Sydney also has the backing of Jeff Bezos, boss of Amazon — which has creative control of the series.
A movie source said: 'Sydney is the top name on the casting sheet for Bond.
'Denis believes she is hugely talented, as well as having an alluring appeal to younger generations, vital in modernising the franchise.
'They've hung out together a lot and he has admired her stratospheric rise.

She recently transformed her figure to play US boxer Christy Martin in a new biopic, lifting weights daily and kickboxing.
Sydney was pictured last year chatting to Villeneuve, 57, and Bond girl Ana de Armas, 37, at the Toronto Film Festival.
And last month she was a guest at Bezos's Venice wedding.

Wimbledon fans boo as Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz final halted for bizarre reason

Wimbledon fans boo as Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz final halted for bizarre reason Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are contesting the Wimbledon final on Sunday afternoon and the match was brought to a brief halt by a bizarre incident in the second set The Wimbledon final faced an unwelcome interruption (Image: Getty ) In a slightly bizarre Wimbledon final interruption, Jannik Sinner had to stop mid-service during the second set to remove a champagne cork that unexpectedly landed on Centre Court, prompting boos from the audience. The Italian was poised to serve at a lead of 3-1 in the second set when he was interrupted by the sound of champagne being uncorked, causing the cork to fly onto the court. ‌ Upon spotting the cork, Sinner handed it to a ball girl while a chorus of boos filled the air and the match official reminded spectators to show consideration for the players. ‌ The umpire addressed the crowd saying, "Ladies and Gentlemen, out of respect to our players, please do not pop the Champagne cork just as a player is about to serve." Champagne-related disturbances are not new to this year's tournament; previously, there was an incident on an outer court where a serving player was distracted by the sound of fizz, and a similar occurrence happened during a match featuring British sensation Emma Raducanu—fortunately, she was seated during a break. Jannik Sinner had to stop his service routine to remove a champagne cork Article continues below Emmerdale star forced to quit gruelling Channel 4 series before filming even begins READ MORE: Drinking champagne at Wimbledon is an expensive affair, with prices topping £100 per bottle. Among those in the audience today were the likes of Nicole Kidman, Keira Knightley, Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott. As for Sinner, he'll be looking forward to possibly partaking in some celebratory bubbles himself should he secure his victory against Carlos Alcaraz, whom he seeks to avenge after a dramatic turnaround by Alcaraz at the French Open final, reports the Mirror. ‌ Alcaraz secured his fifth straight victory over Sinner, enhancing his formidable Wimbledon track record as he aims for a third consecutive title at the All England Club. The two athletes have been at the forefront of recent Grand Slams, dividing the last seven titles between them. The Royal family were in attendance (Image: Karwai Tang, WireImagevia Getty Images ) ‌ In anticipation of another rigorous contest on Sunday, Alcaraz shared: "I've just seen a few clips and a few points but not that much. I am still thinking about that moment sometimes. "It was the best match I have ever played so far. I'm not surprised he pushed me to the limit. I expect that on Sunday." With the tennis community abuzz with the prospect of another thrilling face-off, Sinner acknowledged the high bar set by their previous encounter in Paris. Article continues below "We saw the last final - you never know [what will happen]," he remarked. "Hopefully it's going to be a good match like the last one, I don't know if it can be better because I don't think it's possible. But we will do our best."

I exclusively revealed two years ago how Johannes' life story, based on his autobiography, Jojo: Finally Home, was under way. This week, he said: 'It's a 'pinch me' moment. "The beginning stages are happening now and BBC Films have just jumped on board too. 'It simply means that my people, who helped me get where I am, are worthy and they can dream because I know where they come from. "There are a lack of role models and they feel like they can't achieve anything but I hope this is like a beacon of light for them to say all of you contributed to me and my success is your success.' Johannes joined Strictly in 2018. In 2021 he reached the final with chef John Whaite, where they lost out to ex-EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice. Strictly's Johannes Radebe heartbroken as family are BANNED from entering country and miss his big opening night of show NEW TAKE ON PUB BOMBING THE team behind BBC's Line Of Duty are planning a drama about the 1974 Birmingham pub bombings. Simon Heath, who heads up World Productions, believes it's time viewers learnt more about the 21 victims of the IRA attack. 5 Six men from Northern Ireland served 16 years in prison after being wrongly convicted for the bombing in 1975. They became known as the Birmingham Six. The new drama will focus on the lives of the victims and their loved ones who have campaigned for justice. Brummie Simon said: 'Everyone knows about the Birmingham Six, but the families of the 21 victims still don't know who planted the bombs. 'They don't get the publicity they deserve. But there's a script and we're going to try. 'I just want to support the city. 'I don't think it has had a fair crack of the whip.' LARRY LAMB says his turn as Mick Shipman in Gavin & Stacey: The Finale will likely be his last on the box. The actor said he would consider taking on small stage parts 'to keep my face in' but insisted that he's happy to let others perform the 'bigger roles' and head into retirement. NATURE'S CALLING DOUGIE SHARK! Celebrity Infested Waters ended up being far more than just another TV job for Dougie Poynter. The ITV series, which starts tonight at 9pm, follows celebs as they take to treacherous waters off Bimini in the Bahamas. Facing the beasts has changed the McFly and I'm A Celeb winner forever. He said: 'I came back and it hit me so hard that I'm not still out there doing it. I think I want to do nature stuff for the rest of my life, in any sort of capacity. 'Any trip I do or TV show, I hope it has a nature element in it, because that's what I'm happy doing. 'I feel connected to what we actually are, just creatures of Earth, without sounding cheesy. 'I'm sharing the planet with all these other things that are way more fascinating than myself.' CILLIAN'S DREAM CILLIAN MURPHY swapped the brutality of Peaky Blinders for a children's animation, so his kids have the chance to enjoy his work. The actor, best known as Tommy Shelby in the gritty saga, lends his voice to play Dad in Kensuke's Kingdom. Cillian said: 'I had read Kensuke's Kingdom to my boys when they were little and they were enthralled by it. 'I wanted to be involved in the film version so they could see it, and also because I don't really make that many films for kids.' An adaptation of Michael Morpugo's book, follows a young boy who is shipwrecked on a remote island after falling overboard during a family sailing trip. He discovers he's not alone when he encounters Kensuke, a former Japanese soldier who has lived there since World War Two. It lands on the BBC next month. LONG-RUNNING Aussie soap Neighbours filmed its last ever scenes on Friday after being scrapped for a second time. Amazon Freevee picked up the teatime favourite from Channel 5 but weren't happy with its ratings. The closing chapter will air in December.

In a sweet moment, Charlotte joined brother George in applauding 11-year-old cancer patient Ambrose Caldecott as he walked on court to perform the coin toss. On Sunday, Kate met with the young lad from south London and praised him for his bravery. She told him: "What a brave boy you've been. Good luck today, we'll be cheering you one." Charlotte - wearing Barbie-pink nails - could also be seen chatting with mum Kate as they both pointed to the court after a ferocious backhand winner from Alcaraz. Tennis-mad Charlotte also appeared at the final last year alongside Kate, which was one of the royal's first public engagements following her cancer diagnosis. Prior to the match today, the family were introduced to a special greeting party near the players' lounge. Kate wore a sleek blue dress with a necklace while William donned a smart double-breasted navy suit, complete with matching tie and pocket square. Prince George was also kitted out in a smart suit and tie for the grand occasion, while Charlotte wore a cute frilly outfit. The family first talked with men's doubles winners Julian Cash and Lewis Glasspool, who became the first all-Brit pair to take the top prize in 89 years on Saturday. Cash, who banked £680,000 with Glasspool for his historic win, was congratulated by both royals. Princess Kate appeared to tell them they had done well to battle the 29C heat as well as their opponents. She said: "Well done... how does it feel? It was so hot." Cash replied: "It was good, but pretty stressful." The royal then introduced the players to George and Charlotte, who were standing by her side. In a hilarious moment, Cash, 28, asked the young prince if he was "any good" at tennis, to which George replied: "I'm alright." As the family then walked towards Centre Court, Charlotte waved to countless fans who poured into the All England Club for the much-anticipated final. The royals were joined by actors John Lithgow and Matthew Mcconaughey in the Royal Box. While Mayor of London Sadiq Khan appeared suited and booted next to his wife Saadiya.
