Alun Wyn Jones appointed to Royal Welsh military role by King
In his role, Jones will wear military uniform and serve as an ambassador for Wales, "inspiring current and future generations" of The Royal Welsh."It is an honour for us to bring into the fold a true Welsh warrior," said Maj Gen Chris Barry, colonel of the regiment.

Brig Wardle, for former head of the Army in Wales and outgoing honorary colonel, said there is "no set job description" in the role but its main task "is to support the battalion in any way possible"."The main role though is to see what reservists do, to listen to their stories and to encourage them and to be a positive role model."Alun Wyn has a history of service to his country, and he has widely-recognised leadership qualities - I can't think of a more fitting person to enthuse, motivate and inspire the battalion than him," he said.

Rio Ferdinand has shared the moment his former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson awkwardly gatecrashed the recording of his latest podcast. Ferdinand posted footage of him in conversation with his ex-Man United team-mate Michael Carrick, who has since embarked on a career in management. The clip showed the pair mid discussion, before Ferguson appeared in the background of the restaurant where they had set up to record. 'What's this,' Ferguson said upon seeing his former stars and the set-up to record the podcast, which is also part of Ferdinand's YouTube channel. Ferdinand and Carrick both immediately respond 'alright boss', before Ferguson quickly issues a demand to the duo. 'I'm not doing this podcast,' Ferguson responds. Ferdinand's podcast with Carrick had included a discussion about Ferguson's impact on his career, as well as his time as a coach at Man United under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

Wilson to use 'home advantage' at Para-Badminton International
Jack Wilson says competing on home soil will be "something special" as he prepares for the British & Irish Para-Badminton International in 30-year-old, from Glyn Ceiriog near Wrexham, will compete in the SU5 category for athletes with upper limb impairments. Currently ranked number one in both Wales and the UK, Wilson is eager to make the most of familiar surroundings."It's the first time since 2003 that para-badminton has been back in Wales," says Wilson. "I've got home advantage, back in the hall I spent 10 years of my life in. I'm raring to go." With a medal firmly in his sights, Wilson also hopes the event will shine a light on the sport's accessibility."The ideal scenario is to at least medal," added Wilson."It's very important to raise awareness of the sport and show that it's accessible. "Badminton Wales have done a lot recently in promoting para-badminton."
