"Going To Use Cameras": Chris Martin's Heads Up After Coldplay Kiss Cam Scandal

NDTV21-07-2025
Coldplay's 'Jumbotron Song' segment now comes with a warning. When the British band frontman Chris Martin greeted a sold-out crowd at Madison's Camp Randall Stadium this weekend, he strummed a familiar tune, smiled and said: "We'd like to say hello to some of you in the crowd," he said.
It wasn't like the segment hadn't featured loving couples before, but the one they panned their camera to last week during their Boston show definitely turned into a moment of moments. They had Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and HR head, Kristin Cabot, sharing a candid moment, only for them to look for cover.
"How we're going to do that is we're going to use our cameras and put some of you on the big screen... So, please, if you haven't done your makeup, do your makeup now," he said, perhaps hinting that the camera may go anywhere and feature anyone.

The video went viral, with many reacting with references to the July 16 "Scandal" involving Byron and Cabot.
A user wrote, "He meant to say 'if you haven't let go of your side chick, do it now!' "
Another commented, "Great way to say a lot without saying it."
"What's funny is he gave this exact speech during the concert it happened at too, this isn't something he started doing because of it, but what that also means is that the CEO had PLENTY of time to get ready to not act like he was having an affair before he Streisanded himself," someone said.
Someone wrote, "I loved this part of the concert! Chris and the guys are genius innovators!"
Coldplay's ' Jumbotron Song ', where Chris Martin interacts with fans by putting them on the stadium's big screen mid-show, is a cherished part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour. The singer sings for the people on screen, improvising lyrics on the spot.
At their July 16 show in Foxborough, Massachusetts, when the camera landed on Byron and Cabot, they were caught off guard and attempted to shield their faces. Chris Martin didn't miss a beat. "Whoa, look at these two," he said, mid-song. "Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy."
Following the incident, Byron's wife, Megan, dropped "Byron" from her name on social media before deleting her Facebook account.
Cabot is also married into one of New England's oldest elite families. She is the wife of Andrew Cabot, a descendant of the storied Boston Brahmins and the Privateer Rum dynasty.
By July 18, Astronomer confirmed both Andy Byron and Ms Cabot had been placed on administrative leave.
One day later, Byron resigned as CEO. Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy was named interim CEO.
Coldplay has not released an official statement about the viral incident. The band's Instagram recap of their Madison show made no mention of it.
Concert venues typically warn attendees they may be recorded, especially if the footage is used for music videos or promotional material. Gillette Stadium, where the incident took place, has a privacy policy saying that guests' images, voices, or likenesses may be captured by CCTV or during event filming in public areas.

Kingdom review: Vijay Deverakonda's film aims high, but settles for mediocrity

A film that hinges on brotherhood and a man's/woman's larger purpose in life has to get one aspect right. And, it's not the scale or the music. It's the emotion. You need to connect and resonate with the characters on-screen to feel their pain and joy. However mediocre the story might be, if the emotion connects, the film lands!Director Gowtam Tinnanuri's 'Kingdom' promised to be a story of brotherhood, a spy thriller and a lot more. Has it cracked the magic formula? Let's find out!'Kingdom' begins in the 1920s, with a tribe called Divi fighting against the British. The tribe fails in the fight with the hope that a saviour will arrive to put off their worries. 70 years later, we see Suri (Vijay Deverakonda), a constable searching for his elder brother Siva (Satyadev). Siva fled after killing their abusive father and ran away from home. His attempts to find Siva land him in a covert becomes a spy assigned to infiltrate a gang of smugglers in Sri Lanka, and the head of the gang is his brother Siva. As planned, the brothers reunite, and Suri becomes one of them. That's when trouble begins, for Siva and those around him. Will Siva get to know about Suri's operation? What does the flashback have to do with the two brothers? Will they join hands against a common enemy? All these and more are shown and told in 'Kingdom'.Director Gowtam Tinnanuri's 'Kingdom' has a grand vision as it attempts a story that has so many elements – all of which are separate, successful genres. It's a spy thriller, an emotional drama on brotherhood and a reincarnation drama as well. Cram all these into a two-hour-and-40-minute film and you get 'Kingdom'. Throughout the runtime, you are left with an "Oh, I've seen this somewhere" feeling. Yet, the film manages to keep you engaged throughout the first half. Be it the establishment of who Suri really is and how much he yearns to reunite with his brother, these set up for an emotional reunion. It happens in a rain setup – one of the brilliantly shot scenes in the film. The first half sets up the stakes, even if the scenes are familiar. But it is the second half that drags the film down. While the scale of Gowtam's vision is visible, the execution falters majorly 'Kingdom' makes Suri discover the larger purpose of life while dealing with his strained relationship with Siva. A scene where they fight doesn't evoke any emotion. Another episode which resembles the famous Red Wedding episode from 'Game of Thrones' should shake you. But you hardly feel a thing. 'Kingdom' hardly taps into your emotional psyche, and that's where it stops being a brilliant film. It settles for mediocrity jumps from one arc to another in 'Kingdom' make you travel through the film without ever connecting with the characters. For example, the initial portions involving Vijay Deverakonda and Bhagyashree Borse look strictly professional. Later in a scene, a character talks to her, saying that she has fallen in love with him. Those who followed the single launches would know this fact, and that their romantic track is edited out. These jumps and cuts rob us of the wholesome is nothing wrong with telling a predictable story. But if the story is not complete and often jumps from one emotion to another, then you have no choice but to move with the story, sans any said, 'Kingdom' is a film that's brilliant technically and performance-wise. Vijay Deverakonda does the heavy lifting. Though his expressions tend to get repetitive, he does his best to drag us along with him. The film's core plot lies in the brotherhood. While Deverakonda and Satyadev are perfect as brothers, their relationship looks too shallow. Their arc is so underexplored that you hardly feel happy about their Girish Gangadharan and Jomon T John's frames take us to Sri Lanka, and Anirudh Ravichander's music makes us revel in their world. If only the story also lived up to the expectation, 'Kingdom' would be a wholesome film.- Ends2.5 out of 5 stars for 'Kingdom'.Must Watch

"Futuristic" Changing Room In Goa Store Leaves UK Couple Amazed: "Third World Who?"

A video showing a high-tech changing room at a store in India that a British couple says they've never seen before is going viral online. Liam and Dani Cross, who run the YouTube channel Travel With The Crosses, shared a video on Instagram showing the innovative changing room setup they came across in Goa. In the clip, they claimed that they have not seen such technology even in stores in Dubai, London or New York. "Look how futuristic these changing rooms are," Dani said in the clip as her husband, Liam, walked into the changing room. "This is not in Dubai, this is not in London, this is not in New York. This is India. I'm sorry but India?! Third world who?! This is better than shopping in Wales!! Back where the salesman 'goes to the back' to check if they have your size... when clearly they leave the room, scroll on TikTok for a minute, then come back empty-handed. Gotta give it to India for the shopping experience," the caption of the post read.
