61st Baeksang Awards 2025 Full Winners List: When Life Gives You Tangerines Wins Big
61st Baeksang Arts Awards: While IU and Park Bo Gum missed out on acting wins, When Life Gives You Tangerines led the Baeksang Awards 2025 with top honours including Best Drama.
The 61st Baeksang Arts Awards, South Korea's most prestigious ceremony honouring excellence across television, film, and theatre, unfolded on April 5, 2025, bringing with it a mix of surprises and expected wins. While some of the biggest fan-favourite titles of the year walked away with major awards, not all frontrunners clinched individual acting honours.
The widely loved Netflix K-drama When Life Gives You Tangerines emerged as the night's biggest winner, taking home the award for Best Drama. Loosely based on a real-life couple from Jeju Island, the series stars Park Bo Gum and IU and tells the story of lifelong companions Oh Ae Sun and Gwan Sik. Spanning decades of their life together, the emotionally rich slice-of-life drama follows their journey through family struggles, personal sacrifices, and unconditional love. Despite its massive popularity and eight nominations, both IU and Park Bo Gum lost out in their respective acting categories.
Still, When Life Gives You Tangerines secured major wins including Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor (Choi Dae Hoon), and Best Supporting Actress (Yeom Hye Ran). The show beat stiff competition from Lovely Runner, The Tale of Lady Ok, Doubt, and The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call.
Meanwhile, Lovely Runner, another buzz-worthy series, didn't score wins in the major categories but its cast emerged victorious in the popularity segment.
In the film section, Harbin, led by Hyun Bin, won the coveted Best Film award. The historical action drama edged out titles like Love In The Big City, Revolver, House of the Seasons, and Uprising. Director Oh Seungwook won Best Director for Revolver, while the same film also delivered Jeon Doyeon a win in the Best Actress category for her performance.
Actor Cho Jungseok earned the Best Actor award for his turn in the aviation-themed film Pilot, besting fellow nominees like Yoon Joosang, Lee Byunghun, Lee Heejoon, and Hyun Bin.
