The Los Angeles Sparks are still trying to find their groove to start the season, but one thing has stayed consistent since the first game. Kelsey Plum has been dominant in almost every game and is trying to lead the team to wins in her first season. With a change of scenery, Plum is taking advantage of the opportunity, and Dawn Staley said on the Around the W show that she saw this coming from the point guard.

'I knew once she agreed to the trade, I think she's in her element,' Staley said. 'Much like Jalen Brunson when he left Dallas and the Knicks put the ball in his hands. I think he's best in that position, for Kelsey Plum I think she's best in that position. Let her be the one and you're going to see her thrive in her position.'
When Brunson was with the Mavericks, he was usually deferring to Luka Doncic, but once he got with the Knicks, he was able to expand his game. The same thing can be said with Plum, as she had players such as Jackie Young, Chelsea Gray, and A'ja Wilson to share the ball with. She still has to do that on the Sparks, but she's able to be more of the lead dog on the team.
Once the Sparks are healthy, there's a good chance they'll start to find a rhythm and get more wins.
Sparks looking to find consistency early in season
The Sparks are currently 2-6, and they're trying to get on track as the season continues. Plum knows what it's going to take time for them to get where they want, but she believes that they can do it.

'I know that I'm not someone that's a very patient human being, I'm working on it,' Plum said. 'But it's the reality of the top teams in the league, whether that's Minnesota, New York, Vegas, Seattle, their core group has been together for a long time. So we're going to continue to build, and I have faith that we get there.'
Plum is still learning her new teammates, and she working to get better in her role so the team can improve.
'I feel like I could do a better job of stopping runs, just getting into stuff and getting people the ball, good shots,' Plum said. 'This league is extremely tough. If you take your foot off the gas for a second, offensively or defensively, people make you pay.'

The Knicks have not had a lot of success over the previous two decades, but Thibodeau changed things when he took over the jump prior to the 2020-21 season. While the Knicks were unable to overcome the Indiana Pacers in the conference finals, the fact that they were able to get there by dethroning the defending champion Boston Celtics was impressive. It was a run New York could continue to build on, but instead, it fired Thibodeau and there doesn't seem to be much of a plan. The Knicks have been going after coaches who already have jobs. They have been denied by the Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Chicago Bulls, and Atlanta Hawks for an interview request for their respective head coaches. It's a confusing route thus far and Philadelphia 76ers legend Charles Barkley has had enough: The Knicks got to be the stupidest damn people in the world. Like you don't fire no good coach and don't have a plan. Thibs did a hell of a job. Obviously, something's going on there, but you don't have a plan? And now three coaches have turned you down. You got to have a plan, man, and they don't have a plan. I don't know what the hell they're going to do. The Knicks certainly have some work to do. On the flip side, when considering there appears to be some dysfunction in New York, that opens the door for the Sixers to possibly make their move up the ladder in the East.

Knicks next coach odds take unexpected turn after latest interview denial The New York Knicks appear to be having a hard time finding a head coach. Rather than having an available name lined up when they decided to fire Tom Thibodeau last week, the Knicks have been trying to poach a coach from another team. So far, that plan has been a massive failure, with ESPN's Shams Charania reporting Wednesday that the Atlanta Hawks denied New York's request to speak with their head coach -- the fifth known team to do so. So, where do the Knicks turn now? The Athletic's Sam Amick reported Thursday the team is now focusing on Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins as targets. And now Brown is the new +105 favorite at DraftKings to land the job. Unlike, Atlanta's Quin Snyder — and Jason Kidd, Ime Udoka, Chris Finch and Billy Donovan before him — Brown is not currently on a team. He was fired by the Sacramento Kings back in December. After Brown, Jenkins, who was fired by the Memphis Grizzlies in March, has the next best odds at +175. They're followed by ex-Cleveland Cavaliers and Knicks assistant Johnnie Bryant (+350) and ex-Nuggets coach Michael Malone (+500), the two former favorites whose odds have dropped since the latest reporting.
