Mercedes-Benz adds Teams call feature in cars, No thanks, says Internet

Mercedes-Benz has pushed the limits of in-car productivity by allowing drivers to take video calls on the go, but not everyone is thrilled, especially on X.Mercedes-Benz has partnered with Microsoft to integrate the enhanced Meetings for Teams app into its vehicles. With this update, drivers can attend work meetings using the car's built-in camera even while driving. The company said in its press release that this update 'allows other participants to see them during a meeting,' thanks to the in-car camera.advertisement
But before you panic, there's a limit: the app will automatically switch off the meeting video stream the moment the camera is activated, which would ensure drivers aren't distracted by shared screens or slides. The feature will only function within safety laws in respective countries, the company said. The step, intended to enhance productivity, has now triggered a meme fest online.Calling it a 'new standard for in-car productivity,' Mercedes said the feature will roll out this summer with its MB.OS-powered fourth-generation MBUX in the all-new CLA. The company will also be the first to natively integrate Microsoft Intune, a device and app management tool, and plans to bring Microsoft 365 Copilot into its vehicles in the future. But while Mercedes sees a future of mobile workstations, several users on X couldn't help but poke fun at the idea.'Why would I want Microsoft Teams in my Mercedes? That's what texting is for,' a user posted.Another user quipped, 'Can't wait for Microsoft Teams integration in Mercedes cars. I don't use Teams at work. And I don't own a Merc either.'One of the users even shared a meme of a baby running away with the caption, 'Was about to buy a Mercedes until you said Microsoft Teams.'Was about to buy a Mercedes until you said Microsoft Teams. pic.twitter.com/YRCwdO6eBb— HODLcentral (@HODLCentral) July 25, 2025Then came the food analogy. 'Let's just combine Microsoft Teams with a Mercedes-Benz,' a user wrote, alongside an image of a pizza topped with chicken on one side and chocolate gems on the other. While Mercedes-Benz is confident about transforming the car into a smart office, the internet made it clear that just because you can work from your car, it doesn't mean you should.- EndsMust Watch

Microsoft heads into Q4 earnings announcement with one big Risk Question: Is the company's AI ...

Microsoft investors who will be attending the company's upcoming fourth quarter earnings call may have one 'big question' for the tech giant. They are expected to ask the company: Is the company's AI 'upper hand' at risk as its partner OpenAI plans to go public while reportedly discussing partnership opportunities with rivals like Google, Oracle and CoreWeave for cloud services? Due to its exclusive licensing deals and access to OpenAI's models, Microsoft has been a significant beneficiary of the generative AI boom. This partnership has reportedly fueled growth in Microsoft's Azure cloud business and pushed its market value toward $4 trillion. According to data shared by Visible Alpha (seen by the news agency Reuters), the tie-up is expected to have driven a 34.8% increase in Microsoft's cloud service Azure's revenue for the April-June quarter, which exceeds the 33% rise in the last quarter. However, the partnership deal is currently being renegotiated as OpenAI aims for a public listing. As per recent reports, a potential deadlock over the extent of Microsoft's access to the technology of the ChatGPT maker and its stake is expected in the coming days, if OpenAI convert into a public-benefit company. This conversion requires Microsoft's approval and is crucial for a $40 billion funding round led by SoftBank Group, with $20 billion contingent on the restructuring being finalised by the end of 2025. Meanwhile, OpenAI has recently deepened its Oracle ties with a planned 4.5 gigawatts of data centre capacity and added Google Cloud as a supplier for computing capacity. Why investors may still have confidence in the Microsoft OpenAI deal According to a report by Reuters, UBS analysts have noted that investor opinions on the Microsoft–OpenAI deal are mixed. However, Microsoft maintains a stronger position in the partnership. 'Microsoft's leadership earned enough credibility … such that the company will end up negotiating terms that will be in the interest of its shareholders,' the analysts said to Reuters. Some of that confidence among investors appears to be reflected in Microsoft's stock performance, which has gained over 20% so far this year. During the April–June period (fourth quarter of Microsoft's fiscal year), the company may have seen positive effects from a weaker dollar, steady demand for non-AI Azure services, and early Windows orders by PC makers anticipating potential US tariffs, Reuters noted. Meanwhile, revenue is projected to have grown by 14% to $73.81 billion, marking its most significant increase in three quarters, according to LSEG data seen by Reuters. The company's profit is also expected to have risen 14.2% to $25.16 billion, though this represents a slightly slower pace than the prior quarter due to higher operating expenses. Apart from this, capital spending is also likely to draw attention in the earnings call after Alphabet recently announced $10 billion increase in its annual budget. Microsoft has indicated it is still facing capacity limits in AI and suggested further capital expenditure growth after spending over $80 billion last fiscal year. However, the pace may be slower and focused on shorter-term assets like AI chips. According to Dan Morgan of Synovus Trust, who holds Microsoft stock, the investment appears to be yielding results. 'Investors may still be underestimating the potential for Microsoft's AI business to drive durable consumption growth in the agentic AI era,' Morgan said to Reuters. iQOO Z10R 5G goes on Sale: BEST Budget Phone for Content Creators? Proctor and Gamble picks IIM alumnus Shailesh Jejurikar as CEO, putting him 'Head&Shoulders' above US executives

File photo: IIM alumnus Shailesh Jejurikar TOI correspondent from Washington: Procter & Gamble (P&G), the storied consumer goods company that put Gillette and Old Spice, Crest and Vicks, Head&Shoulders and Pantene, Olay and Oral-B, Pampers and Tampax, among other products on the world's store shelves, has named Mumbai-born Shailesh Jejurikar as its next CEO. Jejurikar, 58, an alumnus of Hyderabad Public School (and a classmate of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella), Mumbai University, and IIM Lucknow (1989), will succeed Jon Moeller, who will transition to the role of Executive Chairman, the company said in an announcement. He will be the first Asian and Indian CEO minted entirely in the Indian education system to helm the 187-year old company, whose founding pre-dates Abraham Lincoln. Company man: P&G is also the only company Jejurikar has worked at in a 36-year career that began when he was recruited from IIM Lucknow in 1989 as an Assistant Brand Manager, skin care, going on to become marketing director for India a decade later. His transition to the global workplace began in 2010 when he was appointed Vice President for Home Care, North America, before being named CEO of P&G's Fabric & Home Care, the company's largest business sector, in 2019. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Brain tumor has left my son feeling miserable; please help! In 2021, he was appointed P&G's first-ever Chief Operating Officer to oversee a broad portfolio including P&G's Enterprise Markets (Latin America, India, Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Europe), as well as critical company-wide functions such as sales, market operations, purchasing, and manufacturing. Founded in 1837 by candlemaker William Procter and soap maker James Gamble, P&G currently has global revenues of around $84 billion, ranking it 51st in the Fortune 500. About 48 per cent of its revenue is from the US market and 52 percent spanning the rest of the world. More than 20 P&G products have global revenues of more than $ 1 billion each. Its India revenues have been growing fast and topped $2 billion recently, among the many reasons the board appears to have chosen him to lead the company even as sales in the US is slowing down. While India-born CEOs in the tech sector is now a familiar story (Microsoft, Google, IBM, Adobe Systems, YouTube, Micron all have Indian CEOs), less well-known is "desi" CEOs in the broader market beyond tech. Among them: Raj Subramaniam leading FedEx, Vivek Sankaran helming the grocery chain Albertsons, Vasant Narasimhan at Novartis AG, and Leena Nair, picked to lead France's global luxury brand Chanel. Jejurikar's elevation comes at a time of rampant nativism in Middle America, where he currently lives (in Cincinnati, Ohio, which is P&G's headquarters). While 90 per cent of P&G products sold in the US are made in America, allaying President Trump's rage about cheap foreign products, many in his MAGA base are resentful of foreign-born CEOs like Satya Nadella and Sundar Pichai despite their critical role in growing the US economy and their ties to India, providing an opening to a fast-growing market. Jejurikar is married to Sankhya, a visual artist, and they have two sons, who, the dad once revealed while talking up Tide pods (a P&G product) and promoting gender equality, do their own laundry. His brother Rajesh Jejurikar is the Executive Director and CEO of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd's Auto & Farm division. News of Shailesh's elevation triggered delight in the Indian corporate sector, now positioned as a global crucible for leadership. 'Shailesh Jejurikar's appointment as CEO proves yet again that Indian-American leaders can navigate not just tech, but the hearts and minds of US consumers. And this news has special meaning for us at @MahindraRise because Shailesh happens to be the younger brother of our very own Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO (Auto & Farm Sector) M&M Ltd,' the business patriarch Anand Mahindra noted. Lewis Hamilton Backs Kimi Antonelli: 'To Be Thrown In At The Deep End At 18'

Last Updated: Lewis Hamilton came out in support of Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli, praising the 18-year-old's performance despite recent criticism. Lewis Hamilton has strongly supported Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli, asserting that the 18-year-old is 'doing fantastic" despite growing criticism regarding his recent performances in Formula 1. 'I can't imagine what it's like at 18, or try to imagine what it's like at 18 to do what he's been doing," Hamilton was quoted as saying to Sky Sports. 'I think he's been doing fantastic to be thrown in at the deep end at 18. He didn't even have his driving licence when he started racing, so I think it's a lot on someone's shoulders and I think he's doing a great job." Who Is Kimi Antonelli? Antonelli, who replaced the seven-time World Champion at Mercedes this season, began his F1 career with a series of strong results, including five points finishes in the first six races and a podium in Canada. However, a dip in form has followed. The Italian crashed out with Max Verstappen in Austria, failed to score at Silverstone, and had a disappointing weekend in Belgium—failing to get out of SQ1 and Q1 before finishing outside the points. He was visibly emotional during post-race interviews. The pressure isn't entirely new. Antonelli also struggled under the spotlight in 2024, when he crashed during his F1 practice debut at Monza amid intense hype. He later admitted to being mentally and physically exhausted ahead of his home race at Imola this year, drained by the obligations that came with racing on Italian soil. But Hamilton believes Antonelli is handling the pressure as best as anyone could at such a young age. 'He's got a great group of people around him. I think he's just got to take it in his stride, which I think he is," said Hamilton. 'And as I say, he's got Bono [Pete Bonnington, Hamilton's former engineer] beside him, so he couldn't have anyone better."
