Former Pakistan cricket team captain loves peaceful Oman
Coming to Oman after a gap of almost 33 years, Inzamam was glad to see the city and many things almost in the same shape, as he saw way back in 1992-93.
Even though this was a two-day trip, the former Pakistan team captain fell in instant love with the peaceful nature of the city and he decided that he will make another trip to the country.
He said that he has heard about the natural beauty of the Sultanate of Oman, and desired to explore the entire country soon.
When asked about the dismal state of Pakistan cricket, he said that while looking at the encounter against West Indies in Trinidad which they lost by 202 runs, the condition of this team doesn't look good.
'But it's good that younger people are getting an opportunity. They are a talented lot and can perform better in the future. What I feel today is that whenever a team is made, it's a combination of juniors and seniors. If you maintain a proper balance between these two, Insallah the performance of the team will improve day by day.
'The main problem with the players today is that they are lacking confidence. In cricket, even if a player is very talented, if he feels that after playing two or three matches, he will be thrown out, his performance will go down.'
He said that there is no dearth of talent in the Pakistan team, they are only lacking confidence. Babar is also suffering from a similar problem, he said, adding when you play for very long, a bad patch will definitely come in your career.
'Babar is a world class player, he needs your backing. If you support him, he will bounce back to form soon and perform much better than in the past,' Inzamam concluded.

‘Khareef Dhofar 2025 Explorer' Project launched
Taqah: The 'Khareef Dhofar 2025 Explorer' project was launched on Sunday evening at Darbat Park in Dhofar Governorate. The initiative aims to enhance the experience of visitors of Khareef Dhofar (monsoon) season through an interactive digital platform that documents their participation in events. It also supports digital transformation in event management, provides accurate data on visitor patterns and distribution, encourages family participation, and reduces reliance on paper materials. The launch ceremony was held under the patronage of HH Sayyid Marwan Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar. Sumayyah Abdullah Al Ramadhani, CEO of Elif Entrepreneurship, the project's implementing company, stated that the launch of the 'Explorer' represents the first digital experience of its kind in Oman. It combines entertainment, exploration, and digital transformation during tourism seasons and enables small and medium-sized enterprises to participate in the rich and diverse tourism landscape. Mohammed Mohsin Al Maamari, an investor at Darbat Park, noted that the project is a qualitative addition to the Khareef Dhofar season. He said it promotes sustainable tourism by integrating technology and entertainment, opening up new horizons for domestic tourism. The launch event included a visual presentation of the initiative and the launch of the 'Dhofar Khareef 2025 Explorer' digital platform. The platform allows visitors to receive a digital stamp upon attending any event. It also enables users to manage multiple explorers within a single account and provides instant, accurate analytics to support strategic planning and decision-making. The project is a collaboration with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and Dhofar Municipality. It aims to integrate modern technologies into events, enhance environmental sustainability, reduce waste, and support digital transformation by automating attendance registration and analysing visitor behaviour.

National junior tennis team begins campaign in Arab championship
Muscat: Oman's national junior tennis team will begin its campaign tomorrow in the Arab U14 Championship, hosted by the Tunisian capital until 23 August, with the participation of ten Arab teams. The Omani squad consists of six players, including Moataz Al Mazroei, Abdulrahman Al Rahbi, Azzan Al Busaidi, Aren Al Azkawi, Talia Al Busaidi, and Salma Al Riyami. The team is led by coaches Svyat Dub (boys' team) and Sergey Pershin (girls' team). This participation follows a successful three-week preparatory camp in Egypt, which included intensive training sessions and friendly matches as part of a joint training program for Arab national teams. The camp provided the players with valuable experience ahead of the championship. The tournament will be held on the clay courts of the La Marsa Club in Tunis, featuring teams from Oman, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, and Iraq. Ahmed Al Balushi, head of the delegation, emphasized the significance of this participation for the U14 category, as it helps players gain experience and earn international ranking points. He noted that the players are optimally prepared after the Egypt training camp and expressed hope for strong results and high placements in the competition.
