Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the detainees, aged between 21 and 55, were taken in during Ops Gempur Sasar on Wednesday (May 28).
'The raids, which focused on factories, were carried out simultaneously in Johor Baru, Muar, Segamat, Mersing and Batu Pahat.
'A total of 114 foreigners from eight countries were arrested in the raids after inspections were carried out on some 511 people,' he said in a statement on Friday (May 30).
He said the suspects, including 10 women, were from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam and Cambodia.
'We also arrested four local men between 50 and 60 years old who are company owners and managers,' he said.
Rusdi said the foreign nationals are being investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963, while the Malaysians are being investigated under Section 55E of the same Act for allowing undocumented foreigners to enter or stay in their premises.
'We have also issued notices to 10 individuals to report to the Immigration office to assist in the investigation,' he said.

Zara's family lawyers urge charges if evidence is strong
Published on: Thursday, August 14, 2025 Published on: Thu, Aug 14, 2025 Text Size: KOTA KINABALU: Lawyers representing the family of the late Zara Qairina Mahathir have urged the Attorney-General's Chambers to charge those identified in the police investigation for allegedly bullying the teenager, if the evidence can be upheld in court. The legal team – Shahlan Jufri, Rizwandean M Borhan, Mohd Luqman Syazwan Zabidi, Mohd Syarulnizam Mohd Salleh and Farrah Nasser – said that if the evidence allows charges under Section 507D(2) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum 10-year jail term, fine, or both, there would be no need for an inquest. They added that if the evidence is insufficient, police should continue investigations and hold an inquest concurrently, with prosecution to follow once the case is stronger. The lawyers also dismissed an online 'plot twist' suggesting their client caused Zara's death, calling it false and malicious, and thanked the CID Director Datuk M Kumar, Bukit Aman, and the Special Task Force for their swift action. They expressed appreciation to Malaysians for their prayers and support, and urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified claims and to share any information with the police or approach them directly. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? Charge those involved in bullying Zara Qairina, say lawyers
KOTA KINABALU: Lawyers representing Zara Qairina Mahathir's family have proposed to the Attorney-General's Chambers (A-GC) to charge those involved in bullying the girl before her death. Referring to details revealed by federal police Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar, they said several key disclosures were made related to the death of the 13-year-old. Among the findings were statements pointing towards bullying before the incident that befell Zara. "If those statements can be trusted in court, we propose that the Attorney-General's Chambers prosecute the individual or individuals named in those statements who committed the bullying under Section 507D(2) of the Penal Code (criminalising threatening, insulting, or defamatory words and acts that provoke harm). "Under this section, offenders may be punished with imprisonment of up to 10 years, or a fine, or both. "If this step is taken, an inquest will no longer be necessary," said a joint statement issued by Shahlan Jufri, Rizwandean M. Borhan, Mohd Luqman Syazwan Zabidi, Mohd Syarulnizam Mohd Salleh and Farrah Nasser. The lawyers, however, said that should those statements not be strong or sufficient enough to constitute an offence under Section 507D(2) of the Penal Code, further investigations must continue to strengthen such evidence. "In this situation, the inquest should be conducted concurrently with the further investigations. Prosecution can then follow." The team urged people with information to come forward and assist investigations. "Channel your information to the police. If you are afraid or need assistance to do so, you may meet with us. "We thank Datuk M. Kumar and the Bukit Aman special task force for acting swiftly to investigate Zara's death. "Finally, we thank and appreciate all Malaysians who have supported and prayed for justice for Zara. "At the same time, please refrain from making false speculations regarding Zara's death." Zara, a 13-year-old student of SMKA Tun Mustapha in Papar, was found unconscious on July 16 at her school and pronounced dead the following day at Queen Elizabeth Hospital here.

Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said those detained ranged in age from nine months to 56 years. 'In this operation, a total of 78 illegal immigrants and one local man were detained. Their ages ranged from nine months to 56 years. The gender breakdown is 59 adult men, 15 adult women, one boy, and three girls. In terms of nationality, 62 were Indonesians and 16 were Bangladeshis. 'In this operation, 67 illegal immigrants were found to have committed offences under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63. 'The local man tested positive for drugs under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,' he said in a statement today. The operation targeted areas identified as hotspots for illegal immigrants, including industrial zones, construction sites, and squatter settlements. Alexson said the coordinated effort aimed to detect, detain, and take legal action against illegal immigrants, as well as to strengthen security and ensure socio-economic sustainability for Malaysians. 'This integrated operation was conducted following several cases of house break-ins and robberies in areas surrounding illegal immigrant settlements, where they were suspected of being involved in these incidents,' he added. Alexson urged the public to continue providing information on illegal immigrant activities in their areas to help authorities address these issues effectively. illegal immigrants immigration Kuching Op Sekat
