Riverwood Plantation businesses prepare for busiest two weeks of the year
Riverwood Plantation is just a few minutes from Champions Retreat Golf Club.
Business owners say excitement is building for one of their busiest weeks of the year.
Brinley Walden is an employee at Ironwood Tavern.
'We're pretty excited, getting geared up. We have a crazy week—I think I have 54 hours scheduled, but we'll probably end up at a little bit more. There's a lot of prep to do, but we're excited,' said Walden.
Customers start walking through the doors at 11 AM at Ironwood Tavern.
Walden says they're looking at more foot traffic with Masters-themed specials for the entire month of April starting this week.
'We have a pizza that's called 'The Birdie on the Green'—a little play on the golf. We've got a chicken salad sandwich we're running for the specials, and we have a new peach ice cream waffle dessert. So it's kind of Georgia, Masters–themed specials,' Walden said.
At Woody's Spirits, manager Joshua Willis is stocking up on the top liquor brands that he only sells this time of year.
'Definitely the big name brands. Woodford, Bakers, trying to build up on those. All your high-end wines, Caymus, Prisoner, all these other things that we really sell during the Masters week. Not so much during the rest of the year—a few bottles here and there—but we're getting cases and preorders,' said Willis.
Of course, you can't forget your coffee.
Rooted Coffeehouse is hiring more staff to have all hands-on deck. They say it's the time of year they truly shine as a local business.
'We do a lot more specials, especially to the themes of the Masters. We're going to have a lot of specialty drinks, specialty foods. We're going to have lunch boxes to go for the Masters. It's just the personality of your local baristas versus the chain baristas,' said Carmella Schreffler.
The first practice round for the Augusta National Women's Amateur starts tomorrow, with the tournament officially kicking off this Wednesday.
Business owners say while they're excited for ANWA traffic this week, they anticipate a lot more next week for the Masters.

Was the owner of Trump Burger deported? What we know about the Texas chain
The owner of a Texas restaurant group that celebrates President Donald Trump is facing immigration enforcement. Trump Burger's locations boast Trump-themed menu items, campaign decorations and burger buns stamped with "TRUMP." The first location opened in 2020, founded by Roland Beainy, who moved to the U.S. from Lebanon the year before, according to Fox Business. It went viral earlier this year when its social media profiles were spammed with "chicken taco" comments, a nod to the "Trump Always Chickens Out" acronym created to describe his approach to tariffs. Beainy and some of his restaurants are involved in lawsuits, according to local outlet The Fayette County Record. Court records for a lawsuit between the Trump Burger Kemah location and its landlord indicate Beainy was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement earlier this year. Here is what we know: More: Did Obama deport more people than Trump? What to know as Trump calls for more ICE arrests Did the owner of Trump Burger get deported? ICE confirmed with USA TODAY that Beainy, 28, entered the country in 2019 as a non-immigrant visitor but stayed past his required departure date in February 2024. He was arrested May 16, 2025, and on June 13, an immigration judge approved his release on bond while he undergoes his proceedings. Beainy declined to comment on this story. Trump has long made immigration crackdowns a central part of his rhetoric. His administration has set out to deport 1 million people annually, far surpassing previous highs, especially considering encounters at the southern border have been at a historic low and deportation increases are coming from the interior. Still, the administration has pursued a number of controversial and legally contentious actions to achieve its goal. An ICE spokesperson said the agency is committed to holding those who are violating immigration laws accountable, regardless of their business or political beliefs. Trump Burger: photos, review and locations Trump Burger has four locations in Texas, according to its website: Bay City, Bellville, Flatonia and Houston. Local media outlets have visited the Trump Burger locations to provide insight into the menu and atmosphere. "Every Trump Burger location tries to outdo itself in nationalist and personality cult aesthetics," Brittany Britto Garley wrote in Eater Houston, adding there were better burgers to be had in Houston. Bao Ong at the Houston Chronicle wrote, "most dishes are unremarkable and far from making the Chronicle's best burgers guide." Both outlets reported that the restaurant chain has no official connection to the president. Kinsey Crowley is the Trump Connect reporter for the USA TODAY Network. Donald Trump-owned courses will host PGA Tour, LIV Golf tournaments next year
Donald Trump will be hosting events on the PGA Tour and LIV Golf for the first time in the same season in 2026. LIV Golf will return to Trump National Golf Club Washington D.C., in Sterling, Virginia, next year. The PGA Tour is expected to host an event at Trump National Doral, outside of Miami. LIV will return to Virginia for the second time with the 2026 event scheduled for May 8-10. The Saudi Arabia-backed tour has had at least one event on a course owned by the president every year since its inception in 2022. The Tour is expected to return to Doral in 2026, according to Sports Business Journal. The publication reported the event is expected to be April 27-May 3, three weeks after the Masters and two weeks before the PGA Championship. The tournament potentially will be a signature event with a $20 million purse. LIV is pulling out of Doral for 2026, the first time it will not hold a tournament at the course. The PGA Tour had a 54-year history at Doral before pulling out following the 2016 World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship and after losing its title sponsor. The move also came following then-presidential candidate Trump's discriminatory statements about Mexicans and Muslims, giving the Tour even more reason to separate itself from Trump.
