Carl Webster and Kevin Webster (Jonathan Howard and Michael Le Vell) both recently made shocking discoveries about each other in Coronation Street.
Kevin discovered that Carl has been using his garage as a base for stealing cars, in cahoots with a woman called Fiona. He tried to stop Fiona making off with a vehicle, but became unwell and Glenda (Jodie Prenger) had to take him to hospital.
Kevin has been going through gruelling treatment for cancer, and of course the worry was that his collapse was related to his cancer. But when Carl got to the hospital and spoke to one of the doctors he was gobsmacked to learn that Kevin had been given the all-clear at his last appointment and is cancer free.
Kevin has been letting his family think that he still has cancer, so Carl now had something on his brother that he could use to stop him telling the police about the stolen cars.
The reason Kevin has been pretending to still have cancer is that he's secretly terrified that his wife Abi (Sally Carman) may be about to have an affair with Carl. His plan is that Abi won't leave him while she thinks he's still going through treatment, and he can use that time to make her fall in love with him again.
In upcoming episodes Abi is angry with Carl for causing trouble with Kevin, and Carl has to bite his tongue to stop himself telling her about Kev's lies.
But when Abi talks to Tyrone (Alan Halsall) about how to tell Kevin's son Jack (Kyran Bowes) that Kevin's treatment hasn't worked, Tyrone is forced to tell her that Kevin confessed to him a while ago that he's actually cancer-free.
Abi is fuming and won't listen to Kevin's pleas that he only pretended about the cancer in order to save their marriage. It actually has the opposite effect and she goes straight off to find Carl, falling into his arms for a passionate kiss.

I have to warn you after watching 'heart-stabbing' Netflix film My Oxford Year

Netflix has just released a new film that has fan up in arms about its ending, questioning its classification as a rom-com – and I'm afraid to say, is also just a bit crap. Fans have swarmed social media to reveal they are 'speechless', 'devastated' and generally crying their eyes out over the movie, while others have taken it to task for being 'so boring' and leaving them 'feeling nothing' for any other characters. And I wholeheartedly agree. Not only does My Oxford Year take a very long time to introduce any stakes, but before we get there it's a painful watch for British fans not particularly interested in the film's tourist porn shots of the titular city and university. And while they do at least cast English actors in English parts (Corey Mylchreest, Dougray Scott, Catherine McCormack), some of the schmaltz could not more obviously point to American involvement – we just don't mix well with unnecessarily twinkling and dramatic music underscoring even the most mundane of teaching scenes. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. The 'rom-com', loosely based on the book by American author Julia Whelan, who attended Oxford herself, concerns ambitious working-class New Yorker Anna (Sofia Carson), who is attending the University of Oxford to study Victorian poetry as a postgraduate. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video While there she falls for charming local Jamie (Queen Charlotte's Mylchreest), who also happens to be teaching her classes, and the pair begin a very tedious, chemistry-free flirtationship before a secret he's been hiding threatens their burgeoning romance. (Also warning you that, despite Bridgerton raising our expectations in this department, there are no steamy sex scenes to be found here, and even their tiringly clichéd kiss in the rain gave me nothing.) *Spoilers ahead for My Oxford Year* This is where My Oxford Year takes a sharp left into cancerbait territory, revealing that Jamie is doomed to succumb to an unspecified form of the disease, just like his late brother, despite looking and acting like the healthiest, liveliest rake in the room – plus, y'know, Mylchreest. Obviously, they are reminding us that not everyone fatally ill looks or acts that way (and nor should they have to), but it's a clumsily made point when the film decides to give Mylchreest his first topless scene while receiving chemotherapy. And then they belatedly whack out the greyish face make-up for one scene later on. My Year at Oxford's ending reveals that Jamie does indeed die after catching a critical case of pneumonia, sharing the news surprisingly subtly as Anna lies in bed with Jamie, narrating the stops of the grand European tour they intended to go on. While the montage initially shows the couple happily together exploring Amsterdam, Venice, Paris and the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion in Greece, the camera then swings around to reveal Anna on her own taking the trip instead – and fine, yes, okay, I got a little burning behind the eyes at this, but it is not a high bar to pass for a film to manipulate me intro crying. It proved even more emotionally effective for others though. 'Did I finish the movie or did the movie finish me?' asked fan Agnes on X over My Oxford Year's traumatic conclusion. 'Thought I was signing up for a chill romantic movie with a few clichés. Instead, My Oxford Year wrecked me emotionally, stabbed me in the heart and walked away like nothing happened. That ending?? RUDE. Yeah. I'm not okay. Not even a little bit,' ranted user @_httpSea_, echoing a lot of the shocked reaction to the film. 'My Oxford Year is the biggest Trojan horse ever seen. I thought I was watching a silly romcom and I just got depressed with the ending of it,' tweeted @JENNIEDEMIE. 'Why did nobody warn me that it ended like that and why am I bawling over a movie I thought would be a cute and silly rom com,' complained Lily-Rose, while Mel shared: 'Netflix really thought the book My Oxford Year wasn't sad enough, so they proceed to change the ending to send us in therapy.' Critics have not been kind to My Oxford Year, with it sitting at a dismal 29% on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes at the time of publication. Collider criticised it for having the 'plot and character development out of a Wattpad novel written by a 15-year-old One Direction fan', while The New York Times called it 'a limp attempt at being this generation's About Time'. 'An uninspired yet competently assembled trifle,' mused The Guardian's two-star review, with critic Benjamin Lee saying the cancer twist will be 'met with a sigh of disappointment' for being so hackneyed. Other viewers agreed, with one saying it was 'pretty pointless' and another that it was 'worse than mediocre'. Noga E described it as 'a painful failure' in comparison to the book while Nina B complained: 'There's no spark, no soul – just two hours of hollow stares and fake chemistry.' 'It's as if A Walk to Remember and Me Before You had a very, very odd cousin that no one wants to hang out with,' added Teresita G. I knew what I was in for when the film mentioned how much it rains in the UK after barely a minute, and Carson began her narration as Anna by quoting poet Henry David Thoreau. Literature references are always the sign of an overly earnest film as you'd never catch a normal human going around quoting poetry, including out loud and at somebody (which also happens later in the film) to make a comparison, even if you were studying it at university (and I did). More Trending That sort of thing is far too intense and emotional, control yourself… which I guess may prove the film's point about British people being repressed and not wanting to talk about their feelings, which is what drives a wedge between Jamie and his father, played by Scott. So I'll give it that, I guess. My Oxford Year is streaming now on Netflix. Got a story? Celebrity SAS star Hannah Spearritt's life including quitting UK and S Club heartbreak

S Club 7 star Hannah Sprearitt is best known for being an original band member of the pop group as well as appearing in sci-fi drama Primeval and BBC soaps Casualty and EastEnders Hannah Sprearitt is one of the 14 recruits called up to take part in the latest series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. ‌ The famous faces will abandon their glamorous and luxurious lifestyles to immerse themselves in the punishing Special Forces training environment. ‌ This year's course will be physically demanding and psychologically gruelling, all but a few who take part will fail but who will make it to the end and eventually pass? ‌ Speaking about her latest challenge, Hannah said: "I hope to take out of this experience, strength. I want to feel stronger again, mentally and physically, because there's always improvement there. "There are always dips that happen along the way with motherhood or whatever but I think when you just experience different stuff, it changes you. I have no idea what to expect, but I do know it will be an experience and it's something that I will have for life." ‌ She added: "However the experience goes, I am going to learn about myself. Maybe I'll find out I am a bit of a mess or I might find out that I'm stronger than I think I am…it's finding out things about yourself that you would never, ever find out. "We live in this world where it's so easy to live in our comfort zone, so this is an opportunity to get outside of that and…for me anyway, growth and expansion is one of the most important things, and that is something that hopefully I can pass on to my kids." Why did Hannah leave S Club 7? ‌ In 1998, Hannah auditioned for and became a member of S Club 7. In the five years they were together, the group had four UK number one singles and a UK number one album. They recorded a total of four studio albums, released eleven singles and went on to sell over fourteen million albums worldwide. ‌ However, In 2003, a year after band member Paul Cattermole left the group, they announced during a live onstage performance that they were to disband. 11 years alter, all seven band members reunited for a UK arenas tour. In February 2023, the band announced that they would reunite for a 25th anniversary tour later that year but two months later, Hannah's ex Paul died of several heart conditions. In May 2023, the group announced that they had changed their name to S Club and that Hannah would not join them on their coming tour, which they would honour as the Good Times Tour as a tribute to Paul. ‌ Hannah said at the time that she was "extremely excited" to get back together with her bandmates but Paul's death "changed everything". 'I hadn't been in the best of health. I've got a compromised immune system and stress makes it worse," she told The Sun. ‌ "My body just couldn't cope with everything that was happening. I wasn't myself. I was getting these crippling panic attacks, was suffering from really bad vertigo and was tired all the time." She said it was also "affecting my kids too" as she had no energy, adding that she had to make a decision that was right for her and her family. Hannah also issued an apology to fans as she said she didn't want to let them down. Why did Hannah leave the UK? ‌ Hannah recently revealed earlier this year that she'd put her pop star days behind her and has taken up a new career a farmer in Costa Rica. A trip to the region in 2018 is said to have proved transformative and inspired the family to seek out a simpler lifestyle. The Reach hitmaker gave fans an insight into her new life on social media after making the move with her partner, Adam Thomas, and their two daughters, Taya and Tora. ‌ Taking to Instagram, she shared a picture of her daughters enjoying a meal in their new surroundings. So far the change appears to be agreeing with her with the former Dancing On Ice contestant writing in the accompanying caption: "Well... we finally made it to paradise. Beautiful country, beautiful people." Hannah previously spoke out about being left homeless with the faily being forced to move into an office. They were given two months to find somewhere else to live when their landlord sold the rented property they were living in but the moving date was brought forward and left the couple with nowhere to go.

Who is Tia Wardley in Coronation Street? True identity 'solved' in Lisa twist

Coronation Street fans think they know who Tia Wardley really is after Carla Connor was given the name by Logan Radcliffe after asking about Lisa Swain's late wife Becky Tia Wardley in Coronation Street has certainly got viewers speculating over their mystery identity. ‌ The name was mentioned on Friday, and it was hinted they were linked to the case surrounding Becky Swain's demise. Lisa Swain is still struggling to move past the death of her police officer wife Becky years earlier, even looking into the case. ‌ It comes after suggestion earlier this year that Becky may have been a corrupt officer, leading to her possibly being killed. Becky died in the line of duty, hit by a car which was later revealed to have been driven by Logan and Matty Radcliffe. ‌ It was their hints about Becky that left Lisa fearing Becky was in trouble and may have deliberately been killed. But as she and others went snooping this week, she was stopped by her superior DI Costello who clearly knows more than he's letting on. He won't go into matters with Lisa and threatened punishment when he caught her looking at files on his computer. With Carla Connor trying to help her parnter Lisa get the answer she desperately needs, she went to see Logan in prison. ‌ All Logan would say was the name Tia Wardley, demanding money for any new information. But something happened to Logan before anyone would have the chance to see him again. It was because of the chat with Carla and the name he'd shared that he learned from a cellmate how he'd upset a "mutual friend". It seems Logan then got a beating or worse, with fans convinced he may be dead. ‌ So who is Tia, and why are so many people covering up what went down? Why is Costello so eager to silence any investigation into Becky's death, and why is it so important that Logan doesn't spill anything about Becky, or even the mystery Tia? Fans think it has everything to do with Tia's identity, and that she and Becky may be linked. In fact fans think Becky isn't actually dead, and she could have been given a new identity. Fans are wondering if Tia is Becky under a new name, and that there is much more to be exposed. Perhaps this is why Logan mentioned the name, or maybe why Costello is possibly covering things up. ‌ Get the latest drama from the Dales by joining our Emmerdale WhatsApp group As drama continues to unfold in the Yorkshire Dales, the Mirror has launched its very own Emmerdale WhatsApp community where you'll get all the latest breaking news, secrets, and spoilers delivered straight to your phone. Could that be Becky's cover name if she was corrupt?" A third fan said: "Becky is 'Tia Wardley'?" A fourth fan posted: "Tia Wardley will be Becky?!" as another agreed: "Could 'Tia Wardley' be Becky's new identity since after she 'died'?" The comments kept on coming too, with one fan writing: "Becky swain is Tia Wardley." A final comment said: "Becky is in witness protection and Tia Wardley is her alias, that's why Carla couldn't find anything and why they don't want Lisa AND Kit digging."
