Andhra Pradesh government to come up with Space Policy 4.0 soon

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to draft the Andhra Pradesh Space Policy 4.0, aiming to put the State on top in the space sector, while attracting Rs 25,000 crore investments.
The space policy is expected to create 5,000 direct and 30,000 indirect jobs, fostering economic growth and innovation.
During a review meeting at his Undavalli camp office on Thursday, Naidu approved the establishment of Space Cities in Lepakshi and Tirupati, aligning with strategic goals for 2025-35.
The policy will lay emphasis on collaboration with educational institutions to engage students in the space sector, and encourage the creation of common infrastructure under the plug-and-play model.
Naidu also instructed the officials to form a technical committee to support this initiative, and invite leading communication firms to invest in the State.
Lepakshi Space City, spanning 500 acres, will focus on design, development, R&D, space startups, and innovation ecosystems.
New policy to offer capital subsidies up to 45% based on investment size
Meanwhile, Tirupati Space City will prioritise manufacturing, launch logistics, satellite and payload assembly, and avionics production.
The strategic location of the two cities — near Bengaluru for Lepakshi and Sriharikota-Chennai for Tirupati — enhance connectivity and growth potential. He also emphasised improving road connectivity from Tirupati to Sriharikota to support logistics.
To attract investors, the policy will propose capital subsidies ranging from 25% to 45% based on investment size, for micro (Rs 1–Rs 2.5 crore), small (Rs 2.5–25 crore), medium (Rs 25–125 crore), large (Rs 125–500 crore), and mega (above Rs 500 crore) units.
Special incentives are planned for women, BC, SC, ST, minority, and differently-abled entrepreneurs to promote inclusivity. Former ISRO Chairman S Somanath, joining via video conference, highlighted the global space sector's potential, noting that companies like Starlink, SpaceX, and Blue Origin are driving innovation.
He emphasised that the future lies in space technology, with India aiming to capture a larger share of the global space economy, currently at 2%. The Centre's Space Vision 2047 includes ambitious projects like Chandrayaan-4, Venus Orbiter Mission, Mars Lander Mission, and human spaceflight, targeting a human landing on the moon by 2040.
The Space Policy 4.0 aligns with these national goals, integrating technologies in electronics, aerospace, defence, and drones. By fostering innovation, offering attractive incentives, and building world-class infrastructure, the State aims to become a global hub for space technology.

Feeling proud: Parents and teacher of Shubhanshu Shukla celebrate his journey to ISS

Lucknow: The parents and teacher of India's second astronaut, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, on Friday expressed pride after he successfully reached the International Space Station (ISS). Speaking with IANS, they shared their emotions and reactions, highlighting their pride and thanking God for his safe arrival. IAF officer Shukla made history as the first Indian to reach the ISS and only the second Indian to travel to space, nearly 40 years after Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma's mission with the Soviet space programme in 1984. He travelled aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft, launched on a Falcon 9 rocket from NASA's Kennedy Space Centre in Florida. The Axiom 4 mission, which involves Axiom Space, NASA, and SpaceX, is historic for India, Poland, and Hungary - the three countries that sent their astronauts to space in decades. Shukla's mother, Asha Shukla, shared her joy and relief: "I am feeling very good. I spoke with him once after he reached space. I hope he returns safely. I felt proud when he landed in space. It's a proud moment for India. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath came to meet us and offered his congratulations. I also feel that Prime Minister Narendra Modi played an important role in this journey." His father, Shambhu Dayal Sharma, said: "I am very happy and thankful to God for his safe journey. When he was going, he told us to stay happy and not to worry. I pray for his safety and success. CM Yogi came and congratulated us. He said it's a proud moment that a son of Uttar Pradesh has gone to space. He also assured that steps will be taken to encourage such achievements in the future." Shukla's former teacher, Nageshwar Prasad Shukla, also shared memories associated with him. "He was always a top student and had a dream to join the NDA. I spoke to him five months ago. We had some idea about his selection, but it became official when Prime Minister Modi announced it. He was shy in nature back then, but we've seen a transformation over 22 years. His confidence has grown tremendously. I pray for the success of his mission." As the nation celebrates this milestone, pride runs high in his hometown and among those who shaped his journey.

NFO Alert: Introducing Bajaj Finserv Small Cap Fund

Pune, Maharashtra, India (NewsVoir) Risk is often misunderstood as something to be avoided, but in investing, it's the fuel that can power long-term returns. It's also important to recognize that risk isn't defined by size – sometimes, even large, familiar companies can fail due to issues like poor governance or excessive debt. Long-term outperformance doesn't come from size alone, but from quality, strong governance, and sustainable growth. The key is not to avoid risk, but to understand it, manage it, and potentially use it to your advantage. This is especially true in the small cap space, which tends to be highly volatile. But in investing, higher risk usually means higher potential returns. To tap into the potential of small caps while mitigating risk through research-backed stock selection, the Bajaj Finserv AMC announces the launch of Bajaj Finserv Small Cap Fund with a 3-in-1 advantage: Quality – companies with distinct competitive advantage, Growth – companies with high scalability potential, and Value – companies that are trading at below their intrinsic value. Small cap companies are businesses ranked 251st and beyond on the basis of market capitalisation on the stock exchange as per SEBI guidelines. They often operate in emerging sectors and may offer higher growth potential over the long term. For instance, in the past half-a-decade, small caps have outpaced large and mid-caps in profit contribution, growing up to 2.5X faster. ICICI stake watch: ICICI Bank moves to retain majority in AMC, ADR rules set for tweak

ICICI Bank has approved plans to raise its stake in ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company by up to 2 per cent, as part of efforts to retain majority control ahead of a potential dilution due to stock-based compensation at the fund house. In a regulatory filing on Friday, the bank said its board has cleared the proposal to purchase up to 2 per cent additional shareholding in the asset management firm, PTI reported. 'This purchase will primarily be towards maintaining the bank's majority shareholding in the event of grant of stock-based compensation by the company,' it said. The move will be subject to requisite regulatory approvals, the bank added. ICICI Bank currently holds a 51 per cent stake in the AMC, while the remaining 49 per cent is owned by its joint venture partner, UK-based Prudential PLC. In February this year, the bank had disclosed its intention to retain majority control in the AMC even as Prudential moves ahead with a planned listing and partial stake sale in the fund house. ICICI Prudential AMC posted a net profit of Rs 1,815 crore in FY24, up from Rs 1,508 crore in the previous year. In another key decision, the ICICI Bank board also approved an amendment to the bank's ADR Deposit Agreement to grant voting rights on deposited securities to registered American Depository Shares (ADS) holders, subject to RBI approval. 'The voting rights by the registered ADS holder would be subject to it demonstrating that its holdings are in conformity with Section 12B of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 read with applicable Master Direction & Guidelines, as amended from time to time,' the filing said.
