
Al Suyoh Council discusses community initiatives
The meeting was held to review the latest developments in community plans for the coming period. It was chaired by His Excellency Yousef Obaid Harmoul Al Shamsi, Council and attended by Council members.
"Eid Fawala": authentic Emirati custom
During the meeting held on Wednesday, the Council reviewed the most prominent topics and initiatives on its agenda. Members also discussed details of the implementation of the "Eid Fawala" initiative (Eid food supplies), which was organised on the second day of Eid Al Fitr. The initiative aims to promote community cohesion and embody authentic Emirati customs and traditions, which are keen to strengthen social ties during special occasions and holidays.
Honouring supportive residents
The Council also proposed an initiative to honour collaborators from the suburb's residents who have contributed to supporting the Council's activities and programmes over the past period. This gesture of appreciation aims to stimulate greater community interaction and recognise the efforts of community members. This reflects the Council's commitment to building effective and sustainable partnerships with the suburb's residents.
Honouring top students
The meeting also addressed the Council's agenda for upcoming initiatives, whereas it proposed the launch of an initiative to honour top students from Al Suyoh suburb. This initiative expresses the Council's pride in its distinguished members and encourages them to continue their journey of success and excellence.
Raising awareness activities
In the context of collaborative work with government agencies, Council members discussed holding several exhibitions that would allow the suburb's residents to interact with service institutions and learn about their services.
During the meeting, the Council was keen to place special emphasis on awareness-raising activities. It was decided to coordinate the organisation of an awareness lecture for school students on combating drugs, in cooperation with the relevant authorities. This is part of the Council's efforts to raise awareness among young people and promote a culture of risk prevention, contributing to strengthening society and achieving intellectual and behavioral security for its citizens.
Meeting residents' needs
During the meeting, His Excellency Yousef Obaid Harmoul Al Shamsi emphasised the importance of continuing to implement quality initiatives that meet the aspirations of residents and enhance the Council's role as an effective community umbrella.
Al Shamsi noted that the Council is committed to supporting everything that contributes to building a cohesive, aware, and integrated society. He also noted that Al Suyoh Suburb Council continues its efforts to meet the needs of residents through various activities that combine social, awareness-raising, and honorary activities, in line with the directives of SDAD, which seek to enhance community communication and achieve the Emirate of Sharjah's vision of building a cohesive society based on cooperation and initiative.

SEC approves unified guide for commercial signage in Sharjah
At the outset, the Council extended heartfelt congratulations to President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and to all the Rulers, citizens, residents, and Muslims on the occasion of the approaching Eid Al-Adha. It also commended the allocation of AED 55.8 million to the Sharjah Programme for Training and Qualifying Jobseekers — a move that underscores the Ruler's commitment to supporting citizens, boosting employment, and enhancing quality of life and professional development. Al Hamriyah Port fire response applauded The Council expressed its deep appreciation for the swift and professional response by national teams to the recent fire at Hamriyah Port. It noted the high level of readiness, coordination, and effective crisis management, particularly by Sharjah Police, the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Interior, National Guard, Civil Defence, emergency and crisis management bodies, and other local and federal authorities. Their efforts successfully prevented any loss of life. Unified signage guide approved A new unified guide for advertising and commercial signage was approved to harmonise business branding with the emirate's visual identity and aesthetic appeal. The guide provides design principles, permit processes, and regulatory standards for signage, aiming to create an attractive and well-organised urban environment. It covers categories such as shop signs, directional signage, and promotional boards, along with placement criteria and supervision protocols. Sharjah reinforces family and social values The Council reviewed several ongoing social initiatives aimed at strengthening Emirati families, nurturing intergenerational bonds, and upholding national, cultural, and religious identity. These efforts are part of Sharjah's broader social vision to preserve community values while supporting growth and cohesion within local households.

UAE President orders release of 963 inmates ahead of Eid al-Adha
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday ordered the release of 963 inmates ahead of Eid al-Adha. His Highness also pledged to settle any financial obligations incurred as part of the inmates' sentences in a gesture of goodwill marking the holy occasion. The President's initiative aims to give the released inmates a chance to "start a new life, strengthen family ties, and instill the values of forgiveness and compassion in society." The Emirati head of state most recently ordered the release of 1,295 inmates from correctional institutions in the UAE ahead of Ramadan this year.
