Fairview woman waives charges to court in 2024 crash on I-79 that killed 17-year-old girl
A Fairview Township woman accused of causing a traffic accident on Interstate 79 that killed a 17-year-old girl in June 2024 waived her criminal case to court at her preliminary hearing Aug. 20. Kailee G. Davis, 20, waived to court felony counts of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and homicide by vehicle, one misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person, three misdemeanor counts of DUI, and summary counts of careless driving and failure to yield the right of way, according to prosecutors and court records. Prosecutors dropped two additional counts of recklessly endangering, consolidating the language in those counts into the single count that was waived to court, and also withdrew four summary traffic charges. Davis remains free on unsecured bond following her court appearance before Springfield Township District Judge Jeffrey Gadley Aug. 20. More: Vape shop settles lawsuit over fatal I-79 crash in which teen died and driver was charged What happened in the accident? Pennsylvania State Police investigators, in a criminal complaint filed July 1, accused Davis of driving with levels of THC in her system when, on June 16, 2024, she drove a 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross onto I-79 north from Interchange Road and collided with another vehicle in the left northbound travel lane of the interstate. A passenger in Davis' vehicle, 17-year-old Cadence M. Gannoe, was killed in the accident. Investigators wrote in Davis' criminal complaint that state police troopers found several vape pens in the area of the Mitsubishi following the crash, and found an advertisement for one of the pens which stated it contained 90%+THC content. Similar vape pens were found in the Mitsubishi when state police later searched it, according to information in the complaint. Investigators wrote that Davis consented to a blood draw for chemical testing following the crash, and testing found levels of THC in the blood sample.
