Couple clean away cobwebs in basement and make unexpected discovery
A couple have uncovered a time capsule under their floorboards - and it has made them question everything. The woman explained how she and her husband were cleaning their basement when they came across something unexpected under the floorboards.
On closer inspection, he saw hand-written note which reads: "Welcome to the E Club members." Alongside this was a poster advertising a giveaway in 1969 where players could earn £62,500 in cash, two luxury cars or a holiday in Europe for two. Not only this but there was also a book about The Banana Splits with a sticker and its official 'code machine.'
Taking to Reddit, he said: "We were tidying up the basement and I asked my husband to vacuum some cobwebs and a letter got sucked out from a space under the floorboards… emptied it out and found a bunch of things, these were pretty neat."
Commenting on the find, the woman joked that she wishes the giveaway was still open because she'd "love to win a 1969 Stingray". One user said: "I saw E Club and thought you had time travellers!"
Another user added: "That's cool. I found an empty 6er of original Schlitz pull tab cans from 1962 and an empty pint of bourbon under the decking in my attic. I imagine some high school kids in 1962 snuck up there to get drunk.
"I also found a coke bottle and a Pepsi bottle from 1959 (the year the house was built) behind drywall in different places. Cleaned those up and have them on display. They're my treasures."
A third user said: "One banana two banana three banana four!" One more user added: "Loved the Banana Splits."
A final user said: "Treasure!"
It comes after a woman uncovered a secret room in her 127-year-old home.
She shared how she stumbled upon the concealed room when she noted something off about the panelling in an upstairs closet.
Upon closer inspection, she realised it was concealing something.
Sharing her find on Reddit, she wrote: "I found this room hidden in my house last year.
"The only way to access it is to take the panelling down in the closet upstairs. I think it's so cool! My house was built in 1897."
She shared how her son had insisted there was a discrepancy between the size of the attic and the rest of the house, suggesting an unseen area.
She revealed: "My son kept telling me that the attic did not add up with the downstairs. He said there had to be hidden space. Low and behold, there was."

Leah Williamson is the shy superstar who has eclipsed Bobby Moore
Leah Williamson has made history. By leading the Lionesses to glory, she has become the first England captain to lift two major trophies, eclipsing the achievements of the late Bobby Moore. Williamson is a natural poster girl for this England team. She leads by performance and lets her talent do the talking. Away from football, she attracts the biggest brands and sponsors and the most media attention. She is the face of Pepsi alongside Lionel Messi and modelled for Calvin Klein ahead of the tournament. There are shades of David Beckham in her leadership style and off-the-pitch popularity. In many ways, Williamson is not a stereotypical captain. She is a self-professed introvert and more reserved than some of the other leaders around her. Lucy Bronze is the Lionesses' most experienced player and probably the loudest on the pitch. She would have been an obvious pick to be captain when Sarina Wiegman took over as England manager in 2021. Williamson was 25 at the time, had just 20 caps and was not captain of her club team, Arsenal. But there was a reason Wiegman decided she was the perfect fit. She knew Williamson was going to be part of her long-term plans. She was the future, someone who could be moulded into a leader, with a little bit of guidance from the more experienced heads around her. Williamson had captained England at youth level and had impressed coaches with her natural organisational instincts. Keira Walsh recalled Williamson having to get her to team meetings on time when they were in youth age-group teams, describing the defender as the 'serious' one in their friendship. Williamson has also been guided by Arsenal captain Kim Little, who shares many of the same introverted traits and who learnt to embrace them from legendary Lioness Kelly Smith. 'I lead from within, that's my style,' Williamson said of her approach to captaincy. 'People like Kim, especially over the last couple of years, we've had quite a lot of conversations about that, because it's in our nature to be slightly more passive or let things play out and sometimes you have to be a bit more engaged and deal with things when they're happening. 'Maybe that development of just trying to recognise moments where it would be beneficial to act rather than trying to step back from the spotlight as much as possible.' 'She takes us all with her' Williamson may be more introverted but that does not mean she is not vocal. When England conceded their second goal against France in their opening match at these Euros, Williamson gathered her team-mates into a huddle and barked instructions. She did the same when they were 3-0 down against Belgium in April. She can deliver passionate speeches when required. 'She rallies the team, gets everyone going, keeps everyone together, and leads by example in the way she plays,' team-mate Ella Toone said. 'You want your captain to really step up in games and she definitely does that. She takes us all with her as well. 'She's a great captain and one that you want to play under and one that you want to work hard for. Because you know that when she goes out on to that pitch, she'll give absolutely everything for everyone. She's a great person too.' Williamson has made an effort to be more sociable with her team-mates during this tournament. She joked that during the last Euros she spent her free time sleeping but has consciously tried to be more present this time around. 'Beth Mead was laughing at me the other day because I did the day in the life of her which meant I didn't go back to my room, I was very sociable,' Williamson said earlier in the tournament. 'I said to her: 'I don't know how you do this every day,' and she said: 'This is my every day.' I said: 'Yes, it's crazy to me, I'm not that type of person'.' Williamson was a key member of the Euro 2022 squad but missed the World Cup after rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament three months before the tournament. She admitted on the eve of the Lionesses' first game in Switzerland that she had held some anxiety coming into this tournament. It is perhaps fair to say Williamson has not enjoyed as good a tournament as she did in 2022. There have been difficult moments, her passing has not always been as crisp and accurate as we have come to expect. There had been high expectations given Williamson enjoyed one of her best games in recent memory when Arsenal beat Barcelona in the Champions League final. But she has not been helped by the fact her centre-back partner has changed three times at this tournament. She started alongside Alex Greenwood, then played three games with Jess Carter next to her before Esme Morgan was brought in for the semi-final with Italy. Williamson may also have been playing with the added pressure of feeling she has to solve every issue in England's defence. It is a trait Bronze had in the earlier part of her England career. What is clear is that her team-mates know they are a better team with her than without her. When there was a doubt over whether Williamson would be fit for the semi-final after rolling her ankle against Sweden, Morgan said before the game: 'I want what is best for the team and that is absolutely having our captain on the pitch.' 'She's just an incredible girl' Many of this squad have known Williamson since childhood. They have seen her go from the quiet kid to the face of women's football. 'I remember stepping into Arsenal at 12 years old and saying to my parents, 'Leah's going to be England captain one day,'' Chloe Kelly said. 'She's just an incredible girl, shows great leadership qualities and is so approachable, someone that I get on so well with. To captain England at major tournaments, there is a lot of pressure, but it doesn't show in Leah's personality at all. She's just so consistent, highs, lows and everything in between. She's a great England captain.'

Love Island fans insist returning Islander ‘did their research' as they expose ‘game plan'
LOVE Island fans insist a returning Islander 'did their research' as they expose their 'game plan.' Irish star Megan made her villa return this week in shock scenes, alongside fellow dumped Islander Blu. 3 3 Megan was voted least favourite girl after dumping Tommy for Conor, before being axed. But her return has seen her head straight for Conor to pick up where they left off. However, Love Island viewers aren't convinced, with some saying that the brunette beauty has returned to the dating show with a game plan. Taking to Reddit, one person speculated: 'Irish Megan really did her homework. Notice how when Yasmin first came in irish Megan threw the blame on her calling her 'boring and sloppy' and never held Harry or Dejon accountable. 'But now she's flipping the script, telling the girls 'Oh the boys were the problem' and 'It's not Shakira it's Harry.' They continued: 'Since her return, Helena who's always laughing and scoffed 'I'm not threatened by Shakira.' is now crying….its no coincidence that both Helena and Megan are shifting the blame onto Harry instead of Shakira after irish meg came in because they would've jumped guns blazing on Shakira if they hadn't known what the public say about them.' And the poster finished by saying: 'They're even openly acknowledging the 'divide' for the first time and Megan who was confidently arguing with 4+ girls during movie night is now shedding crocodile tears for people to sympathise with her…irish meg TRUST and believe that you will be on that spirit flight back to england i've had enough of them rigging this season and painting shakira and toni as the villains.' The comment was liked by thousands of people in agreement, but not everyone agreed with the theory. Some said it was a good thing that Megan was calling out the boys for their actions, while others fumed that the word 'game player' was being thrown about too easily. Love Island fans praise Megan as she calls out Harry for his actions in brutal speech On her villa return, Megan revealed the real reason she decided to come back. She said: "I'm excited to go back in, I think I left quite abruptly and I'm going back in for some clarity. "It was an easy decision to make. "When you can't speak to people for a couple of weeks and have to watch them on telly every night, you want some answers." Some Love Island fans ended up complaining to Ofcom about Megan and Blu's return to the villa. "Producers are ****s, they bring Megan back now that Shakira + Conor are happy + now I've seen that they've put the clip of Shakira + Toni talking about meg + demon in the grafties? "I hate them and ofcom will be hearing from me." Someone else added: "And the voting was rigged - I'm complaining to ofcom too, sick of the lies." A third penned: "@itv bringing back meg over alima is disgraceful. And I will be complaining to ofcom. "Megan recieved the lowest amount of votes. Alimas was never voted out by the public but by somone stealing her man. "S10 molly was kicked out the same way and eventually brought back." A fourth then said: "Everyone needs to complain to ofcom after that episode!!!!!!!" While a fifth added: "I'm actually gonna file an ofcom complaint cause how can they disregard our votes like that? "Megan literally had the lowest votes for favourite girl FOR A REASON." 3

'UK's poshest Greggs' is in Grade II listed building and steeped in history
Greggs is one of the UK's most beloved fast food chains, and fans of the eatery are just realising there's a particularly 'posh' branch in a 300-year-old building There's nothing quite like sinking your teeth into a Greggs pastry while you're rushing about, or grabbing one of their sandwiches or coffees from the beloved sausage roll emporium for your lunch. Devotees love it for being affordable and dependable - and you can spot its distinctive blue, white and yellow Greggs branding from miles away. But this particular branch in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, appears rather different and has been crowned "the poshest" Greggs in Britain. This extraordinary branch sits within a 17th century Grade II* listed structure and is frequently hailed as the most beautiful Greggs across the nation. The heritage building's facade features timber panelling and merges Victorian, Georgian, Tudor and 1930s architectural elements. Back in the 1700s, it launched as a grocer and tea merchant, which remained in business until the 1960s. Today, it houses Britain's beloved bakery chain. Until recently, the outlet was covered in scaffolding as part of an 18-month restoration scheme. This work is now finished: the building's front has been reconstructed whilst numerous windows have been renewed and sections of the roof have been fixed. On Reddit, the outlet was christened "the country's poshest Greggs". This week, a TikTok user posted footage of the establishment and declared: "Sorry but this is the poshest Greggs I've ever seen." Greggs responded to the clip, saying: "RIP Henry VIII you would have loved Bury St Edmunds Greggs." Someone else remarked: "That isn't a Greggs. That's a Gregorys." Another said: "It's like Greggs and Wetherspoons had a baby." Another person concurred, observing: "That ain't Greggs that's Gregory's tavern for the whimsical." "I just know people eating sausage rolls with their pinky's out," one user quipped. Another likened the place to "Greggs if it was in a fantasy world." A local resident chimed in: "I grew up in that town. Everybody called it bakers oven cause that's what it was called before Greggs took it over." "I kind of like the fact they've not changed the outside of the building too much," said one other. "Love Bury Greggs," another fan declared. "If only every Greggs looked like that," added one other. In other food news, a woman recently tried a"secret" coffee shop at Buckingham Palace but was floored by the price. Another food lover tried the "UK's most expensive sandwiches" from Harrods and shared her review. Do you have a story? Get in touch at
