Day of Wilayah is integral part of faith heritage
The Day of Wilayah is of great importance to all Yemenis. On the 18th of Dhu al-Hijjah every year, Yemenis celebrate this occasion as an annual tradition, reflecting a faith heritage they have been reviving for centuries.
Manifestations of joy and rejoicing on this great day are evident in all governorates through the events and activities held, the importance of commemorating this day and reminding people of the concept of wilayah lies in the current situation of the nation and its rulers, who have strayed from the prophetic guidance and lack the qualities of truth, justice, integrity, and morality, and who have allied themselves with the Jews and Christians.
The importance of celebrating this day for Yemenis is highlighted in several aspects, it is an educational milestone for instilling the culture of guardianship in the souls of generations and embodying its meanings in confronting the forces of tyranny, it is also an important occasion for drawing lessons and morals from the life of Imam Ali, emulating his approach and conduct in justice and supporting the oppressed. Furthermore, it serves as a confirmation of the Yemeni people's loyalty to Allah and His Messenger, their close connection to Imam Ali (peace be upon him), and a reminder that reforming the nation's condition and achieving its strength and dignity depends on following the guidance of the Prophet and the approach he outlined for achieving its success in this world and the hereafter, the talk about the Day of Guardianship, 'Eid al-Ghadir,' is established and transmitted in the books of jurisprudence and the Prophet's biography, and it was narrated by scholars without any disagreement.
The talk about it is also established by the hadith scholars and historians, because it combines time, place, and the general public, as the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace, said in Ghadir Khumm, 'O people, I am about to be called and I will answer,' and he raised the hand of Imam Ali and said, 'Whoever I am his master, then this Ali is his master. O God, befriend whoever befriends him, be hostile to whoever is hostile to him, support whoever supports him, abandon whoever abandons him, and make the truth go with him wherever he goes.'
In this regard, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Houri, Vice President of the Science, Research, Technology, and Innovation Authority, confirmed to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that commemorating and celebrating the Day of Guardianship is not just an annual occasion, but rather an integral part of the faith heritage. It is a way of thanking God Almighty for the completion of His blessings and the perfection of His religion. It is also a testimony to His Messenger, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace, for his great historical message of establishing proof and perfecting the religion.
He added that the principle of guardianship in Islam is a great, important, and fundamental principle, as it represents a guarantee for the integrity of the religious path, its vitality and effectiveness, and the preservation of the nation from infiltration.
Dr. Al-Houri believes that the guardianship of the Commander of the Faithful, Ali, peace be upon him, is an extension of the guardianship of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace, he believes that proper allegiance to him, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace, enables Muslims to follow the path of the Noble Prophet.
He pointed out that the reality of those who are far from sincere allegiance to Allah, His Messenger, Imam Ali, and the beacons of guidance from the family of the Prophet is shameful, because their allegiance is tied to the Jews and Christians and to the guardianship of the tyrant, despite their acknowledgement of the divinely ordained guardianship of God Almighty.
Dr. Al-Houri said, "Commemorating the Day of Guardianship is a constant reminder of this great message, so that its resonance may continue and its content may reach the nation across generations, it is a topic that concerns every generation and era, not just the generation contemporary with the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace. Guardianship is the guarantee of the continuity and vitality of religion. It is what connects the nation to the light and guidance of God, protecting it from deviation and misguidance. By adhering to the principle of guardianship, we guarantee for ourselves and our nation that we will walk the straight path, and we will receive God's help, support, and victory. By this principle, we will achieve victory and success in this world and the hereafter."
For his part, Abdullah Al-Nuaimi, a member of the Ansar Allah Political Bureau, affirmed that the Day of Allegiance is a great occasion in which the Islamic nation renews its loyalty to God Almighty, to His Messenger, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace, to Imam Ali, peace be upon him, and to the beacons of guidance from the family of the Prophet.
It is also an important occasion to remind the nation of the message conveyed by the Messenger, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace, and to emphasize that the guardianship of Imam Ali is an extension of the guardianship of the Messenger of Allah.
He pointed out what the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, repeatedly emphasizes: The nation needs to understand the meaning of guardianship according to the Quranic concept and what is stated in the Book of Allah, and to comprehend the principle of guardianship, which protects the nation and safeguards it from the rule of the tyrant.
He added that the principle of guardianship protects the nation from the dominance of America and the tyrants of our time and constitutes a guarantee to save the faithful soul and protect it from being subjected to the tyrant and enslaved.
Al-Nuaimi explained that the Yemenis' commemoration of this solemn occasion is a message they send to all Muslims around the world that true allegiance to God, His Messenger, Imam Ali, and the Prophet's family is the vessel of salvation in this world and the hereafter. In this world, it brings elevation, honor, dignity, and strength, while in the hereafter, there is the reward and noble recompense for following the Sunnah of the Greatest Messenger and acting upon his directives, which were a reflection of divine guidance.
He pointed out that the Yemenis' pride in commemorating this day is to affirm their adherence to the approach of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) and to embody their love and connection to him, especially at a time when Arab and Muslim rulers have been led to pledge their allegiance to the Jews, Christians, and tyrants of the earth.
For his part, cultural activist Samir al-Nimr explained that the sincere allegiance to the nation's leaders, the beacons of guidance, is an extension of the guardianship of Allah, His Messenger, and Imam Ali (peace be upon him).
He pointed out that renewing the pledge of allegiance to Imam Ali (peace be upon him) and the beacons of guidance, as they are the nation's ship of salvation, is an act of obedience to the implementation of God's command, which He conveyed to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) in this regard.
He emphasized that sincere allegiance to Allah, His Messenger, Imam Ali (peace be upon him), and the beacons of guidance from the family of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) is the only way to rescue the nation from its deteriorating situation and transform it from a state of humiliation, degradation, and weakness to one of strength, dignity, and power in confronting its enemies.
Al-Nimr urged people to recall the concept of the principle of guardianship over the nation to protect it from discord and division, and from the allegiance of Jews and Christians, he also urged people to embody the true meaning of the Islamic faith and achieve victory, dignity, and glory for the nation, he also urged people to work to consolidate the principle of guardianship to protect the nation from infiltration and to fortify it against the influence of the nation's enemies who seek to obliterate its faith identity.
