Police release video of suspect vehicle that killed 13-year-old boy in hit-and-run last year
Police have released a video of a suspect vehicle they believe is connected to the death of a 13-year-old boy who was killed in a hit-and-run incident while riding his bicycle in south Edmonton last year.

Just after 4 a.m. on May 29, 2024, officers were called to assist emergency crews with a hit-and-run collision involving a cyclist and a vehicle at 48 Street and 34 Avenue, said police in a Thursday news release.

The victim, Adam Edhi, 13, was riding his bike to his girlfriend's house to spend time with her before they both went to school when he was struck and killed.

The major collision investigations section took over the investigation and determined the collision occurred in the eastbound lanes of 34 Avenue, east of 48 Street. Police said the suspect vehicle has been identified as a blue 2017 Mazda 3 sedan, and the vehicle sustained damage to the front end and driver's side.

Detectives continue to investigate and are releasing the video to try and get more information and tips from the public that could lead to an arrest.

'As we continue to investigate this tragic loss of life, we are once again appealing to the public with video footage,' said EPS Acting Sgt. Chris Deslaurier with the major collision investigations section in a news release.

'While we are aware that significant time has passed, we have remained committed to ensuring that this incident is investigated to its fullest extent. We are hopeful that a member of the public will come forward with additional information about this vehicle or its driver, so we can provide some form of resolution to this young man's family.'

Edhi's family held a roadside memorial in May to commemorate the one-year anniversary of his death, and to bring awareness to the incident.

Edhi's mother, Jessa Lynch, hopes that releasing the video will encourage someone to provide more information that leads to an arrest.

'I think that somebody out there knows who they are, and they're hiding them and withholding information,' said Lynch.

'I think they have a community around them protecting them, because it's their loved one, which I can empathize with, but if my child was responsible for somebody else losing their life, I would ensure that they were at least accountable for something very serious they have done.'

Amber Alert for 2-year-old cancelled, situation deemed non-criminal: EPS
Edmonton Police Service (EPS) said it has cancelled the amber alert for a two-year-old girl on Saturday afternoon after determining that the situation was not criminal. Around 5 p.m., an Amber Alert issued across the province said that the child had been taken by a man in the Steinhauer area. Around 5:30 p.m., Alberta Emergency Alert posted on social media and their website that the alert had been cancelled and the child had been found. Amber Alert issued for 2-year-old girl in Edmonton
Edmonton Police Service has issued an amber alert across all of Alberta for a two-year-old girl who was taken from the Steinhauer area of south Edmonton. Aurora Alexis was taken from the area of 106 Street and 31 Avenue by Leonard Willier at 4 p.m, EPS said. The alert said Willier fled in a 2018 white Toyota Tundra with Saskatchewan plate 786 JBH. Willier is described as six feet tall with a stocky build. Alexis has brown hair and brown eyes. Police believe there may be additional passengers in the vehicle. They advise the public not to approach Willier and report all sightings to 911 or local law enforcement.

Article content 'I felt absolute shock and disbelief,' Metcalfe said in a phone interview with Postmedia earlier this week from her home near Okotoks, roughly 50 km south of Calgary. Article content Article content 'Now we have the suspect car, but we don't know anything else. Finding that car is a gift in a sense, but at the same time, we still don't have all the answers.' Article content Article content The photo shows substantial damage to the front end of the driver's side of the vehicle. Article content Investigators found the damaged sedan in a repair shop in Edmonton. The car had yet to receive any repairs or alterations, said police in a release. Article content 'I see them attacking my daughter online saying, 'Why is a child out at that time?' Even a year after, they're attacking her parenting skills. Have you ever been a teenager in love, and sneak out of the house?' said Metcalfe.
