Chris Brown Arrested In United Kingdom For Alleged 2023 Assault With Alcohol Bottle
Breezy was in the UK for his current tour and was taken into custody at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester. 'A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May on suspicion of grievous bodily harm,' a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said. 'He has been taken into custody where he remains. The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.'
Allegedly, Brown assaulted producer Abe Diaw with a bottle of alcohol at Tape nightclub, per TMZ. Diaw, per his lawsuit, claims that the 'Forever' singer also stomped on his head while he was on the ground, rendering him unconscious. He also claims that the two-time Grammy winner spread 'false rumors' about him after the alleged incident.
Reportedly, authorities attempted to correspond with Chris Brown around the time of the alleged 2023 assault, but he left the country before he could be questioned. The status of the lawsuit and Brown's upcoming shows are both unclear, and neither he nor his team has commented on the arrest.
Chris Brown had just been cleared to travel and perform in the United Kingdom a few years ago, serving a 10-year ban following his assault of Rihanna. Priti Patel, former Home Secretary, lifted the ban in 2020 without explaining. He made his grand return to the UK at the performance with WizKid in 2021 and has consistently toured throughout the country since.

BBC calls in police to investigate new Strictly allegations
The BBC has asked the police to investigate Strictly Come Dancing amid fresh allegations, according to reports, after claims two of its stars used cocaine. The Sun On Sunday reported that the corporation has alerted the Metropolitan Police to new allegations about the hit dance competition show, the details of which it does not specify. A BBC spokesperson said on Saturday the corporation does not comment on police investigations. It comes after reports in The Sun earlier this month alleged two Strictly cast members' drug use was discussed on the BBC dancing show, and said that the corporation had appointed law firm Pinsent Masons to lead the investigation. The scandal-hit show was also the subject of a review in 2024, when the BBC looked into allegations of bullying and harassment against former professional dancer Giovanni Pernice, made by his former dance partner Amanda Abbington. The corporation upheld some, but not all, of the complaints made – and introduced a series of new measures aimed at improving welfare. This included the introduction of a chaperone who is present 'at all times' during training room rehearsals. EastEnders star James Borthwick was also suspended from the BBC after a video emerged of the actor using a disabled slur on the set of the dance programme. The cocaine use allegations were reportedly made in a legal submission by law firm Russells in March on behalf of former contestant Wynne Evans, who was dropped by the BBC after apologising for using 'inappropriate language' during the launch of the Strictly tour. It is understood that the BBC often appoints external law firms to help it lead investigations. The BBC spokesperson previously said: 'We have clear protocols and policies in place for dealing with any serious complaint raised with us. 'We would always encourage people to speak to us if they have concerns. It would not be appropriate for us to comment further.' The Metropolitan Police has been contacted for comment.

Murder investigation after woman in 20s fatally assaulted
Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman was fatally assaulted in the early hours of the morning. The Metropolitan Police said officers were called Chadwell Heath, east London, just after 5.30am on Saturday after reports of an assault. Paramedics also attended but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene in Chadwell Heath Lane, the force said. The woman has not yet been formally identified, police said, but officers believe she was in her twenties. Her family have been informed and are being supported by family liaison officers, the force added. No-one has yet been arrested in connection with the incident. Police have launched a murder investigation after the death of a woman in east London. The Metropolitan Police said officers were called to Chadwell Heath, near Romford, shortly after 5.30am on Saturday morning following reports of an assault.
