Who advanced (and who didn't) out of final qualifying for the 2025 British Open
The British Open also has a day of final qualifiers. Ahead of the 2025 Open Championship at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland, the R&A staged four qualifiers, each advancing the top five to the championship.
Burnham & Berrow, Royal Cinque Ports and West Lancashire in England as well as Dundonald Links in Scotland were the host venues. The R&A reported that 288 golfers were spread across the four courses.
Who advanced out of final qualifying for the 2025 Open Championship?
Lee Westwood won this qualifier at 7 under (70-67) to earn his first British Open spot since 2022. In fact, that was the last PGA Tour major he's played in. In that time, he's only played two seniors majors.
Conner Graham (a) and Paul O'Hara tied for fifth at 4 under and faced off in a sudden-death, 2-for-1 playoff for the final spot with the amateur Graham coming out on top.
Among the notables who did not advance: Adrian Meronk and Callum Tarren (who both withdrew).
Another LIV golfer won this qualifier, with Lucas Herbert finishing 8 under (69-67), a shot better than the field.
This qualifier also had a playoff, a 4-for-2 between Richard Teder (a), Oliver Lindell, Ronan Mullarney and Sam Bairstow. Teder and Lindell were the lucky golfers to advance from that playoff.
Among the notables who did not advance: Tommy Morrison (a), Harold Varner III, Andy Ogletree, Harrison Crowe, Alex Fitzpatrick and Sam Horsfield.
South Africa's Justin Walters finished in first at 9 under. PGA Tour winner Harry Hall was tied for second, a shot back.
Among the notables who did not advance: Anirban Lahiri, Caleb Surrat.
A third LIV golfer, Dean Murmester, won this qualifier. He did so by four shots at 10 under (70-64), shooting a second 18 holes that was six shots better than his first. All three LIV golfers who advanced did so after winning their qualifier.
Among the notables who did not advance: David Puig (who opened with a 64 but then shot 78), Erik van Rooyen, Ian Poulter, Luke Poulter (a), Graeme McDowell, Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen.
Four amateurs advanced to 2025 British Open
There was one amateurfrom each of the four qualifiers who advanced:
They are Sebastian Cave, Frazer Jones, Connor Graham and Richard Teder, who became the first golfer from Estonia to make it to the British Open.

Those results are historic, but he'll only be crowned as this season's champion if he can win this week's Tour Championship. In previous formats, Scheffler would start the Tour Championship at 10-under par, but the powers that be have decided to do away with starting strokes and put all 30 players on even par for the 2025 iteration. Not only does that level the playing field, but it also makes this tournament a lot more fun for bettors, who, like casual fans, were pretty tired of the old format. 3 Scottie Scheffler after winning the BMW Championship. Like Lowry, this is a buy-low opportunity on a player with the talent to disrupt this field. It may be a surprise that Im even qualified for this event, but his T17 at the St. Jude two weeks ago was enough to vault him into East Lake in what has otherwise been a down year. The South Korean has missed four cuts and posted just two top-30 finishes in his last 10 starts, but he has popped at different times this year. He came out of the gates strong with two top-five results in his first three starts, and he was T5 at Augusta in April. Im also has some strong history at East Lake with a runner-up in 2022 and a sixth-place finish last year. Yelp revealed its rankings of the Top 50 Stadiums for Game-Day Eats exclusively with "Good Morning America" on Wednesday to share with sports fans which venues are elevating menus from classic ballpark snacks to creative local chef-driven dishes alike. Yelp's Top 50 Stadium Eats of 2025 The Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, known for its beloved Gilroy Garlic french fries, provided fans with everything from fresh sourdough sandwiches to Ghiradelli chocolate, and a plethora of other local eats and treats. Baseball knocked it out of the park, clinching eight of the top ten spots from Maryland to California. The Pittsburgh Pirates and PNC Park ranked No. 2. with all-new fare like crispy Polish Cannonballs. Oriole Park at Camden Yards snagged the No. 3 spot, feeding Baltimore Orioles' fans the iconic foot-long Chesapeake-spiced hot dog topped with crab dip.
