiliated with the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) in the fields of civil and defence industries. In a meeting with the Chairman of the Board of AOI Major General Mokhtar Abdel-Latif, El-Sisi was briefed on AOI's strategic framework focusing on enhancing local manufacturing, localizing modern technology, and partnering with leading local, Arab, and global companies to transfer expertise and develop national industries, thereby strengthening Egypt's position as a leading regional industrial power. Presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that this strategy is pursued through several principal axes, including modernizing production lines in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution to enhance manufacturing and technological capacities. It also includes qualifying and training human resources to keep pace with rapid technological changes, ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency, and supporting technical research in collaboration with research institutions. The strategy also focuses on deepening military industries manufacturing to meet the demands of the armed forces and export markets. It introduces new industries to cater to the needs and demands of both local and foreign markets. The official spokesperson noted that the meeting reviewed the developments in the civil industries undertaken by the organization, including transportation means, electronics, manufacturing of telecommunications towers and high-voltage electricity towers, design and manufacture of water pumps and sewage systems, water and sewage treatment plants, manufacturing of pipes for water, sewage, and natural gas, clean energy, wood industries, and medical industries. In this context, Abdel Latif mentioned that starting this year, in cooperation with the global Stellantis Group, production of the Citroën C4X car has begun on the production lines of the Arab American Vehicles (AAV) company, targeting an annual production rate of 7,000 vehicles and a total of 28,000 cars over four years. He added that the organization has also begun production of the new Jeep Cherokee, starting in September 2024, at an annual rate of 1,500 cars, and the Toyota Fortuner 4x4, at an annual rate of 1,200 vehicles. He explained that the organization is working on expanding local manufacturing of transportation means and, in the field of electronics, aims to add new production lines for laptops, tablets, mobile phones, prepaid electricity meters, and routers. The spokesperson also said that the Chairman reviewed the organization's efforts in the field of clean energy, particularly in producing solar panels using the latest technologies, including a project to establish a solar power plant connected to the government grid in Uganda, as part of the Egyptian initiative for Nile Basin countries. The Chairman also reviewed the most important new civil projects the organization is implementing, as well as the development of e-marketing tools and mechanisms within the organization in cooperation with specialized entities to promote products and services and expand the customer base through innovative digital platforms that align with market trends locally, regionally, and the requirements of digital transformation. He also reviewed the efforts made by the organization to qualify human resources through the Arab Institute for Advanced Technology, the AOI Academy for Engineering Training, the Helwan Academy for Technical Education, the Technical Secondary School for Dual Education and Training, and the Welding Academy in Helwan in cooperation with the International Institute of Welding in Italy. The spokesperson added that the President commended the organization's efforts in various fields. El-Sisi stressed the need to continue its endeavours aimed at increasing production and reducing prices to achieve competitiveness, deepen local manufacturing, localise advanced technology, and develop local supply chains to ensure the production of components with global quality and reduce reliance on imports, especially in vital sectors. The President also emphasized the importance of continuing ongoing coordination and fruitful, constructive integration between ministries, the private sector, and various Egyptian industrial bodies to achieve industrial harmony and optimize the exploitation of national manufacturing capabilities.
