Saints mids right on top
Al Paton
That clearance disparity is getting even more stark – St Kilda leading 33-15. And the Saints finally get some reward for their work with Dan Butler kicking their first goal of the half.
Ross Lyon has his old side worked out, and Hugo Garcia is doing a great job on Caleb Serong.

HT: Saints on top of Freo midfield stars
Al Paton
For the second time this season St Kilda's midfield is doing a job on the Dockers. At halftime the Saints lead clearances 25-11 and centre clearances 8-3.
They probably should be in front but have blown some chances in front of goal, kicking 4.8 to Freo's 5.5.
Rowan Marshall is having one of his good weeks – he's been huge so far with 15 disposals and a ridiculous goal, while Angus Brayshaw lifted that quarter to join Jordan Clark as Fremantle's best.
Jack Sinclair has had 10 disposals but has had almost no influence on the contest. He has 32 SuperCoach points at halftime.

Rowan Marshall what on earth
Al Paton
Rowan Marshall just kicked one of the most remarkable goals you'll see – volleying the ball out of mid-air from a throw-up 15m out from goal.
He absolutely flushed it and it sailed straight over the goal umpire's hat.
The big question – is that a clearance? A hitout to advantage??

Sigh of relief for Dawson captainers
Jordan Dawson has scraped by for SuperCoaches who captained him, finishing on 110 after a big last quarter. Izak Rankine finished on 98, just below the ton.
Dan Curtin scored a mammoth 151 points, with Sam Banks topping the scorers for the Tigers ahead of Dion Prestia and Toby Nankervis (both 97).

JC off to flyer for Freo
Al Paton
Jordan Clark scored 151 SuperCoach points against St Kilda last year and he's on track to match that today.
His first goal – thanks to a free kick and 50m penalty against Dan Butler – is his 11th disposal of the game, to go with five marks – and 61 SuperCoach points early in the first quarter.
The Saints answer through an unlikely source – Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera. He needed that after being mown down by Josh Treacy while taking a run down the wing a few minutes ago.

QT: Dockers have edge in arm wrestle
Al Paton
Rowan Marshall is the leading ball-winner at quarter-time with nine disposals, eight of them kicks.
Jordan Clark has eight while Jack Sinclair and Jack Macrae have seven each for the Saints.
Quieter start for Andrew Brayshaw and Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, who have just three each. Brayshaw hit the target with all three of his and added two tackles to sit on 20 SuperCoach points, while Wanganeen-Milera has a direct clanger, no tackles and 4 SuperCoach points.

'The Alger-ithm is right': Tiger cubs make their mark
Luke Trainor and Jasper Alger have both recorded their first goals at AFL level. Trainor, the grandson of superboot Doug Wade, nailed a set shot from 40 metres out, while Alger had a tricky goal from the square slide off his boot.

Alger then slotted another one from 45 metres out on an angle.

Where's Nas?
Al Paton
Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera came into this game in red-hot form, averaging 120 SuperCoach points in his past four games.
But he has been barely sighted so far, with his one kick going straight to Docker Andrew Braywhaw.
He has just 6 SuperCoach points closing on quarter-time.

Saints' surprise tagger call
Al Paton
Ace tagger Marcus Windhager appears to be assigned to … no one.
He seems to be playing as a forward while Hugo Garcia goes head-to-head with Caleb Serong in the centre square. Serong has taken full advantage, racing out to 21 SuperCoach points midway through the first term.
Luke Jackson is playing as a midfielder – opposed to Jack Steele – with Sean Darcy in the ruck.

Tiger Tom finally gets a win
Al Paton
Tom Lynch will break into positive SuperCoach points after his first goal of the afternoon.
It's been a rough day at the office, getting terrible delivery and harrassed and outnumbered by Crows defenders – which led to a third-quarter report – but that was some reward for the Tigers' best ball movement of the day.

NRL SuperCoach 2025: Mastermind's final verdict on top round 22 buys
The NRL SuperCoach watchlist returns for round 22 as we push into the final six rounds with head-to-head finals a week away and trades running low with seasons on the line. The watchlist has been tightened up. This time of year we don't need anything but the best of the best and a few POD options with massive upside. This week six of the bottom seven sides play finals-bound teams (the Knights are the exception on the bye). It looms as a big scoring week that should kill off a few seasons and open the floodgates in the rounds ahead. First up, SuperCoaches can just draw a line through the Rabbitohs. The squad is decimated with injury and suspension with scoring SuperCoach scoring upside nowhere to be seen. They have the bye in round 26, head-to-head grand final week when you'll want all your money on the field to win it anyway. The injury-hit Dragons are another team I've skipped over entirely on the watchlist for now. Three tough fixtures ahead should sink their season. The teams jostling for spots in the bottom of the top eight are the ones I'm eyeing off. The Sharks, Panthers, Dolphins and Broncos are feeling the pressure from the Roosters and Sea Eagles behind them but also within reaching distance of a top four spot if the Warriors falter. There is plenty to play for and a great run of fixtures to target. Check out the pick of the trade targets in the watchlist below. Hughes solution The injury to Melbourne Storm halfback Jahrome Hughes is the biggest problem for SuperCoaches this week and while the obvious answer is to fall back into a Nathan Cleary and Nicho Hynes combo at halfback. With just six weeks to go a POD play could pay off - the margin for error is smaller. Broncos halfback Adam Reynolds against the Rabbitohs this week could go huge. Isaiya Katoa is in red hot form fresh off a bye and has the Titans on head-to-head grand final week. Sam Walker has scored well on return from injury for the Roosters and has a very juicy Rabbitohs match in the final round. Daly Cherry-Evans usually storms home at the back end of the season and has the added motivation this will be his last at Manly. Cowboys Origin hero Tom Dearden has some appeal for head-to-head coaches but the Cowboys won't play the final round which could be tricky for those already holding Scott Drinkwater and looking to move up the ranks in Classic. Captain's call The most popular option is a VC on Herbie Farnworth against the Warriors and a C on Nathan Cleary against the Titans. The Panthers match is simply too good to ignore. Cleary has a 91PPG average against the Titans including a personal best score of 225. Other VC options worth a look are Cameron Munster and Harry Grant against the Eels or Reece Walsh against the Rabbitohs. I'm leaning towards a VC on Cleary with Nicho Hynes in my flex position allowing me to get both halfbacks in the captaincy mix. Hynes has a career average of 90 against the Cowboys with scores in the past three seasons of 86, 142, 126 and 108. Tedesco has centuries in his past two against Manly and Bulldogs offload machine Jacob Kiraz shifts to fullback against the Tigers. SuperCoach watchlist explained To help with your trade calls and to track players of note we've pulled together our SuperCoach watchlist with a quick form guide alongside their names so you can at a glance see what we like about each player. The boxes players want to tick are... Form: F (Strong recent performances) Draw: D (Weak opposition to target in coming month) Minutes: M (Consistent minutes and job security) Base: B (Reliable scorer through workrate on tackles and hit-ups) Value: $ (Value buy) $$$ (Buys of the week) NRL Finishing in the last spot on the ladder may dictate the future of some coaches and plenty of players - we break down the spoon contenders and reveal who is favourite to win the worst prize in rugby league. NRL From watching Cronulla at Shark Park to signing a multimillion-dollar NBA deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Tyrese Proctor is set to become rugby league's unlikely ambassador in America.

Lyon won't be seduced by Saints' record-breaking win
St Kilda coach Ross Lyon has warned his players against being "seduced" by their last-quarter heroics in the record-breaking comeback win over Melbourne. As the Saints' media and marketing departments milk Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera's match-winning feats for all they're worth, Lyon has shifted his focus to Sunday's dead rubber against North Melbourne. "It was obviously a special moment but we're just on the AFL treadmill," the 58-year-old said on Friday. "Got up the next day, opened the computer and started working ... that's the space we're in, and we're not seduced by the last quarter. "We were disappointed with some aspects of our game in the first three quarters, so the pragmatic side of me says don't get caught up." St Kilda recovered from 46 points down against Melbourne to win after the final siren in what was the greatest fourth-quarter comeback in AFL/VFL history. Leaked footage from a post-match club function showed Lyon hoisting out-of-contract star Wanganeen-Milera onto his shoulders during raucous celebrations. "There's certainly a window of opportunity to build some social capital with each other and come together and enjoy the human side, and that's what we did," Lyon said. "We just had a bit of fun. In some ways it's good to have people see the other side because there's perceptions created that aren't reality. "Hopefully that debunks some of those myths." The victory was St Kilda's third since the opening month of the season, with a dozen losses in that period. The dismal run has left the Saints (6-13) well and truly out of finals contention with four home-and-away matches left to play. The sobering statistics might serve Lyon well in his attempts to refocus the playing group for the clash with North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium. The AFL-owned venue will screen a replay of the final quarter against Melbourne immediately before the Kangaroos encounter, inviting St Kilda fans to revel in the historic moment. But Lyon doesn't feel any great need to remind his players to avoid getting caught up in the hype. "Look, it's our last home game, it's one o'clock Sunday, so I think it's a really good marketing exercise. "I think you've got to leverage your really good moments and we're proud of that moment, and I think our fans and members should indulge. "But our players, we've just got to be hard-nosed pros, which we are." Wanganeen-Milera is still yet to announce his playing future as St Kilda desperately attempt to re-sign their star playmaker. The 22-year-old, originally from South Australia, has Adelaide and Port Adelaide trying to lure him home and Lyon is unsure whether he is any closer to making a call. "Not that I'm aware of ... in the fullness of time we'll all know the answer," Lyon said.
