Alice in Chains cancels tour after drummer suffers medical emergency
Alice in Chains has canceled their tour after receiving unfortunate medical news.
The band announced their decision to call off their highly anticipated upcoming tour on social media on Saturday, due to the medical advice they received regarding drummer Sean Kinney's health.
'After careful consideration and following the advice of medical professionals, we have made the decision to cancel our remaining upcoming festival performances and the Alice in Chains headline shows,' the band's statement read. 'While we were all eager to return to the stage, Sean's health is our top priority at this moment.'
The statement didn't specify Kinney's exact diagnosis, sharing only that 'the issue requires immediate attention' and that 'his long-term prognosis is positive.'
They ended the statement by expressing their sincere appreciation for their fans' 'understanding and support during this time.'
Fans of the popular rock band were quick to flood the comment section on Instagram with well-wishes for Kinney, while also praising the band for putting his health ahead of the tour.
'Get well Sean! The stage will still be there when you're better and so will the fans,' one follower wrote in the comments section.
Another added, 'Love to see a band that respects it's members enough to put the most important things first. Respect. Best wishes to Sean.'

News of the cancellation comes shortly after the band canceled their concert at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Montville, Connecticut on May 8, after Kinney 'experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency' during the soundcheck.
Had the group not canceled the show in Connecticut, it would have been the first time they performed on stage together in over a year, as their last show together was at the Sick New World festival in Las Vegas in April 2024.
In addition to canceling their tour, they also canceled upcoming performances in Nashville and Atlanta, as well as appearances at various music festivals, including MMR*B*Q, Sonic Temple and Welcome to Rockville. As of now, their only scheduled performance is during Black Sabbath's final concert in the United Kingdom in July, according to the band's website.

Alice in Chains was formed in Seattle in 1987, with Kinney playing the drums alongside bandmates Jerry Cantrell, Mike Starr and Layne Staley. Current band members, Mike Inez and William DuVall joined later, taking the place of Starr and Staley.
Throughout their time as a band, they have sold over 30 million records worldwide, received 11 Grammy nominations and were ranked number 34 on VH1's '100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock' special.

JoJo Siwa ‘Never Imagined' Being This Close to BF Chris Hughes: ‘It's Really Hard Because People Tear It Apart'
JoJo Siwa has been on a real rollercoaster ride over the past month. The reality dance star turned pop singer went from having her honor defended by housemate Chris Hughes on Celebrity Big Brother UK after homophobic comments from actor Mickey Rourke to breaking up with then-partner Kath Ebbs at the show's wrap party and then partnering up with Hughes. Now, reunited with Billboard's Tetris Kelly — he of the infamous 'Gay Pop' interview — Siwa says '30 days ago I would have never even imagined I'd be friends with Chris Hughes,' calling their now-official relationship 'the weirdest' idea. But, the heart wants what it wants, and, as of this week, the couple are Instagram official and appear to be inseparable. More from Billboard JoJo Siwa Goes Bed Selfie Official With 'Celebrity Big Brother' Cast Mate Chris Hughes: 'Not Platonic Anymore' Kneecap Announce Massive Wembley Arena Headline Show Drake & PARTYNEXTDOOR Announce '$ome $pecial $hows 4 U.K.' Tour Dates In the episode of 'Take Us Out' recorded at Burbank Priscilla's (watch the full video above), JoJo says that Hughes is now the closest person in her life, someone she would 'die for… when someone comes into your life and you enjoy it, you can tell.' That said, Kelly wondered how it's felt for Siwa to be figuring out her sexuality in front of the whole world. 'It's really hard because people tear it apart,' she says of her full embrace of queer life. 'I understand if you have no context why people tear things apart… there's people going through this same thing that I'm going through. There's somebody who's identified as one sexuality and then maybe had this realization within themselves but they don't now feel they can't change or grow.' Siwa says she felt like she was being placed in a box she wasn't meant to be in when she came out. 'I've dated beautiful women, I've date beautiful non-binary people, I have dated men… but I realize that's just who I am. I realize for myself that I just like humans.' Siwa also touches on her excitement in the run-up to her 22-date An Unforgettable Night Out summer tour, which kicks off on July 10 in Houston, TX. 'I'm an adult now, which is crazy,' says Siwa, 22, about her first outing in three years and first one as a legal grown up. 'There's elements in this show that make it a lot different than just a typical concert,' she explains about the show that will mix her songs with bits about her time on Dance Moms, funny sketches and JoJo the Bilbo references. She made a point of addressing that flap over the $900 'Dream Guest VIP' ticket offer, in which she told fans they would get to help her 'build the set' for the show. 'People did take that as actual building the set,' she says, making a wrenching motion. If you want to carry props out on stage, JoJo says that's fine, but that's not what she intended. 'The point was people are going to get to have their say in what we actually do that night,' she clarifies about allowing four die hards at each stop help put together that night's set list. In a vulnerable moment, Siwa talked about the trepidation she felt before releasing her March single 'Bulletproof,' in which she publicly embraced her queerness. 'Music is probably the thing I'm most insecure about,' she says. 'I think a lot of people have a lot of things to say and I think I've also done some things that have fueled that fire… it's vulnerable. And now it has put me in a place where I don't like to say I'm a singer.' She recalls opening up about that fear on Big Brother, where she proclaimed that she 'can't sing, but I can release a song. And I can make a point' while casually teasing that she's working on her first-ever full length album with her favorite production team, Rock Mafia. She admits that she's dying to be on the hit Peacock competition show The Traitors, while simultaneously pitching her own reality show starring all her best pals from previous gigs on Dancing With the Stars, Special Forces and Big Brother. Watch JoJo talk about 'Bulletproof,' 'Fighter,' balancing stage JoJo vs. real life JoJo and her tangled love life in the video above. And to make the vacation even dreamier, several members of the Drummond clan—including Paige's mother, Ree—commented! Read on to see pictures from Paige's honeymoon and discover the passport problem that almost stopped them from getting there. On Sunday, June 1, Paige, age 25, posted a variety of photos of her and her new husband, David, on the beaches of Costa Rica with the caption being 'photo dump! Pura vida!!' The snapshots included them golfing, eating, drinking, going on a boat ride, stargazing and of course, sunbathing. Following that initial posting, Paige's mother, Ree Drummond, a.k.a. The Pioneer Woman, her sister and brother joined in on the conversation and shared their love and support for the newlyweds. 'DREAMY!!! Welcome home, you two. Now the real fun begins,' Ree commented. While Alex, Paige's older sister, wrote, 'FAB but so glad you're in Dallas now.' Paige's younger brother, Bryce, also chimed in, writing, 'Love the yella' on the carousel of photos. It was the first time Paige had posted since her wedding day in May. Thankfully, the universe was looking out for the newlyweds because according to the youngest Drummond daughter, 'he got one in less than 24 hours' thanks to the Dallas passport agency. 'An eventful first 48 hours of marriage to say the least,' Paige joked. The Pioneer Woman herself also poked fun at the incident, saying, "I gave Paige a 100% guarantee that the second she was lying on the beach on their honeymoon, she'd laugh about this wrinkle," according to her website. Ree has been married to her husband Ladd since 1996, and they have four kids together. They also recently became grandparents after their eldest child, Alex, welcomed her daughter, Sophia, with her husband, Mauricio Scott, in December 2024. Since then, Ree and Alex have shared several photos of baby Sofia, and they have also shared a ton of photos of Paige's bridal journey, including things like dress shopping, bridal parties and of course the actual wedding. 'Nothing sweeter than watching my sister marry the man of her dreams,' Alex wrote on Instagram in May. 'Welcome to the fam, Dave!'
