Title:
The Meaning of Freedom in Today's India
Opening
Good morning respected principal, teachers, and my dear friends. Today, as we gather to celebrate the 79th Independence Day of our beloved country, I feel honoured to speak about the meaning of freedom in today's India.
Body
Seventy-eight years ago, our freedom fighters dreamed of an India where every citizen could live with dignity, free from foreign rule. They sacrificed their lives so that we could breathe the air of liberty. But freedom is not only about independence from colonial powers—it also means having the right to education, equality, and opportunities for all.
In today's India, freedom means the ability to express ourselves, to innovate, and to contribute to the progress of our society. It also comes with responsibility: to respect the law, protect the environment, and help those in need.
We have achieved much—advances in technology, space exploration, and economic growth. Yet, challenges like poverty, inequality, and environmental issues remain. As young citizens, it is our duty to address these challenges with creativity, courage, and unity.
Closing
Friends, freedom is a gift we must cherish and protect. Let us pledge today to be responsible citizens and work together for a better India.
Thank you. Jai Hind!

Title:
My Vision for India in 2047
On 15 August 1947, India became a free nation after years of struggle and sacrifice. In 2025, as we celebrate 79 years of independence, we also look ahead to 2047—when our country will mark 100 years of freedom.
My vision for India in 2047 is of a nation that is prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable. I imagine an India where every child has access to quality education, healthcare, and opportunities to succeed. I want to see an economy that uses clean energy, advanced technology, and innovation to improve lives without harming the environment.
Social harmony will be the foundation of this vision, where people of different faiths, languages, and regions live together in peace. I dream of an India that is a global leader not just in economic terms, but also in values—upholding justice, equality, and compassion.
The journey towards this vision will require hard work, honesty, and unity from all of us. If each citizen takes responsibility for their role, we can make this dream a reality.
Independence Day: Tips for preparing a speech or essay
Start with a strong opening – A historical quote or short story can engage the audience.
Keep it concise – Avoid overly long introductions; focus on main points.
Use simple language – Make sure your audience understands without jargon.
Add real-life examples – Connect ideas with events, achievements, or personal experiences.
End with a call to action – Inspire listeners or readers to contribute positively to society.
Independence Day is not just a celebration of past victories but a reminder of the responsibilities that come with freedom. Whether through a speech or an essay, the aim should be to inspire pride in the nation and encourage efforts towards a more inclusive and developed India.

Pune: The circular the National Service Scheme (NSS) wing of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) issued on Aug 5 to all student volunteers to participate to the maximum extent in the 'Voice of Devendra', a state-level elocution competition, was withdrawn on Tuesday by its director Sadanand Bhosale. Shiv Sena (UBT) functionary Sushama Andhare and NCP (SP)'s Rohit Pawar too spoke against the circular. Pawar posted on his X account that the university has perhaps forgotten that it should not become part of a political agenda and should focus on improving academic quality and strengthening the voice of democracy rather than engaging in hero worship. Bhosale said the university was not organising the contest but merely informing students about it. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Top 15 Prettiest Icons In The History The Noodle Box Undo "We get proposals from organisations like Rotary Club, the police and others to popularise their contests or events such as tree plantation or other activities. The university was not involved in anything else. In light of the protests, we have withdrawn the circular," he added. No coercive action against overage vehicles: Supreme Court

NEW DELHI: In a relief to owners facing the threat of their overage vehicles being impounded by city authorities, Supreme Court Tuesday directed no coercive action be taken against them and agreed to re-examine its 2018 order by which it had banned the plying of over 15-year-old petrol and 10-year-old diesel vehicles. The respite came after SG Tushar Mehta and additional solicitor general Aishwarya Bhati, appearing for Delhi govt, appealed to a three-judge bench led by CJI Gavai to recall the order on the grounds it was causing hardships to citizens of Delhi and that pollution, contrary to assumption, is not directly related to the age of vehicles due to advancements in technology and use of BS VI emission norm. In its application, govt said there was a need for a graded, balanced and technology-driven regime to handle vehicular pollution, and that instead of an age-based blanket ban, a scientific and data-driven framework should be developed that considers all relevant indicators to ascertain pollution by individual vehicles. It submitted such a policy would ensure not only the protection of the environment through the phasing out of polluting vehicles but also preserve the rights of responsible vehicle owners. No scientific basis for taking overage vehicles off roads, govt pleaded in apex court A senior citizen and owner of a 2011 BMW car, apprehending impounding of his vehicle, also moved the court and his lawyer Charu Mathur contended that a complete ban on vehicles based on their age rather than fitness or compliance with emission norms was wrong and needed to be examined. "Issue notice. Returnable in four weeks. In the meantime no coercive steps should be taken against the owners of (such) vehicles on the ground... List it after four weeks," it said. The 2018 SC order was not vigorously implemented by authorities and was done only last year, which led to public outcry, following which the drive to impound the vehicles was halted. This compelled govt to seek recall of the SC order. The govt in its application said, "It is submitted that if the order of this court dated 29.10.2018 continues to operate, it will result in road worthy, non-polluting BS-VI vehicles also going off the roads in a matter of a few years without a scientific basis for the same. Further, it is respectfully submitted that there does not appear to be a scientific basis for mandating that even BS-IV vehicles which meet PUC norms should be taken off the roads in Delhi NCR. It is submitted that these are serious issues which may require a fresh scientific evaluation". "It is respectfully submitted that the order passed by this court was originally passed as an emergency measure during a period when BS-IV emission standards were in force and the migration to BS-VI, which has much stricter and advanced norms, had not yet commenced," the govt said. "However, it is submitted that to tackle the issue of pollution in NCR, a comprehensive policy is required which gives vehicle fitness based on the actual emission levels of an individual vehicle as per scientific methods rather than implementing a blanket ban based solely on the age of the vehicle," it said.
