Okaro, who won the 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships in April, said: 'I think it's a privilege to be in this role and I like to be a role model to especially young girls of any ethnicity, any colour, it doesn't matter.
'But it's just nice to know that I'm not in this alone as well because they don't just look up to me, but they encourage me and want to see me do well and I think that's also a big thing, just knowing that there are people behind me and people that I don't even know that just believe in me.
'That helps a lot with my confidence and being able to perform.'
Asked if she was aware anecdotally of youngsters who had been encouraged by her rise to prominence, Okaro added: 'I've had a few messages before and I've been stopped a couple of times by little girls who are basically just telling me that they keep swimming because of me, which is really nice.'

Okaro, who still trains with her twin sister Izabella, is scheduled to compete in the 50m and 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly in Singapore, although is yet to make a decision on whether to take part in all three after missing a week and a half of training while she sat her A-levels.
Whatever happens at the World Championships, she will be heading for the United States later this year to continue her athletic and academic careers at the University of Texas, glad her exams are out of the way.
She said: 'It's definitely made me feel more relaxed, 100 per cent, because little things like even homework or turning up to lessons and waking up at 7.30am for breakfast, stuff like that, I don't have to do that anymore so I can solely be focused on swimming.
'That's definitely something I've got in my locker now and it's just made it a lot easier for me.'

Glenn Irwin to make British Superbike comeback with new team after shock Hager PBM Ducati split
The Carrickfergus man was confirmed to be departing the Ducati side by 'mutual consent' on Tuesday morning after the two sides reached a 'point of conflict' in their discussions over his comeback from a horror crash at Snetterton in June that left him needing surgery on his pelvic region. Irwin had sounded an optimistic note that he could be back as early as this weekend however, despite that, in a statement by Hager PBM Ducati it was revealed that the pair have parted ways by 'mutual consent', with former British champion Scott Redding drafted in as Irwin's replacement for the remainder of the season. It did not take long for the 35-year-old to find a replacement ride, however, with Nitrous Competitions OMG Racing Yamaha confirming only an hour later that they would be adding Irwin to their roster for the remainder of the campaign alongside defending British champion Kyle Ryde, running two bikes for the rest of the year. Irwin will take to the grid at Thruxton at the weekend on his new machine for the first time, with team owner David Williams commenting: 'Nitrous Competitions OMG Racing are excited to have Glenn join the team. 'Following Glenn's serious accident at Snetterton in June and period of recovery it was the opinion of the team that his return should be deferred until at least after Round 7 at Cadwell Park. 'This decision was taken by the team management on the ground of managing competition expectations and a duty of care to Glenn as despite recovering to a position where 'fitness to ride' could potentially be achieved, the team felt that risks remained in this early period of recovery that a subsequent fall could result in a further, complicated injury. 'As a result of a point of conflict the parties have agreed to terminate their contractual relationship, and Glenn is free to pursue other opportunities to fulfil his insistence to immediately return to competition.'

Florian Wirtz is expected to operate in a number of different roles for Liverpool this season following his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen for an initial £100m Liverpool's most exciting new face Florian Wirtz is confident that if Arne Slot gives him the freedom to express himself then he'll make the reigning champions even better. Wirtz, 22, already has his image emblazoned on the outside of the Kop and made his first appearance in front of his new adoring home fans in Monday's friendly against Athletic Bilbao. The £100m man, who signed from Bayer Leverkusen in June in a deal which could rise to a British record £116m, is the headline act of a busy summer spending spree which so far tops £265m - and there could be more to come in the shape of Alexander Isak. But Wirtz has no fear over his price tag, and is instead focusing on how he can improve a team which won the Premier League with four games to spare last season. 'I came here to play my best football and because I thought I could fit into this team,' said Wirtz. 'I'm really enjoying my first few weeks. I'm enjoying playing with these players. It's getting a little bit better every time and I'm happy about how it's going.' Wirtz donned a red shirt for the first time on the club's pre-season tour of the Far East, featuring against AC Milan and the Japanese side Yokohama F Marinos, against whom he found the net. 'I've not played a match in the Premier League yet but I am looking forward to it and that's why I came.' Champions Liverpool shelled out an initial £100m to take Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, and should certain add-ons be met then that will rise to £116m. That fee would eclipse the current British transfer record of £115m that Chelsea paid to take Moises Caicedo from Brighton two years ago. Liverpool remain in the hunt for Newcastle 's Alexander Isak in a deal that could top Wirtz's club record fee, but if that transfer doesn't come off then Wirtz has no problem with being known as the most expensive new addition to the champions' squad in what has so far been a £265m summer. Pressed on the fee Liverpool have paid for him, Wirtz said: 'No, I don't think about this. 'I just want to play football and how much money the clubs pay between each other doesn't matter.' The Germany star says he can't wait for his first experience of the Premier League, with the title holders kicking off the new season at home to Bournemouth a week on Friday after they've contested Sunday's Community Shield against Crystal Palace. 'I'm really looking forward to playing in England and of course, there are some differences to the German League,' said Wirtz. 'But I think there's also some things I can learn and that can make me better. 'My team-mates say it's more intense, more physical. Every player is really strong, really fast, so that's what everyone's telling me, but I'm aware of it.' Wirtz played for 74 minutes of Liverpool's second pre-season friendly against Athletic Bilbao on Monday evening, in which he twice went close to scoring in the opening moments. A Cody Gakpo brace and a Mo Salah goal gave the Reds a 3-2 win over Athletic in the second match of the evening, with youngster Rio Ngumoha helping to inspire a second-string side to a 4-1 win over the same opponents earlier in the night.
