Chip‑Scale Interconnect Boosted as Tenstorrent Acquires Blue Cheetah
The Canadian‑based AI chipmaker announced on 1 July 2025 that it has secured Blue Cheetah, a Sunnyvale‑headquartered innovator specialising in analog and mixed‑signal IP for chiplet designs. The move brings Blue Cheetah's BlueLynx die‑to‑die interconnect subsystem—compatible with Open Compute Project's Bunch of Wires and Universal Chiplet Interconnect Express standards—directly under Tenstorrent's control.
Blue Cheetah, founded in 2018 and backed by Marvell luminaries Dr Sehat Sutardja and Weili Dai, has established a reputation for delivering customizable interconnect IP across various foundries and nodes. The startup's executive and engineering teams are led by co‑founder and CEO Dr Elad Alon, a recognised expert in analog/mixed‑signal design and technical lead for the Bunch of Wires PHY standard.

According to Tenstorrent CEO Jim Keller, the acquisition will 'accelerate our chiplet vision of creating an open chiplet ecosystem, with open interconnects optimised for each specific chiplet socket'. Bringing critical analog capabilities in‑house is expected to enhance performance and efficiency in AI systems, especially as chiplet architectures gain prominence in scaling compute workloads.
Dr Alon stated that Blue Cheetah had long collaborated with Tenstorrent as a customer and partner, and the merger will allow them to amplify their impact on chiplet ecosystems worldwide.
This deal marks Tenstorrent's first semiconductor acquisition in the United States, and builds on its previous licensing agreement with Blue Cheetah for die‑to‑die interconnect technology in its AI and RISC‑V chiplet solutions. Analysts suggest that this vertical integration provides Tenstorrent with tighter control over its interconnect IP roadmap, reducing dependency on external vendors and improving time‑to‑market for future designs.
Tenstorrent's global operations span offices in Austin, Silicon Valley, Toronto, Belgrade, Seoul, Tokyo and Bangalore, supported by investors including Eclipse Ventures, Samsung Catalyst Fund and Hyundai Motor Group. Blue Cheetah's integration deepens those ties, offering advanced analog interconnect capabilities critical to chiplet‑based AI and high‑performance computing platforms.
Industry observers highlight the timing of the acquisition as significant. As demand grows for modular chiplet architectures—driven by the escalating compute requirements of AI workloads—having proprietary, standards‑compliant interconnect IP in‑house may enable Tenstorrent to lead in chiplet performance and ecosystem development. Their strategy aligns with Open Compute Project's push for interoperable chiplet interfaces, signalling potential influence on emerging chiplet standards.
The hardware industry continues to shift from monolithic to chiplet‑driven designs, balancing energy efficiency, yield, and scalability. Tenstorrent's move mirrors broader efforts among AI‑hardware firms to secure key IP layers critical to end‑to‑end system performance. The Blue Cheetah team brings deep expertise in D2D, DDR, SerDes and physical‑link design—capabilities that are increasingly rare and valuable.'
Dr Alon shared on LinkedIn that the integration of Blue Cheetah's team into Tenstorrent reflects a shared vision to 'build simple and comparable chiplet ecosystems,' noting the appreciation extended to partners, investors and employees as they embark on this 'tremendous impact' together.

Air Canada to resume service gradually after deal to end cabin crew strike
Air Canada's unionised flight attendants reached an agreement with the country's largest carrier on Tuesday, ending the first strike by its cabin crew in 40 years that had upended travel plans for hundreds of thousands of passengers. The strike that lasted nearly four days had led the airline that serves about 130,000 people daily to withdraw its third-quarter and full-year earnings guidance. Shares of Air Canada rose 4% in early trading. They have lost 14% of their value so far this year. The carrier said it would gradually resume operations and a full restoration may require a week or more, while the union said it has completed mediation with the airline and its low-cost affiliate Air Canada Rouge. "The Strike has ended. We have a tentative agreement we will bring forward to you," the Canadian Union of Public Employees said in a Facebook post. Air Canada said some flights will be canceled over the next seven to ten days until the schedule is stabilized and that customers with canceled flights can choose between a refund, travel credit, or rebooking on another airline. The flight attendants walked off the job on Saturday after contract talks with the carrier failed. They had sought pay for tasks such as boarding passengers. While the details of the negotiations were not immediately released, the union said the unpaid work was over. The CUPE, which represents Air Canada's 10,400 flight attendants, wanted to make gains on unpaid work that go beyond recent advances secured by their counterparts at U.S. carriers like American Airlines AAL.O. In a rare act of defiance, the union remained on strike even after the Canada Industrial Relations Board declared its action unlawful. Their refusal to follow a federal labor board order for the flight attendants to return to work had created a three-way standoff between the company, workers and the government. Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu had urged both sides to consider government mediation and raised pressure on Air Canada on Monday, promising to investigate allegations of unpaid work in the airline sector. Over the past two years, unions in aerospace, construction, airline and rail sectors have pushed employers for higher pay, improved conditions and better benefits amid a tight labor market. Air Canada's flight attendants have for months argued new contracts should include pay for work done on the ground, such as boarding passengers. Its CEO had on Monday in a Reuters interview stopped short of offering plans to break the deadlock, while defending the airline's offer of a 38% boost to flight attendants' total compensation. While many customers had expressed support for the flight attendants, frustration with flight cancellations was growing. Retiree Klaus Hickman missed a flight to Toronto earlier in the week. While he rebooked on another airline, he was concerned about returning to Calgary on time for a connecting flight to Germany. Hickman sympathizes with workers demanding better pay but is worried about his own health and travel challenges. "They want to get more money to survive. And so it is with everybody else," he said. Canada's largest carrier normally carries 130,000 people daily and is part of the global Star Alliance of airlines. James Numfor, 38, from Regina, Saskatchewan, had been stranded in Toronto for two nights since returning from Cameroon for his brother's funeral. Air Canada only provided one night in a hotel for his family before leaving them without further support, he said. He had slept in the airport with his family.

The fact that 85% are already invested in UAE equities reflects a clear preference for local opportunities in the current environment.'Despite strong confidence in their local market, geopolitical risk is firmly on the minds of investors: 90% say tariffs and trade wars will significantly impact their portfolios in the next six months, and 89% have already adjusted or plan to adjust their investments in the most common way investors are adjusting their portfolios in response to trade tensions is by increasing exposure to UAE equities (53%), a close second is increasing allocations to commodities (51%). This corresponds with respondents choosing gold or precious metals as the most resilient type of asset in a volatile trade environment (49%). Crypto (45%) was the second-most popular option, and it is already the most held asset class among UAE investors, currently with 54% Naddaf added, 'With 90% of investors anticipating an impact from tariffs and trade wars, and 89% adjusting their portfolios accordingly, UAE investors show an impressive level of adaptability. Besides local stocks, many are reallocating towards commodities such as gold and oil, which are viewed as reliable hedges against external volatility. This suggests a disciplined, dual-track approach: reinforcing exposure to domestic markets that are shielded from the impact of tariffs, while managing risk through defensive asset classes.' Uncertainty is not deterring investors from continuing to seek opportunities in the market. 65% of UAE retail investors have already increased contributions to their investment portfolios over the previous months, and 76% expect to increase contributions over the next three months.
