Johannesburg's vibrant music scene is set to come alive with the much-anticipated 'Jazz for Young People' festival, presented by the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz. This unique event, scheduled for July 26, 2025, at the National School of Arts (NSA) in Braamfontein, promises a full day of world-class jazz, family fun, and a powerful celebration of youth, creativity, and community spirit.
A Festival by Young People, for Young People
'Jazz for Young People' is more than just a concert, it is a movement designed to nurture the next generation of jazz lovers, musicians, and entrepreneurs. Running from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, the festival is curated with young audiences in mind, offering a platform for budding jazz artists to showcase their talents and for young entrepreneurs to access new opportunities.

She will visit several participating schools, mentoring students and helping them polish their performances for the big stage.

Art enthusiasts can explore an exhibition of jazz-inspired artworks created by NSA students, offering a visual feast that complements the sounds on stage.
No festival experience is complete without great food, and this event delivers with a variety of food stalls serving up delicious, succulent dishes to suit every palate.
Building Community Through the Arts

Bombshells and husband drama with Makoto Phumodi of ‘Married At First Sight SA'

The conversation around sex between you and your husband sparked a major debate online. Is intimacy a deal breaker for you in a relationship? Intimacy is important to me. If we can't connect emotionally, it won't work. My husband didn't believe in foreplay or kissing when we first met so those are the things we had to learn about each other and overcome. Tshepo Miya has made a few comments about you. What's the story behind the tension between you? My husband confided in Miya a lot. Our argument happened off camera when Miya said I shouldn't ask my husband about his whereabouts, ' Monna ha a botswe o tswa kae .' He was basically saying my husband can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, and I shouldn't ask anything. When I reacted to the comment, he called me disrespectful. If you could design your ideal husband, what qualities would he have? My ideal husband is someone who's going to take the time to know and understand the type of person I am, embracing every scar and helping me grow. What's your relationship like with the other cast members? Besides my husband, Palesa Mphaki is my girl. We've built a beautiful relationship outside the show. We talk on the phone almost every day. Portia Baloyi and I chat here and there, and as for Nelisa Ntabeni, I don't have a relationship with her. How does it feel to watch your own journey unfold on screen? It's amazing. I'm not shocked by anything. People think I'm acting, but little do they know, I react like that in my everyday life. Why should people keep watching your journey on Married at First Sight South Africa ? There's so much drama coming. People love drama and this show is packed with it. I would say it is one of the best reality shows and they do not want to miss out.

US R&B star Joe Thomas honoured with Hall of Fame star at Ndlala Mall

The star was part of the official walkabouts assessing the mall's readiness, where he received the first-ever Hall of Fame star at the premises — a recognition he described as deeply meaningful. Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Joe said he was honoured by the gesture and excited to return to South Africa, a country he holds dear. 'It's always refreshing being in South Africa because it's always love,' he said. 'Unfortunately, I experienced glitches in my previous performance. I received an offer to perform at Ndlala Mall and I grabbed that opportunity so I could do justice to my fans who paid their hard-earned money to see me perform but experienced bad sound during my performance.'
