1 Kanwar Pilgrim Dead, 3 Injured After Their Bike Collides With Tractor In UP
One Kanwar pilgrim died while three others sustained injuries after their motorcycle collided with a tractor in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district, police said.
The incident occurred in the Asmauli police station area when a group of Kanwariyas, heading towards Haridwar to collect Ganga water on Saturday, attempted to overtake on a narrow stretch of road leading to Urha and crashed into an oncoming tractor.
Speaking to media reporters, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajesh Kumar Srivastava said, "Some Kanwar pilgrims travelling by bike to Haridwar to collect Ganga water, overtook on a narrow path in the Asmauli police station area on the route to Urha, during which they collided with a tractor."
ASP Kumar further added, "Three people are injured, and one has died. The victim's identity has been confirmed, and the body has been sent for postmortem. The injured have received primary treatment at Sambhal District Hospital. From here, they have been referred to Moradabad. Everyone has cooperated."
Meanwhile, Moradabad Municipal Corporation's 'Jatayu Van' has deployed HD drones for surveillance of the Kanwar routes to ensure a smooth and safe pilgrimage for the devotees.
The live feed of the drone camera is being sent to the integrated command control centre through 'Jatayu Van' for monitoring of the routes.
The feed is also connected to the mobile phones of the officers for quick and effective coordination to ensure devotees do not face any challenges during the pilgrimage.
The Moradabad Municipal Corporation is also setting up a massive Shiv Darbar, featuring a 30-foot-long idol of Lord Shiva, to welcome all the Kanwar Yatris. Along with this, a special resting place, a Kanwar Yatra shed, has been made with a capacity of over 100 people.
'Sawan' holds a special place in Hindu mythology. Devotees undertake fasts and offer prayers to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva during this period. The chanting of Shiva mantras, singing bhajans (devotional songs), and performing Rudrabhishek (ceremonial bathing of Shiva Lingam with holy substances) are common practices observed with fervour across households and temples during the 'Sawan' month.
This year, Sawan month commences from July 11 and will conclude on August 9.

Gang of 13 sexually assaulted boy in Outer Delhi, stabbed him 24 times; suspected he was informer: Cops
On July 1, a teenage boy was found dead near a water treatment plant (WTP) in Outer Delhi. His post-mortem report has now revealed that he was allegedly sexually assaulted before being stabbed 24 times, said police. According to police, the boy was killed allegedly by 13 people — many of them minors — as they suspected he was an 'informer' for incarcerated gangster brothers Monu and Sonu, also known as the Bandhwa brothers. Police had earlier arrested two men and apprehended four juveniles in connection with the case. Three more people were arrested on July 18 from Meerut; police said they had tried to disguise themselves as kanwariyas. 'One of the accused and two juveniles took part in the Kanwar Yatra… they were in a kanwar camp in Meerut. Police personnel also disguised themselves as kanwariyas to enter the camp and arrested the accused,' an officer said. A total of 9 people have been apprehended in the case, including the main accused. Police said the main accused had allegedly been beaten up by the Bandhwa brothers last Nove-mber and blamed the victim for it. He and his group abducted the victim on June 30, before they sexually assaulted and stabbed him one by one, the officer claimed. The incident came to light on July 1, when police received a PCR call at 3.10 pm regarding a body found near the WTP. On reaching the location, police discovered the body in the Munak Canal, with a scarf tightly wrapped around his neck and multiple stab wounds. A case under BNS sections 103(1) (murder) and 238(b) (causing disappearance of evidence) was registered. Later, the investigation had revealed that the murder stemmed from personal enmity between the deceased and two brothers from the same locality, said police. Police said Section 6 of the POCSO Act has been added to the FIR. 'The main accused had suspected that the victim and a couple of his friends were informers and had connived with the Bandhwa brothers to assault him last Diwali. He was planning revenge for a long time. On the intervening night of June 29-30, he and and seven others gathered together and planned to execute the murder,' DCP (Outer North) Hareshwar Swami had said.

On the intervening night of June 29-30, accused and his associates arranged knives and stopped the victim, beat him up and abducted him on a motorcycle. (Unsplash/Representational Image) The boy was found in the canal with stab wounds and blunt force injuries to his private parts, a police official told PTI news agency on Friday. Ten out of the thirteen people involved in the crime are in police custody, including the main accused, Krishna alias Bhola, aged 19. Accused believed victim was informer for his rival Krishna allegedly planned the murder as he believed that the victim was an informer of his rival gang, the Badhwar brothers, Monu and Sonu. On the intervening night of June 29-30, Krishna and his associates arranged knives and stopped the victim near Veer Chowk Bazar, beat him up and abducted him on a motorcycle. The boy was then taken to a spot near the Munak Canal, where he was stabbed and sexually assaulted. The Badhwar brothers, who had assaulted Krishna last year, are currently in jail after they were charged with the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) for carrying out several illegal activities, including illegal liquor trade and robberies. On July 1, Samaypur Badli Police Station received a PCR call at 3:10 pm regarding a body in the Munak Canal. 'A young male dead body, which was slightly decomposed, was found lying completely naked with a scarf wrapped around its neck in Munak Canal and several stab wounds all over the body,' Deputy Commissioner of Police, Hareshwar Swami, said. The body was later identified as that of a 14-year-old boy, and a case was registered. Later, the postmortem report revealed the brutality of the crime involving 24 stab wounds, along with 'blunt force in the anus', confirming that the boy was sexually assaulted, a senior official told PTI. Three accused hid as Kanwar yatris Meanwhile, the police said that they were able to track one of the minors through his social media activity. Three of the accused were traced in Haridwar, who were trying to pass off as Kanwar yatris and were staying at the Kanwar camp in Meerut. To catch the three accused, police disguised themselves as Kanwariyas and entered the camp to avoid causing trouble on the night of July 18. During the investigation, the three accused confessed to the crime and revealed the names of three more accused, Deepak, Chandan and Sachin. Police said that they are working with the legal team to ensure maximum punishment for the accused, seeing the heinous nature of their crime. 'Since most of the accused are minors, we will appeal to the court to treat those above the age of 16 as adults,' the officer said. (With inputs from PTI)
