Union Home Minister Amit Shah
would formally rename the stretch of Lala Lajpat Rai Marg road to Bodofa Upendranath Brahma Marg and unveiled the statue of Bodofa.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma
and his Delhi counterpart Rekha Gupta, along with Pramod Boro, Chief Executive Member, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh, Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary, Welfare Minister of Bodoland Urkhao Gwra Brahma and All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) President Dipen Boro would be present in the event.
The renamed stretch is an 835-metre and 50-feet wide road located near Kailash Colony Metro Station, passing alongside the Bodoland Guest House.
The May 1 ceremony would be organised by the Assam government, and it marks the 35th death anniversary of the iconic Bodo leader.
ABSU has decided to illuminate five lakh earthen lights and candle lights on May 1 in every household and public place across Bodoland Territorial Region and Assam.
ABSU President Dipen Boro, said, "Bodofa Upendranath Brahma dedicated his life to building an inclusive society where people could live with dignity and secure their rightful place."
The ABSU President said that naming of a road and installation of his statue in the heart of the national capital is a proud moment for all Bodo people.
He added: "It was the commitment of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the memorandum submitted by ABSU at the Parliament House on December 6, 2024, and announcement for naming of Upendra Nath Brahma Marg and statue at the open session of 57th Annual Conference of All Bodo Students Union held at Dotma, Kokrajhar, on March 15."

Washington: Tara Chand, President of Baloch American Congress, on Wednesday slammed Pakistani Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir for making nuclear threats, calling him a "fake Field Marshal" and an "enemy" of humanity. This comes as Munir, during his US visit over the weekend, warned that Pakistan will never allow India to choke the Indus River and will defend its water rights at all costs, even if the forces will have to destroy any dam that India seeks to build on it. Chand, also a former Cabinet Minister in the Government of Balochistan, took to X and posted, "Pakistan's fake Field Marshal, General Asim Munir, who has threatened in America to destroy India and the world with his nuclear bombs, should be ashamed of himself. He is the number one enemy of humanity, driven by the madness of religious extremism under the banner of Islam. He seeks to destroy the world along with India." Flagging it as a wake-up call, the US-based Baloch leader called on the world leaders to take back all of Pakistan's nuclear weapons and impose economic, political, and international sanctions on the country. Raising concern, Chand stated that before "religiously-motivated" Pakistan and its leadership can act on their destructive ambitions, their nuclear weapons have to be removed in order to prevent the rogue state from bringing harm to the world. Munir, the Pakistani media reported on Monday, visited two US cities over the weekend and flew to Belgium on Sunday after completing his second high-profile trip to the United States in less than two months. Earlier in May, Chand wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and lauded India's decision to hold the Indus Water Treaty in abeyance. He also urged New Delhi to provide support to the "free Balochistan" movement. On behalf of the Baloch community in America, he extended his gratitude to PM Modi for the stance India has taken regarding the plight of the Baloch in Pakistan since 2016. "Your mention of Balochistan in your speech at the Red Fort was welcomed by the Baloch worldwide as a sign of moral support for a nation occupied, subjugated, and terrorised by Pakistan. It gave great hope to my Baloch people," the letter mentioned. "I laud your wise decision of holding the Indus Water Treaty in abeyance and making it clear to the jihadist generals of Pakistan that blood and water cannot flow together," it added. He mentioned that since Pakistan's occupation of Balochistan in 1948, the Baloch people have been severely oppressed by the machinery of the rogue state. Chand slammed the jihadist Pakistani Army for the countless forcible disappearances and killings of the people of Balochistan. He described the abuses as a part of the strategy adopted by Islamabad to suppress the freedom struggle movement of Balochistan, which the people have been waging since Pakistan forcibly annexed Balochistan. The Baloch leader had requested the Indian government to adopt a policy of political, moral, and diplomatic support for the Baloch national resistance against the occupation of Pakistan.

Centre ready to send additional NDRF teams to State in view of heavy rain forecast: Kishan Reddy
The Centre is ready to send additional National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams to Hyderabad and Telangana if necessary in view of the heavy rain forecast for the next couple of days, informed Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy on Wednesday. Mr. Kishan Reddy, also Secunderabad MP, has dialed Union Home Minister Amit Shah to inform him about the weather forecast and requested him to send extra NDRF teams. Mr. Shah is reported to have told him that already some NDRF teams have been put under the State government control and more will be sent depending upon the situation. The Minister urged citizens to move from low level areas likely to become flooded, avoid travel unless required, stay away from water bodies, power equipment and not to open manholes. With the heavy rains upstream, the Musi river has been receiving heavy inflows and this could have a cascading effect in certain districts and the twin cities too. Meanwhile, Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao stated that the party cadre is ready to assist the government in providing help in the areas likely to be inundated due to the heavy rains forecast till the weekend by the MET department. The party cadre will be assisting the authorities concerned in helping people move from the potential flood zones, supplying food packets, drinking water, essential medicines and others, he said. Welcome CBI probe In a separate press release, the party chief has welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to transfer the probe of the daylight murder case of lawyer advocate couple Gattu Vaman Rao and his wife P.V. Exclusive: DRDO Guest House Manager Was Spying On Top Scientists For Pak
A 32-year-old man working as a manager at a Defence Research and Development Organisation or DRDO guest house in Jaisalmer was arrested Wednesday for allegedly spying for Pakistan. The accused man, Mahendra Prasad, working as a contractual employee at the guest house for the last five years, had access to personal information, like emails and telephone numbers, of the top scientists, which he is accused to have shared with Pakistan. After a week of intense joint interrogation, the accused was arrested by the Rajasthan police and taken in for a two-day police custody. Mahendra Prasad was the manager at the top secret DRDO guest house inside the Chandan Field firing range in Jaisalmer. This guest house hosts India's top scientists when they come to Pokhran and Chandan for experiments and testing of India's missile and defence systems. No civilian is allowed inside its premises. Its location, somewhere inside the Chandan field firing range, remains a mystery. Intelligence Bureau sources expressed surprise that a person on contract, an outsider, was given the task of managing a high-security guest house. MR Enterprises, a private company, was given the lease to run this guest house, hosting India's top scientists working on secret projects. "It's a serious security breach that as Manager of the guest house Mahendra Prasad was privy to information via letters and emails informing him about the guests who would be visiting Chandan with their names, ranks and in some cases personal details like mobile numbers," a top source told NDTV. The accused had information about scientists and defence personnel staying at the guest house. Sources say Mahendra Prasad passed on this information, in some cases entire emails, to his Pakistani handlers via social media channels and WhatsApp. His handler in Pakistan was a "colonel" with whom he communicated via WhatsApp, say sources. Chandan and Pokhran are two sites in the Thar desert where significant and crucial testing of new weapons and missile systems is held. Mahendra Prasad had access to emails about scientists or defence personnel staying in the guest house, what are their ranks and posts and the duration of their stay. He also knew if a group of scientists were visiting who would be the leader and who would be the subordinates in the team, information that could compromise national security especially since, say sources. Sources added that the may have given the enemy country a fair idea of the trials for defence systems going on in Chandan and Pokhran. The Pinaka Rocket system was one of the projects IB sources believe Mahendra Prasad could have leaked information on. The Pinaka rocket system was tested in Pokhran in April 2022 and again in August 2022. Two phones have been recovered from the accused, who is a native of Uttarakhand. A forensic analysis of his phone has revealed that he was in touch with his Pakistani operatives. Investigating agencies are yet to trace the money trail. However, they suspect that he could have been paid in cash. Mahendra Prasad was working at the DRDO guest house during Operation Sindoor, India's counterstrike for the April 22 terror attack in J&K's Pahalgam, as well, making his arrest all the more crucial for intelligence agencies.
