The Dacia Bigster, a larger SUV based on the Dacia Duster platform, has achieved a 3-star safety rating at the Euro NCAP crash tests. This rating reflects the SUV's performance in side-impact protection and its ability to mitigate whiplash injuries, and the overall safety.
The Dacia Bigster is equipped with six airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, and load limiters. It features a front passenger airbag cut-off switch, a seat belt reminder, and Isofix child anchor points. To enhance its crash test performance, the vehicle includes Advanced Emergency Braking (AEB) for vulnerable road users and motorcyclists, AEB for car-to-car collisions, speed assistance, lane assist, and a system for detecting driver fatigue and distraction. Adult Occupant Protection
The Dacia Bigster achieved 27.7 points, equivalent to 69%, in the Adult Occupant safety assessment. During frontal offset crash tests, the passenger compartment proved to be stable, providing good protection for the knees and femurs of both the driver and front passenger. However, the driver's chest protection received a weak rating. In the full-width rigid barrier test, chest protection for both the driver and rear passenger was deemed marginal. The side impact tests yielded excellent protection for all critical body areas, resulting in maximum points. Despite this, the absence of measures for far-side impact protection led to a poor rating in that category.
Child Occupant Protection
The Dacia Bigster scored 42 points (85 percent), in the Child Occupant Safety Assessment Test. Both 6- and 10-year-old child dummies were well protected during frontal and side impact tests. The vehicle allows for the front passenger airbag to be deactivated for the use of rearward-facing child seats, and it provides clear guidance to the driver about this feature. However, the Duster lacks a child presence detection system.
Vulnerable Road Users
The Dacia Bigster scored 38.2 points, or 60%, for pedestrian and cyclist protection. The bonnet offers decent protection in most areas, but the base of the windscreen and its pillars provide poor safety. The autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system works well for pedestrians and cyclists but lacks features like cyclist door prevention. Pelvis protection is poor, while femur protection is good. The knee and tibia protection had mixed results.
Safety Assist Systems
The Dacia Bigster received 10.3 points, or 57%, for its safety assist features. These include an advanced eCall system, monitoring for driver status, and a lane support system that gently keeps the vehicle in its lane. However, it doesn't have some advanced features found in other models, such as rear-seat occupant detection and comprehensive AEB, which lowered its score in this area.
While the Dacia Bigster continues to be unavailable in India, the third-generation Renault Duster is expected to debut in the country later in the first half of 2026. After the Duster, its 7-seater sibling, the Renault Boreal, is also planned for a later launch.

Speaking at a recent press conference, Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, emphasised that India remains a key market for the company and that its previously disclosed product strategy remains on track. Nissan India had earlier announced that it will be launching a new seven-seater B-segment MPV as part of its future lineup in the country. This takes the upcoming product pipeline to a total of four new models, including a five-seater and a seven-seater C-SUV alongside a mass-market EV. Nissan has stated that the B-MPV, as well as the five-seater C-SUV, are currently in the pre-production phase, and both will be launched in 2026. With development underway, let us take a look at what's expected from Nissan in the coming years: Renault Triber-based seven-seater B-MPV: The first of the upcoming cars from Nissan will be a seven-seater B-MPV based on the Renault Triber while carrying a unique design. Nissan will kick things off with the upcoming B-segment MPV, expected to launch in early 2026. This three-row seven-seater will be based on the CMF-A+ platform that currently underpins the Renault Triber. However, it is being positioned as a standalone model rather than a simple rebadged iteration, and Nissan has stated it will bring a distinct design and interior. This MPV is expected to carry over the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder that powers the Triber with 71 bhp and 96 Nm of torque, mated to either a five-speed manual or automatic. Renault Duster-based five-seater C-SUV: Nissan is also developing a five-seater mid-size SUV for India. Based on the CMF-B platform, it shares its underpinnings with the Renault Duster with a distinctive exterior and interior design. The second model from Nissan to hit the streets will be a five-seater C-segment SUV, expected to launch later in 2026. This SUV will be based on the CMF-B platform that underpins the Renault Duster. The automaker says the model will borrow design cues from the globally available Nissan Patrol and will offer a high approach and departure angle. The upcoming mid-size SUV will take on the likes of the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. It will be manufactured locally at Nissan's Chennai plant and is expected to carry over the 1.2-litre three-cylinder mild-hybrid that drives the Duster. Dacia Bigster-based seven-seater C-SUV: Nissan will follow up the MPV and the C-SUV with the launch of a seven-seater SUV, expected to launch by 2027. This model will be based on a longer wheelbase version of the CMF-B platform that underpins the Dacia Bigster, a stretched-out iteration of the Duster. However, Nissan has confirmed that the model will feature a distinctive exterior and interior design and will not be just a stretched-out version. It is expected to be positioned against premium seven-seater SUVs such as the Hyundai Alcazar and the MG Hector Plus. Now, Renault has been working on a mass-market Kwid EV for some time, and it is expected to be rebadged for the Japanese automaker. The Kwid EV is itself based on the Dacia Spring EV, which is powered by a 26.8 kWh battery, promising a single-charge range of up to 225 km. It comes with features such as a 10.1-inch infotainment display, a 7-inch digital cluster, ADAS, and more. Interestingly, the CNG kit with the Magnite is a retrofitted one, which means that these CNG kits are not factory fitted, rather fitted at the dealership level. The fitment of these kits will be carried out at government-authorised fitment centres. Nissan stated that the CNG Kit is fully developed, manufactured & Quality Assured by Motozen (3rd Party) as per country Regulatory Standards. Motozen will provide warranty for Kit components which will include a 12 kg single CNG cylinder. The rollout of this eco-friendly CNG kit fitment for the sustainability-aware and environment-conscious customer will be done in a phased manner across the country. In the first phase, Nissan customers can order the CNG kit installation via Nissan authorised dealerships in 7 states, namely Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala and Karnataka. Here's what to expect Nissan Magnite CNG: Specs The CNG kit option is available only with the New Nissan Magnite 1.0 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with the 5 speed manual gearbox. While the carmaker is yet to reveal the official power output and fuel efficiency figures, it is expected that the CNG powered Magnite will generate less power as compared to the petrol powered variants. This is common across every brand. Meanwhile, the fuel efficiency is expected to increase as with every other CNG vehicle. Nissan Magnite CNG: Features In terms of features, the 2024 Nissan Magnite continues to get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster with enhanced graphics, push start/stop button, automatic climate control, and USB Type-C ports. However it misses out on an electric sunroof. Furthermore, the Magnite now includes a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, and Hydraulic Brake Assist. Nissan Magnite CNG: Price The CNG retrofitment kit will be available across all the variants at an additional cost of ₹ 75,000. Euro NCAP has now released the crash test results of the Volkswagen Tayron. The Volkswagen Tayron secured a 5-star rating in the overall crash test, recording 87 percent in adult occupant protection, 85 percent for child occupant protection, and more. Here is a details analysis of Tayron's safety ratings, as observed in the European test bed. The Volkswagen Tayron scored 87 percent in the AOP crash test. The 5-door SUV showed good stability in the frontal offset test, the dummies suggested that the Tayron provided effective protection to the front passenger's femur and knees. The observation of the impact trolley suggests that the Tayron might give effective protection to the passengers sitting inside, while the vehicle might pose a risk for the ones in the front. The Tayron scored maximum points in the side barrier test, suggesting good protection to the passenger's vital body areas. However, the side pole impact on the chest was recorded as marginal. VW Tayron Euro NCAP test result The Volkswagen Tayron scored the maximum points in the segment in the Child Occupant Protection test, scoring 85 percent. Also, the driver gets an option to deactivate the airbag system in order to attach a rear-facing child seat. It gets ISOFIX on all seats, ensuring a safe ride for the child. The Tayron gets an autonomous emergency braking system in order to ensure adequate safety for vulnerable pedestrians and cyclists. It scored 83 percent on the Vulnerable Road Users test. Euro NCAP noted that the Tayron provides adequate safety to road users, safeguarding their knees, femur, and pelvis. However, it fails to recognize the pedestrians behind the vehicle.
