West Indies head coach Daren Sammy fined for ICC Code of Conduct breach during first Test against Australia
The sanction relates to comments made by Sammy during a media interaction at the end of Day 2, where he criticised one of the match officials in reference to multiple incidents throughout the day's play.
The 41-year-old was found to have violated Article 2.7 of the Code, which pertains to "public criticism of, or inappropriate comment in relation to an incident occurring in an International Match or any Player, Player Support Personnel, Match Official or team participating in any International Match."
As a result, one demerit point has also been added to Sammy's disciplinary record, his first offence in a 24-month period.
Sammy admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Javagal Srinath of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, after the charge was levelled by on-field umpires Richard Kettleborough and Nitin Menon, third umpire Adrian Holdstock, and fourth umpire Gregory Brathwaite.
Level 1 offences carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum of a 50% match fee fine, along with one or two demerit points.
The visiting Australian side thumped West Indies by 159 runs after the home side lost all ten wickets in the final session on Day three, while chasing the 301-run target in a game that was filled with twists and turns.
The second Test begins on Thursday, 3rd July at the National Cricket Stadium in St George's. (

He said that there is no dearth of talent in the Pakistan team, they are only lacking confidence. Salman Agha to lead Pakistan squad for Tri-Series, Asia Cup; Babar, Rizwan dropped
Islamabad : Salman Agha has been named Pakistan's captain for the upcoming T20I tri-series and Asia Cup scheduled to take place in the UAE from 29 August to 28 September, as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 17-member squad on Sunday. Pakistan batter Babar Azam and wicketkeeper/batter Mohammad Rizwan have been dropped from the side for both series. Azam, despite being the second-highest run scorer in the shortest format, has not found a place in the squad. Following the West Indies ODIs, where the previous captain scored only 56 runs in three games, with a high score of 47, Babar was left out. Left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman, who suffered a hamstring injury during the T20I series against West Indies, has been named in the squad. Saim Ayub, after being the highest run scorer against the West Indies in the recently concluded T20 series, has also found a spot in the team. Cairns: Australia's seasoned all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who delivered a Player of the Match performance in the third T20I against South Africa, levelled former opener David Warner's elusive feat and broke India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav's six-hitting record on Saturday. While Maxwell delivered a spectacle with his sheer power-hitting, his magic in the outfield went under the radar. With a stellar piece of fielding, Maxwell completed the priceless catch of Dewald Brevis and went level with his former teammate Warner's record. His eye-catching effort marked his 62nd outfield catch for Australia, the joint-highest for the nation alongside Warner.
