Nicki Minaj and SZA's feud explained after shocking ‘dead dog' dig
A strange war of words between the US stars has erupted with Nicki, 42, branding the former Glastonbury headliner a 'dead dog' in one dig.
Nicki is no stranger to confronting those she has a problem with — who could forget 'Miley, what's good?' — but this new beef appears to have come out of nowhere.
Publicly, the pair have seemingly never crossed paths other than at a handful of industry events but they aired their grievances loud and clear on X.
SZA, 35, drew Nicki's wrath after the Anaconda icon took to social media to vent about Top Dawg Entertainment president, Terrence 'Punch' Henderson.
The label boss happens to also be the Kill Bill rapper's manager, prompting her to not so subtly post some shade.
'So glad I have proof of being bullied by AND being lied on by a man PUBLICLY,' Nicki kicked things off by writing on X.
She continued: 'On a platform I use for my JOB; after I rejected his business proposition on more than one occasion.'
SZA, in the ancient tradition of shady subtweeting, posted: 'Mercury retrograde.. don't take the bait lol silly goose.'
While she didn't say anything more, Nicki took this to be a dig at her post and told her, 'Go draw your freckles back on bookie.'
However, Nicki wasn't done there as she launched a tirade against SZA's music and appearance in a stack of posts. Which the Snooze hitmaker volleyed right back.
Nicki isn't one to mince her words and the Super Bass star went for the jugular with her insults of SZA.
'B***h looking & sounding like she got stung by a f**king bee. Dot dot dot *Draws on my fake freckles.*' she wrote.
After another dig about SZA's freckles, Nicki said: 'Liar, liar pants on fire.
Sounding like a fkng dead dog.'
The onslaught continued with an attack on her 2022 album SOS, which saw SZA break Michael Jackson's record for the longest a Black artist has spent on the Billboard 200's Top 10 chart — over 80 weeks.
'B***h put out a whole new album as a deluxe to an already existing album that was out for like a year or 2 so the original album could break records,' she said.
'Like what in the insecure lack of morals & integrity you doing? I thought she was like a real artist? Girl bye.'
In another post she added: 'Wait. Does Sza think she's more successful than me? Lol yall catch me up pls.
'Sza if every song you've ever done vanished right now the music business wouldn't even miss you. I've been to countries that never heard of you. I know you're not THAT stupid are you?'
She took a swipe at SZA's joint tour with Kendrick Lamar, emphasising she had headlined her 'own' tour in previous years.
Over the course of three hours, Nicki fired off over 20 posts aimed at SZA, as well as continuing her rant on a livestream on her Stationhead account.
She signed off on X with: 'Thx for hanging with us on SH, you guys. It was fun. 🙏🏽🩷🎀.'
After her initial dig, SZA kept comparatively quiet as Nicki spewed post after post aimed at her — but that doesn't mean she was silent.
Replying to the first tweet, she wrote: 'I don't give a f**k bout none of that weird s**t you popping.'
The All The Stars hitmaker then picked fights with Nicki fans, called Barbs, who were joining in on the brutal attack.
'U AINT HEARD THE ALBUM THAT WENT NUMBER ONE 13 WEEKS?' SZA questioned. 'That shoulda let you know. IM OUT MY F**KING MIND [sic].'
Not done there, SZA hit out at 'State of Minaj' stan account for an unacceptable, racially charged tweet which later had visibility restricted for 'hateful conduct'.
Defending her first post, she added: 'I wasn't even talking about or to anyone I had just got off stage talkin bout retrograde.'
The Saturn singer admitted she was mad 'now', after the numerous Nicki fans flooded her social media, along with the rapper herself. More Trending
'I get bullied by millions online every day then step my ass out onna packed stadium tour where ppl show me REAL love . IN REAL LIFE ,' she said in a final post.
'My parents are healthy and I'm the most successful I ever been. GET SOME F**KING PERSPECTIVE n BARK AT THE WALL !!!'

Jo Whiley's sadness at dad's illness as she makes important vow
Much loved Radio DJ and TV host Jo Whiley reveals her life has been filled with ups and downs so far this year Jo Whiley says she is choosing not to slow down after hitting 60 - and thinks birthday milestones are 'not a big deal'. After posing in a colourful magazine shoot she insisted: 'We should never say someone looks good for their age, we should just say they look good!' BBC Broadcaster Jo certainly does look good and tried out a variety of outfits before sitting down to speak to woman&home. On turning 60 this month she insisted: 'Another birthday really isn't a big deal for me because I don't see age as important. It's something that you very much don't want to be a thing, but it becomes a thing because everybody focuses on it and asks you about it constantly. It's a bizarre situation to be in because I'm only another year older than I was last year, and a year younger than I will be next year. There's an obsession with reaching certain milestones due to your age. People focus on it too much and I don't know what to say. 'You have a birthday, you wake up the next day, and you carry on. I'm doing my radio show, going to the gym and looking after the kids, so nothing has changed at all. There's probably a focus because people used to retire earlier than they do now, and now that concept is mind-boggling." On exercise and her body she added: 'Your body undoubtedly changes as you get older, and things don't look the same. Your skin changes, and that's one of my biggest revelations. I do weights, which has become increasingly important, but no matter how many weights I lift, I can't do anything about the skin that's hanging off on my arms, or the papery texture my skin has. Why did nobody tell me about that? I'm not quite sure what the answer is, apart from wearing long sleeves and covering up, but I don't want to do that. I wish I could say I'm great with self-care and that I moisturise my body all the time, but I'm rubbish at all of that. I have so many aches and pains, but I consider myself very lucky to be healthy. I have got arthritis, which is really painful, and my rotator cuff in my shoulder is hurting at the moment. I haven't had any serious health issues – I get migraines sometimes, but I think they are linked to the stress and strains of living.' The Radio DJ and TV host has also been dealing with some real highs and lows of family and work life recently, having fronted some of the BBC 's Glastonbury coverage in June and launched a new podcast called Dig It with friend Zoe Ball. But away from the cameras she and her family have had to get their head around some big news for her father Martin, a former electrician. She has been married to music executive Steve Morton, 60, since 1991, and they are parents to India, 32, Jude, 26, Cassius, 23, and Coco, 16. Jo explained: 'The things that keep my feet on the ground are probably the same as everyone else's. There's all the stuff that goes with dealing with ageing parents. Dad has just been diagnosed with Parkinson's, so I need to look after him and help my mum. It's those day-to-day realities of life that keep you grounded. 'We had been suspecting something was going on with my dad for a while, so it was good to get a diagnosis, and now we're trying to make sense of it all. It's really early days, and he's quite confused about it. Something like that puts everything in perspective and stops you from worrying about rubbish. Everyone will be dealing with those things in real life. That's the reality of being my age; that you end up having more people to look after and more responsibilities.' The news of her dad is sure to have made her feel emotional and it is a side of her which she often shows. 'I'm a sensitive person, and it's difficult for me not to show my emotions,' she explained. 'It's good to share how you're feeling. I can't imagine a life where I didn't cry. I wish I cried less and if I could take a magic pill to stop myself, I probably would. I cry when I'm tired, so I will suddenly break down for seemingly no reason. 'Someone will ask what's going on, but it's just that I'm exhausted. If I don't want anyone to know how I'm feeling, I'll cry while I'm driving or swimming, and I have to try not to swallow loads of water! Sometimes, there's just too much going on in your life and head, and the only way to deal with it is to let the tears flow.' Another reason for tears is the changing of the family unit as her kids get older. Jo is having to prepare herself for Empty nest syndrome. She said: 'The whole 'empty nest' thing is becoming more of a reality. It was the worst feeling in the world when India left home and went to uni. I was in floods of tears dropping her off. Coco has got two more years at home and then she'll be going off to university, and I'm already panicking about it. Any parent will know that impending sense of doom when you're shopping for kitchen utensils and feeling like you're doing a funeral procession around Ikea. The drive to uni and saying goodbye is awful, followed by the horrible feeling of heading home knowing they won't be there. I do know they'll come back, though.' Despite turning 60, Jo is still very much heading out and about this Summer to music festivals, but it is parties closer to home she now enjoys. She explained: 'Festivals are great, but my favourite parties are the ones we have at our house. They're a whole weekend event. We have DJ decks, lighting and candles, and it's so much fun. The day after, about 40 of us go to the Super Sausage, our local transport cafe, and have a fry-up. Then it's back to ours for films and a curry in the evening. I adore those weekends.' * The September issue of woman&home is on sale July 24. Jo Whiley is on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds each Monday to Thursday, 7-9pm.

Nicki Minaj asks Florida congresswoman for help over alleged threat amid feud with SZA
Rapper Nicki Minaj reached out to Florida congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna for help over alleged threats a DJ and streamer made in response to her social media beef with SZA. MackWop, an associate of the record label Top Dawg Entertainment, chimed in on the feud during a livestream, telling Minaj: 'Hey, Nicki, relax, relax before you get put in a blender like your boy did.' SZA is signed under TDE. Minaj, whose real name is Onika Maraj-Petty, re-posted a clip of the livestream on X Thursday, writing, 'Is this a threat?' She tagged the FBI in her post. '@MackWop did you just threaten to harm me? @FBI I want this man investigated right away,' she wrote in a follow-up post. According to Complex, MackWop could have been referring to the feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, who is on the same Young Money Entertainment label as Minaj. The 'Super Bass' rapper, however, didn't take the comment lightly and made a post addressing Luna, who previously made headlines for calling for the release of rapper Tory Lanez after he was convicted of shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion in the foot in 2020. '@RepLuna this man just publicly threatened me,' Minaj posted. 'I've notified the FBI & CIA. I want this thug locked up & I'm ready to talk about everything these ppl have done to me.' Luna said she would help Minaj. 'Can confirm, I spoke with @NICKIMINAJ directly and will be doing everything we can to ensure her safety,' the Republican congresswoman said. 'We take threats of violence and assassination very seriously. RICO is also illegal. I am deeply concerned that there has been unchecked corruption within certain aspects of the rap industry. Artists should be respected and not afraid of managers, labels, etc.' Earlier this week Minaj took a few jabs at SZA, whose real name is Solána Imani Rowe, while coming after Top Dawg Entertainment founder Punch, according to Complex. In a lengthy, vulgar post on X on Thursday, Minaj claimed that she was originally asked to be featured on Drake's song 'Rich Baby Daddy' instead of SZA. 'He wanted me & sexy on it. I still have the version of just drake & sexy,' she posted, referring to rapper Sexyy Red, who is also featured on the song. The pair continued to go back and forth with Minaj calling SZA a 'clown.'

No further action to be taken over Kneecap's Glastonbury set
The Irish language rap trio from Belfast featured as part of the Somerset music festival this year. A criminal investigation was launched by Avon and Somerset Police shortly afterwards. It said it had appointed a senior detective to investigate whether comments made on stage amounted to a criminal offence after reviewing footage. Today we informed Kneecap no further action will be taken after an investigation into comments made at Glastonbury Festival.
