Eagles massive offensive tackle prospect named the one undrafted free agent to watch PFF named former Rutgers road grader Hollin Pierce the one Eagles undrafted free agent to watch for the 2025 NFL season
Jeff Stoutland has a history of developing massive offensive linemen, and the Eagles veteran coach and run game coordinator landed himself another potential gem in former Rutgers tackle Hollin Pierce.
The reigning Super Bowl champions signed the Trenton, New Jersey native to a contract as an undrafted free agent shortly after the conclusion of the NFL Draft in April. Philadelphia has a solid track record of identifying talented undrafted players, and Reed Blankenship has developed into a Pro Bowl-caliber safety.
PFF recently looked at the undrafted free agent to watch, and Pierce was front and center for the Eagles.
There may not be any more room on the Eagles' roster for offensive linemen. Howie Roseman and company traded for Kenyon Green, signed Kendall Lamm and Matt Pryor, and drafted Myles Hinton and Drew Kendall — all to back up the team's entrenched starters.
Still, Pierce is a prospect to watch at Eagles training camp. He surrendered only two sacks across more than 800 pass-blocking snaps from 2023 to 2024 at 6-foot-8 and 341 pounds. Those measurements compare favorably to left tackle Jordan Mailata, whom the Eagles and coach Jeff Stoutland developed from a seventh-round draft pick into a second-team All-Pro.
Pierce is a 6-foot-8, 341-pound prospect who graduated from Trenton High and started 51 games over the last five years at Rutgers, including every game at left tackle in 2023 and 2024.
Pierce joined the Rutgers football program in 2020 as a walk-on and lost 100 pounds after weighing 455 pounds at one point.

Commanders' 'Best Offseason Move' Low-Hanging Fruit

Commanders' 'Best Offseason Move' Low-Hanging Fruit originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Washington Commanders weren't the squashbuckling team that added a host of free agents and had over 10 draft picks this offseason, but that doesn't mean it wasn't productive. Advertisement In fact, one could argue that this offseason was better than the one 12 months ago. Granted, that is in the eye of the beholder, and the roster is in a different spot than a year ago. But with only two big moves made, with Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil traded for to fill two key offensive positions, finding Washington's best piece of business isn't too hard. CBS Sports has landed on the trade for Samuel. "Is Samuel a durable game-breaker going on 30? Maybe," CBS Sports wrote. "Maybe not. Still, Washington added the former 49ers star for a single fifth-round pick. That's a potential steal given his fit as a rugged multipurpose weapon opposite the field-stretching Terry McLaurin. It's just nice to see this team isn't sitting on its hands with the dynamic Jayden Daniels under center." Washington, District of Columbia, USA; Washington Commanders wide receiver Deebo Samuels (L) and Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels (R) wave to the crowd from courts wide during the game between the Washington Mystics and Atlanta Dream at CareFirst Arena. Geoff Burke-Imagn Images What Deebo could do for an offense that was equally as dangerous running or passing the football last season is tantalizing. Advertisement As a runner, Samuel can be the power-packed weapon who can pick up tough yards, but also break the odd 20+ yard run. As a receiver, his YAC ability is something that causes defensive coordinators to have sleepless nights due to his tough running style and ability to stand up in tackles and fall forward for extra yards, a notable feature. Yes, Tunsil will protect Daniels better than Brandon Coleman, but Deebo will be where all the eyes are in 2025 as he could be the lightning rod that propels this team to Super Bowl glory. Lions Receiving Strong Interest From Veteran Pass Rusher

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions were the best team in the NFL during the 2024 season. However, they were unable to win a game in the playoffs. After compiling a 15-2 record throughout the regular season, the Lions were quickly defeated at home by the red-hot Washington Commanders in the Divisional round of the playoffs. That loss has sat with them all offseason. Despite the pain of the loss, Detroit is expected to be one of the top Super Bowl contenders in the league again in 2025. They also have key players, such as Aidan Hutchinson, back from injuries that knocked them out before the playoffs. One area of need could be the pass rush, especially to protect from potential injuries like the team dealt with last year. Keeping that in mind, Za'Darius Smith, who is currently a free agent, has shown major interest in returning to Detroit. Of course, he was acquired from the Cleveland Browns ahead of the trade deadline last year and finished the season with the Lions. During a recent interview with USA Today, Smith made it clear where he wants to play. "We both know where I want to be," Smith said. "Hopefully, I can get back to Detroit because the coaching staff and everybody in the front office are great. When I'm there, I feel like a leader and like I can influence the young guys and do great things. Hopefully, I can get back to where I want to be in Detroit." Smith also talked about how he thinks he could help Hutchinson continue improving. Read more: Lions Trade Idea Would Land Shedeur Sanders From Browns "I'm still a veteran. He's still a young guy. I can help him with many things. He's already great, but as a player, there are some tools that I know that I can help him with," Smith said. "And there are some things as a young guy that he can help me with." Most of this situation will depend on the financial aspect of it. Smith may need to take a discount if he wants to play in Detroit. This vocal interest from Smith in the Lions could hint at a willingness to take less to play for the franchise. Only time will tell, but this is a potential fit to watch for Detroit. For more Detroit Lions and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

Formula E's Miami E-Prix returns in 2026 with a new site — Hard Rock Stadium

FIA's Formula E electric car racing series will run its 2026 Miami E-Prix at the same site as FIA's Formula 1 runs its Miami Grand Prix — the Miami International Autodrome at Hard Rock Stadium. The Formula E event on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, won't use the same 3.36-mile (5.41 kilometers) track used for the annual F1 race, rather one of four shorter configurations. Unlike the F1 course and accompanying event fuss, none of the four options will affect access roads to or from Florida's Turnpike. Nor will it alter life at the nearby Miami Dolphins facility, on the chance the Dolphins are still playing. The Formula E event falls six days after the AFC Championship Game and during the Pro Bowl weekend between Championship Sunday and the Super Bowl. This will be the third venue in three Miami E-Prixs. In the series initial season, 2015, the event — practice, qualifying, race all in one day — ran on a downtown Miami course that included Biscayne Boulevard and the then-AmericanAirlines Arena. This year's return to Miami-Dade, despite scant local promotion and media coverage, drew 18,000 to 20,000 to Homestead-Miami Speedway. For comparison, that beat at least two days of qualifying and racing during March's NASCAR weekend at Homestead. And, there's a permanent road circuit at Homestead. But, Formula E prefers life on those downtown streets or at least closer than 35 miles (Homestead-Miami Speedway to the Freedom Tower) or 63 miles (Homestead-Miami Speedway to downtown Fort Lauderdale). 'It's a bit far from the city center, which is not what Formula E is about,' Formula E co-founder and Chief Championship Officer Alberto Longo said Monday. 'We like to be as close to the city as possible. We have always liked to say, 'We're bringing motorsport to the people' not the other way around, to have to get in your car and drive for one and a half hours to get there.' Longo felt that solid crowd got swallowed by Homestead's massive grandstands, saying 'If you saw that when we were racing in Paris, it would be amazing because the grandstands would be full.' Also, 'the cars are going to look way better at [Hard Rock] than Homestead.'
