The visit provided them with an in-depth look at the integrated security and technical efforts dedicated to managing the Hajj season.
They were received by Director General of Public Security and Chairman of the Hajj Security Committee Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Bassami.
During their visit, the delegations were briefed on the coordination mechanisms that operate under a unified operational umbrella, bringing together various security and technical agencies.
This robust system is supported by the latest monitoring, analysis, and live surveillance technologies, all of which significantly enhance the national system's readiness to serve pilgrims.
The media representatives also learned about the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies in supporting efficient crowd management and the proactive dispatch of pilgrims.

Iran blames GPS disruptions on security concerns, possible drone presence

Iran's communications minister said on Wednesday that disruptions to GPS signals and frequency spectrums across the country are linked to security concerns, including the possible presence of drones. Minister of Information and Communications Technology Sattar Hashemi said the disturbances have affected the quality of telecommunications and other related services. 'The disruptions observed in frequency spectrums and GPS signals are due to security considerations and the potential presence of drones,' Hashemi told reporters. He acknowledged that the outages have impacted both communications and businesses dependent on these services. 'It is natural that such issues create problems in providing services to the public,' he said. According to Hashemi, consultations and efforts are underway to address the problems gradually, with the aim of improving service quality for citizens. The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions, with both Iran and Israel trading warnings of renewed confrontation following their 12-day war earlier this summer.

AICTEC sets up SAR 5.6M JV with China's ZKTeco

Advance International Company for Communication and Information Technology (AICTEC) said it established a joint venture (JV) with China-based ZKTeco under the name Noor Technology Co. The new entity has been registered with a unified commercial registration number (7051187396) and a capital of SAR 5.63 million, the company said in a statement to Tadawul. The venture follows a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed earlier this year between the two firms. Noor Technology will set up a specialized factory to produce security inspection gates, vehicle and pedestrian access control systems, and other modern technology solutions for Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East. AICTEC expects the project to support Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goals by boosting localization of security and technology industries, increasing local content, creating jobs, and strengthening the Kingdom's technological and manufacturing base. ZKTeco is a global provider of biometric solutions and AI-powered spatial intelligence technologies, specializing in biometric authentication and smart access management. In May, AICTEC signed an MoU with ZKTeco to establish the plant in Saudi Arabia. ZKTeco will hold a 60% stake in the venture, with AICTEC owning the remaining 40%, according to Argaam data.

Chinese PC Maker Lenovo to Set Up Regional Headquarters in Saudi Arabia

China's Lenovo Group announced plans on Tuesday to set up a regional headquarters (RHQ) in Saudi Arabia, aiming to strengthen its presence in the Middle East. 'Set to be located in the iconic Al Majdoul Tower, the RHQ highlights Lenovo's long-term commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and advancing the Kingdom's digital transformation and economic diversification agenda,' the Chinese PC maker said in a statement. 'This announcement forms part of Lenovo's strategic collaboration with ALAT, a Public Investment Fund (PIF)-owned company, aimed at accelerating Lenovo's ongoing transformation and further expanding its global manufacturing footprint,' it added. It has appointed a Lenovo veteran Lawrence Yu as the head of the new headquarters in Saudi Arabia, the statement said. It also appointed Giovanni Di Filippo as general manager of Lenovo Saudi Arabia and Zoran Radumilo as the company's technology chief. 'The confirmation of Al Majdoul Tower as the future location of Lenovo's Regional Headquarters, alongside the appointment of our new executive leadership team for Saudi Arabia and RHQ, marks a major milestone in our regional strategy,' said Matt Dobrodziej, Senior Vice President & President, Lenovo EMEA. 'Through our strategic partnership with ALAT and investment in advanced manufacturing, we are proud to contribute to the Kingdom's Vision 2030 by supporting industrial diversification, accelerating digital transformation, and enabling sustainable economic growth,' he said. 'Our initiatives in Saudi Arabia, including the RHQ, flagship retail space, and the Riyadh-based manufacturing facility are projected to contribute up to USD 10 billion to non-oil GDP by 2030, reinforcing our commitment to the Kingdom's long-term development,' Dobrodziej added. Lenovo's CEO Yang Yuanqing said last week that the company saw strong AI demand in its three major business segments, with China's demand in AI infrastructure outpacing the rest of the world.
