Euro-Mediterranean HR monitor: 85% of Gaza Strip under Israeli control

Saba Yemena day ago
Geneva – Saba:
The Geneva-based Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor accused Israeli entity on Wednesday of continuing to commit the crime of forced displacement against the population of the Gaza Strip, as part of a declared and systematic policy aimed at emptying the Strip of its indigenous population.
The monitor said in a statement that Israeli entity is using multiple tools to achieve this goal, including widespread bombing, bulldozing, starvation, destruction of infrastructure, forced expulsion by military force, and forced eviction orders.
It stated that Israeli entity has transformed most of the Gaza Strip into devastated and uninhabitable lands, forcing hundreds of thousands of residents to forcibly regroup in a small area of no more than 15% of the Strip's area, in preparation for mass displacement outside Gaza.
This is a direct extension of the genocide committed against Palestinians for nearly 21 months, according to Quds Press Agency.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor revealed that between June 28 and 30, Israeli forces issued three new military evacuation orders covering large areas east and south of Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip, displacing tens of thousands of civilians without any safe haven or possibility of return.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor noted that these orders bring the number of evacuation orders issued by Israel since March 18, the date on which it reneged on the temporary ceasefire agreement, to 51. Some are new orders, others are renewals of previous orders, amid ongoing military escalation.
It explained that more than 85% of the Gaza Strip is now under direct military control or subject to forced displacement orders, effectively systematically erasing the Palestinian presence on the ground and a blatant attempt to effect permanent demographic change.
The Observatory reported that displacement orders since last March have displaced at least one million Palestinians, many of whom were forced to flee to destroyed or open areas or to the streets, amid a lack of food, water, and services, and amidst the spread of disease, under extremely harsh humanitarian conditions.
The Observatory noted that Israeli enemy forces are not content with expelling residents, but are systematically destroying the neighborhoods they are displacing through aerial bombardment, explosive robot bombing, and demolition and bulldozing, in one of the largest campaigns of urban and residential destruction in modern times.
It confirmed that Israeli bombardment even targets areas to which civilians have been forced to flee, including tents, schools, and shelters. On Tuesday, July 1, five civilians, including a woman and two children, were killed when their tents were targeted in al-Mawasi area west of Khan Yunis, despite it being one of the areas to which the enemy had previously directed displaced persons.
With American and European support, the Israeli enemy army has continued to commit genocidal crimes in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, resulting in the martyrdom of 57,012 Palestinian citizens, the majority of whom were children and women, and the injury of 134,592 others.
To date, this is a preliminary toll, with thousands of victims still buried under the rubble and on the streets, unable to be reached by ambulances and rescue teams.

Gaza Civil Defense demands urgent international intervention to continue search, rescue operations

Gaza – SABA: The Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip has held the Israeli enemy responsible for the continued targeting of the Zaytoun, Shujaiya, and Tuffah neighborhoods in Gaza, calling for safe humanitarian corridors for rescue teams and urgent international intervention to provide logistical support for ongoing search and rescue operations. This came in a video statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA) from Mahmoud Basal, the Civil Defense spokesperson, regarding "the repercussions of Israel's refusal to allow Civil Defense teams to carry out humanitarian interventions, respond to distress calls, and rescue survivors trapped under the rubble in residential areas it has bombed in Zaytoun, Tuffah, and Shujaiya." Mahmoud Basal stated: "Civil Defense teams are facing extremely difficult field conditions that hinder their humanitarian missions." He added: "Over the past few days, the Israeli enemy has directly bombed residential blocks, targeting more than 200 homes and buildings, particularly in the Zaytoun, Shujaiya, and Tuffah areas east of Gaza City, resulting in widespread destruction and a large number of casualties." He confirmed that "around 82 missing individuals remain under the rubble, some of whom were still alive, as we received their desperate pleas from beneath the debris in horrifying scenes.' He said: "We continue to receive urgent appeals from families begging us to reach their missing loved ones and save their lives. However, the ongoing Israeli bombardment and lack of coordination make intervention nearly impossible." He added: "We are making tremendous efforts to coordinate entry into these areas, but they are extremely dangerous. Our teams face the constant threat of occupation forces' shelling, along with other challenges, including the risk of being directly targeted and the absence of safe access routes to bombed areas." The Gaza Civil Defense called for "immediate and secure humanitarian corridors for rescue teams, urgent international intervention to provide logistical support for search and rescue operations, and effective on-ground coordination to ensure the safety of our teams and enable them to reach targeted areas." It held "the Israeli enemy fully responsible for the continued targeting of cities and civilian gatherings," urging "the international community and the free world to take immediate action to stop this ongoing humanitarian catastrophe." UN Rapporteur: 'Israel' is committing one of cruelest acts of genocide in modern history

Geneva – SABA: UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, affirmed on Thursday that 'Israel is responsible for one of the cruelest acts of genocide in modern history.' This came in her report titled 'From Occupation Economy to Genocidal Economy,' which she presented at the UN Human Rights Council session in Geneva. The report explores the economic dimensions of the genocide perpetrated by the Israeli regime against the Palestinian people over the past 22 months. According to the Palestinian Safa News Agency, Albanese said that the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories resembles 'Doomsday.' She explained that the report outlines the economic mechanisms that enable the Israeli entity to displace Palestinians through destruction, isolation, and surveillance. Albanese described the so-called 'Gaza Humanitarian Zone' as nothing more than a 'death trap' designed either to kill or force starving residents to flee. She emphasized that Gaza's residents continue to endure indescribable suffering, with over 200,000 Palestinians killed or injured, according to official figures. She also noted that Palestinians in the occupied West Bank are undergoing 'the largest forced displacement' since 1967, amid violence by armed settlers, and the daily suffocation of life by over 900 checkpoints and barriers. She reported that nearly 1,000 people have been killed, 10,000 injured, another 10,000 detained, and many tortured. Meanwhile, during the same period, the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange surged by 213% in dollar terms since October 2023, with a total increase of $125.7 billion. Albanese stressed that Israel has exploited the genocide as an 'opportunity' to test new weapons, surveillance tools, and war technologies such as drones. She highlighted that the company Elbit Systems received an Innovation Award from Israel's Ministry of Defense, while Lockheed Martin and a global network of 1,650 companies benefited from Israel's use of F-35 fighter jets in 'Beast Mode'—carrying up to 22,000 kilograms of munitions, four times the payload of their stealth configuration. She asserted that many weapons manufacturers have posted record profits through arming the Israeli entity, stressing that every country bears a responsibility to disengage entirely from this 'genocidal economy' and cut ties with it. Backed by U.S. and European support, the Israeli military has continued committing acts of genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in the martyrdom of 57,130 Palestinian civilians—mostly children and women—and the injury of 135,173 others, as of Thursday. These numbers are not final, as thousands remain trapped under rubble or on roadsides inaccessible to ambulance and rescue teams. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print more of (International)
