This TV Personality Beats BTS To Top The Most Influential Celebrity List In South Korea
BTS has become a worldwide sensation over the decade, and the members, including RM, Suga, Jin, Jimin, V, J-Hope and Jungkook, are some of the most loved celebrities in pop culture. With the K-pop boy band's rapid popularity internationally, the idols are often called 'living legends'. However, it seems in their home country someone else is ruling over the hearts and minds of people.
For the second year in a row, the Sisa Journal conducted a yearly survey, which showed South Korean TV personality Yoo Jae Suk surpassed BTS' standards, securing the top spot on the list of the most influential figures in the entertainment industry.
Yoo Jae Suk got ahead of BTS with a whopping 39-point difference, leading the regular civilians list with over 70 points while BTS stood at 31.4 points. They were followed by Kang Ho Dong, best known for his hosting and variety skills, and When Life Gives You Tangerines actress IU. The top list further consisted of renowned personalities, including Shin Dong Yup, Jun Hyun Moo, Lim Young Woong, BLACKPINK, Son Seok Hwi and Kim Oh Jun.
In the experts' list, Yoo Jae Suk again secured the top spot with 23.6 points, defeating BTS. The top 3 also brought in BLACKPINK with a fervour, followed by IU, Kang Ho Dong, Son Seok Hwi, Shin Dong Youp, Na Young Seok, Jun Hyun Moo and Kim Oh Jun. Singer Lim Young Woong was not included in the experts' list and was replaced by Channel Full Moon producer Na PD.

Yoo Jae Suk is a famous South Korean comedian, host and TV personality known for hosting various well-known variety television shows, including Infinite Challenge, Running Man, Happy Together and Hangout With Yoo. With his incredible sense of humour and quick wit, Yoo Jae Suk's appeal spread across a wide range of demographics.
What Was BTS' Stand In The List?
The results showed BTS to improve their standing in both lists from the previous year. In the civilian list, the OT7 improved their standing by 12 points, whereas the experts regarded them in a similar ranking as last year, with a growth of 1.6 points. This improvement came after the group's return following their discharge from mandatory military services. The group is currently in Los Angeles working on their comeback album, which is set to release in spring 2026.

Each film has been upgraded with 5.1 channel surround sound for an immersive experience worthy of the group's legendary performances. Screening Schedule and Special Events The event will unfold in two parts. The 2016 and 2017 concerts will be screened during the first week, followed by the 2019 and 2021 performances in the second week. To wrap up the celebration, an all-day marathon will take place on October 5, showcasing all four films back-to-back for die-hard fans. The 2017 film highlights their explosive rise with performances of 'Blood Sweat & Tears," 'DNA," and 'MIC Drop." The 2019 London show documents their historic performance at Wembley Stadium, while the 2021 Muster Sowoozoo celebrates their eighth anniversary with ARMY. TXT's Taehyun reveals abusive training days at the company that launched K-pop legends BTS: ‘We did get hit back then…'
The K-pop industry is no stranger to stories about how tough it can be for idols before they debut. Behind the glamour and global stardom lies a notoriously competitive system where young trainees are pushed to their limits. But over time, as K-pop has gone international and idols have found support in millions of fans worldwide, the industry has slowly started to leave behind some of its harsher, more conservative practices. TXT's Soobin and Taehyun Recently, TXT leader Soobin shed light on just how intense those trainee years were. In a now-viral clip from a Weverse livestream, he revealed that both he and his bandmate Taehyun were subjected to physical punishments while learning choreography. According to Soobin, this all happened when they were still kids. 'This was when me and Taehyun had just been dancing for a week or two we were both extremely young kids, 8th and 10th graders who couldn't even stretch our arms out properly…the seventeen hyungs do really hard choreographies, right? And they suddenly asked us to dance to this song and it's not even like the teacher taught us the choreography, they told us to learn it ourselves by watching the video so me and Taehyun watched the video at 0.5x to learn the choreography and it seemed reallllly tough, so it was a given that we wouldn't be able to dance well to it.' To which Soobin added, '(Sighs) Taehyun ended up saying it but we did get hit back then…we got hit while we learnt it…' The leader further admitted that some other trainees actually had it even worse than them. While the revelation was shocking for many fans, Soobin reassured them that the industry is no longer the same. 'They had physical punishments back then but if they physically punish someone now, they'd get in huge trouble,' he said. For MOAs (TXT's fandom), the livestream was a mix of emotions — heartbreaking to hear what their idols endured as middle schoolers, but also relieving to know the industry has made progress since then. 'This is actually so heartbreaking and I hope him and everyone else who endured this treatment have healed and are okay… that company can go to h3ll like,' was one comment under the post. One more comment said, 'I'm glad they talked about it, people need to realise what this industry is like. I'm glad they're not beating people up any more, but that doesn't mean they're not being treated harshly anymore :(.' Another concerned fan wrote, 'This is so upsetting how was this allowed???' TXT, short for Tomorrow X Together, is a five-member boy band under Big Hit Entertainment — the same label that launched global icons BTS. The lineup includes Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and HueningKai.
