A first half horror show from Russell Martin's side is threatening to get even worse and some punters don't want to see any more
Rangers manager Russell Martin cuts a frustrated figure on the Ibrox touchline
Rangers fans started leaving Ibrox after just 20 MINUTES as their team's Champions League dream imploded in front of their eyes.

Russell Martin's shellshocked side shipped three goals to a Club Brugge team who no doubt can't believe their luck and already have one foot in the league phase and are counting the £40million jackpot that is surely coming their way.

Nasser Djiga's moment of madness in just leaving a ball over the top for Jack Butland to collect was punished in exquisite style by Romeo Vermant, who chipped the ball over the stranded keeper first time.

The boos started in earnest after just seven minutes when Jorne Spileers was given the freedom of the penalty are to double the advantage.
And a third goal after less than a third of the game had been played proved too much for some.
Fans started making their way to the exits no doubt with a stiff drink in mind given what their team had subjected them too.

It was picked up by stunned Amazon Prime commentator Jon Champion, who was quick to point out the mass exodus. The anger of those who stayed was also not lost on former Gers coach and co-commentator for the night Neil McCann.
And the fear will be that this could get far, far worse before it gets any better and some punters would rather not hang around to witness it.
Chris Sutton stuck the boot in when he posted on social media: "I thought Rangers fans don't do walking away… 20 minutes in and many have given up already…"

Club Brugge manager in shock 'spaces' admission about Rangers defence

The Belgian club found themselves 3-0 up after 20 minutes in the first leg of their Champions League play-off double header thanks to some lamentable defending by their Scottish rivals. Russell Martin has been heavily criticised by pundits and supporters for the porousness of his team's rearguard in their competitive matches this season and the manager had his goalkeeper Jack Butland to thanks for preventing a mauling last night. Read more: Hayen, whose side reached the knockout rounds of Europe's premier club competition last season, admitted he and his coaching staff had identified weaknesses they could exploit in the build-up to the encounter in Govan. However, Hayen stressed, after watching Danilo pull a goal back for Rangers in the second half, the tie was far from over and insisted that James Tavernier and his team mates could still come back and progress to the league phase of the competition. (Image: PA Wire) "We knew where the spaces were,' he said. 'We played here in the friendly game (during pre-season), and we showed also in that first half that if our players play at their best level, that they can hurt a lot of teams. Read more: "We said before the game, 'Okay, the atmosphere is incredible, but you have to embrace the atmosphere and not fight against it'. This is what they did in the first seven minutes perfectly and this is the way how you can get the silence into a stadium. "But as long as there is still 90 minutes to play, everything is possible. We don't forget that we are 2-0 down against Salzburg (Club Brugge came from behind to prevail also. So we have to be smart, we have to be intelligent, play our best football, like in the first half."

Rangers boss Russell Martin not giving up hope on Champions League hopes

Russell Martin believes Rangers can still get through their Champions League play-off tie despite the 3-1 defeat by Club Brugge at Ibrox. In a nightmare first 20 minutes, goals from Romeo Vermant – following some calamitous defending by Gers defender Nasser Djiga – Jorne Spileers and Brandon Mechele had the visitors 3-0 up and Ibrox in an uproar. Brazilian striker Danilo pulled a goal back four minutes after the break and the home side rallied, but the Belgian outfit stood firm and boos greeted the players at the end. The second leg is in Belgium next Wednesday but against the evidence of the first half at Ibrox, Martin remains optimistic. 'We conceded a crazy goal and didn't respond to it anywhere well enough,' he said. 'We then conceded a goal from a corner which is really frustrating. 'And then it becomes so difficult and then after that, we make decisions based on desperation and anxiety, jump when we shouldn't, get played around and so the game plan went out the window at that point. 'And we needed a moment to calm down and refocus but it was difficult and we didn't respond well as a club to that because we were hurt early in the game. 'The lads showed amazing resilience in the second half, the fans were amazing the second half, considering the disappointment of the first half. 'And the tie is still open and the players feel that, they really feel that. 'I am proud of them and the first half was as hard as it will ever be and how they got through that, some of the guys who have had a tough start here, the way they played tonight, they will grow from that and we will as a group. 'So the tie is still game on so I am excited about that opportunity. 'My message to supporters is the team needs them. Whatever happens, we need them. We have to give them enough to believe in their team. 'Everyone's entitled to their opinions but we need everyone to grow together if we want to be successful.' Club Brugge boss Nicky Hayen also insisted the tie was far from over. He said: 'We knew where the spaces were. We played here in the friendly game (pre-season), and we showed also in that first half that if our players play at their best level, that they can hurt a lot of teams. 'We said before the game, OK, the atmosphere is incredible, but you have to embrace the atmosphere and not fight against it, and this is what they did in the first seven minutes perfectly, and this is the way how you can get the silence into a stadium. 'But as long as there is still 90 minutes to play, everything is possible. 'We don't forget that we are 2-0 down against Salzburg also. So we have to be smart, we have to be intelligent, play our best football, like in the first half.' Former Don Niall McGinn expects a fired-up Aberdeen at Morton

Former Aberdeen attacker Niall McGinn believes being crowned Scottish Cup winners will have put 'fire in the bellies' of Jimmy Thelin's squad as they return to cup competition this weekend. The Dons are back on cup duty on Saturday when they travel to Cappielow to face Championship side Morton in the Premier Sports Cup. McGinn knows how it feels to bring silverware to Pittodrie having been part of the League Cup winning team of 2014. The former Northern Ireland international insists winning silverware for the Dons for the first time in 19 years whetted the appetite for more cup finals during his time at Pittodrie – and he expects it will have the same effect on the class of 2025. McGinn said: 'Aberdeen have to have that hunger. 'There's no better opportunity than experiencing the Scottish Cup win last season and then welcoming in new lads. 'Having seen what the club has done should give you that hunger and fire in the bellies straight away, because if you're at a club like Aberdeen, you have to be challenging for cups. 'Yes, in the league you are trying to be consistent and finish as high up the table as you can. 'But the importance of getting to Hampden was always driven into me and into the players when I was there. 'Once you get to Hampden, with a wee bit of luck along the way, anything can happen, and you've seen that in May when they won the Scottish Cup. 'To get to these finals, you have to go to difficult venues like Aberdeen face on Saturday at Morton, so I'm sure the manager will be getting the messages across and trying to build on the cup success last season.' McGinn, who returned to Scottish football last season with Morton, knows Dougie Imrie's side will be full of belief they can cause an upset and knock the Dons out of the competition on Saturday. The Peterhead attacker says the Ton's recent cup record shows they can be formidable opponents at Cappielow. The 38 year-old said: 'Morton will be feeling probably confident, knowing Aberdeen have slacked off in the first two games of the season. 'It will be a very tough game for obviously both teams, and Aberdeen's perspective, they just need to get back to winning ways and they will see this game as their opportunity to do that. 'But, knowing the sort of club Morton are it's going to be a tough test. 'It's a small pitch and Morton have shown over the course of the last number of years they can cause teams problems. 'They've had good results against the likes of Motherwell in the Scottish Cup last year and they pushed Hearts all the way in the quarter-final as well. 'They'll want to make it difficult for Aberdeen, and the manager will have them well organised. 'They have good players there and it's got all the ingredients for being a very good game.' McGinn returned to Scottish football when he joined Morton on loan from Glentoran a year ago and looks back on his season at the Championship club with fondness. The former Don, who opened his account for the Blue Toon when he scored in their 4-2 win against Aberdeen B in the KDM Evolution Trophy at Balmoor Stadium on Tuesday, said: 'I enjoyed it at Morton. 'I was enjoying being back in Ireland, but the opportunity came back to go to the Scottish Championship, which is a good league, competitive league. 'Every team was full-time, and I just thought 'why not? Let's go and give it an opportunity' and I enjoyed it. 'It was a bit of an up-and-down season but we comfortably stayed in the league. 'We got to the stage towards the end of the season where we were sort of out of the play-offs, but definitely not going to get relegated. 'I'm glad of the opportunity. I ended up coaching the 18s for about three months as well, which was pleasing for me.'
