Jaipur: Shivay Singh of Uttar Pradesh edged past Maharashtra's Sudip Patil to clinch the crown as the three-day Royal Jaipur Under-1800 Classical Fide Rating Chess tournament concluded here on Sunday.
An eight-year-old Prayagraj boy Shivay and Sudip both ended up with eight points each to their credit but on the basis of better tie-break scores, the former was declared champion. Shivay drew his final two rounds to remain unbeaten in the nine-round competition.
Rajasthan's Kavyansh Jain bagged the bronze medal, while Madhav Bharadia finished fifth. Aritrya Pal of West Bengal placed fourth.

After the end of the fifth round, Shivaay is sharing the lead with Prathamesh Dharmadhikari of Maharashtra, Arnav Goyal of Haryana and Sushant Singh of Delhi. All four players have five points each. Arpit Saxena from Rajasthan, Aarav Porwal from Madhya Pradesh, Aritrya Pal from Bengal, Rohit Rajkumar from Gujarat, Agam Surana and Kavyansh Jain from Rajasthan, Aarav Agarwal and Garvit Jain of Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Saboo of Gujarat and Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay of Madhya Pradesh are tied for second place with 4.5 points each. Australia's Jack Della Maddalena dominated defending champion Belal Muhammad to clinch the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight title at the Bell Centre in Montreal on Sunday (IST). Della Maddalena became UFC's 13th undisputed welterweight champion via unanimous decision. Della Maddalena got the better of his counterpart in the initial two rounds, opting for a mixture of jabs and leg kicks. A knee even left the reigning champion with a bloodied nose. The Australian continued to dominate the bout despite takedown attempts from Belal and passed the test of endurance with flying colours. In the co-main event, Valentina Shevchenko defeated Manon Fiorot via unanimous decision to retain the flyweight belt. All three judges scored it 48-47 for Shevchenko.
