As the Mets were taking on the Padres in a getaway game at Petco Park, reports broke that New York had dealt José Buttó, Blade Tidwell and Drew Gilbert to the Giants in exchange for reliever Tyler Rogers.
Buttó — who had spent his entire professional career with the Mets organization — was in the bullpen as the news went public. The SNY broadcast captured his reaction, and the pitcher was visibly emotional to be leaving the Mets.
That had to be tough news for Buttó — even if Mets players expected deadline moves to hold off the Phillies in the NL East.
To make matters even more awkward for Buttó, the Mets will head home to open their series Friday against the Giants. He won't have to wait long at all to face his former team at Citi Field.

Brewers rookie Jacob Misiorowski placed on IL with tibia contusion
Milwaukee Brewers rookie Jacob Misiorowski has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a left tibia contusion. The team announced Sunday that Misiorowski's designation was retroactive to July 31, a few days after the All-Star right-hander took a line shot to the shin in the first inning against the Chicago Cubs. Misiorowski (4-1, 2.70 ERA) struggled a bit to close the inning, but settled down and retired 10 consecutive batters while throwing 40 pitches over the next three. Misiorowski told reporters before his scheduled start Sunday against the Washington Nationals that he anticipates missing about two starts and being ready to go after the 15 days.
