A pair of UFC veterans will co-headline UAE Warriors 60.
Light heavyweights Tanner Boser (21-10-1) and Vinicius Moreira (14-8) square off June 13 at Space 42 Arena from Abu Dhabi and airs on UFC Fight Pass. A person with knowledge of the matchup informed MMA Junkie of the news but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
Boser became a free agent after completing his contract with the UFC in 2023. He was headed to the Global Fight League where he was drafted to Team London, but after GFL was forced to cancel their first scheduled events, he opted to stay active elsewhere. The 33-year-old Canadian hasn't competed since defeating Aleksa Camur at UFC on ESPN 50 in August 2023.
Meanwhile, Dana White's Contender Series alum Moreira has stayed busy since failing to notch an octagon win in four attempts. After getting released from his UFC contract in 2021, the Brazilian went 5-3, but he's on a four-fight winning streak. He captured the Jungle Fight light heavyweight title with a submission of Andre Miranda this past October.

Caio Borralho: Reinier de Ridder not in title picture, at least three guys ahead of him

Caio Borralho thinks Reinier de Ridder hasn't done enough to enter the UFC title conversation. De Ridder (21-2 MMA, 4-0 UFC) outlasted former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker (26-9 MMA, 17-7 UFC) in this past Saturday's UFC on ABC 9 main event at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. De Ridder has won four fights in eight months, but Borralho (17-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) doesn't think his resume quite stacks up with rest of the top contenders in the division. "That was a very, very close fight, but I think Whittaker didn't do enough to win this fight," Borralho told Submission Radio. "I think De Ridder actually won the fight even if it was close, but I don't think this is a fight that makes him a backup or in a position to be coming for the belt, or even the loser of (champion) Dricus (Du Plessis) and (Khamzat) Chimaev. There are at least three other guys in front of him in the division. There's Anthony Hernandez, there's me, there's Brendan Allen with 12 wins at middleweight, there's (Nassourdine) Imavov. There's a lot of other guys in front of him. He just beat Bo Nickal and then he beat Whittaker, but to be honest, Whittaker wasn't even there. "I feel like Whittaker is kind of in his last fights, and he wasn't there in the moment – he wasn't present. He was too pressured, you could see it in his face. It's not like you're winning over the Whittaker we know. You're winning over the Whittaker we've never seen before, so it doesn't put him in the position to go for the title or anything like that. I think he needs at least two more fights. And don't get me wrong –– the guy is doing great work. He's finishing his fights. He's very good on the ground. But I don't think he passed through some prime guys in the UFC in the top 10." Borralho revealed that the UFC contacted him to be the official backup for the middleweight title fight between champion Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev in the UFC 319 headliner on Aug. 16 from Chicago. Just a few weeks later, Borralho is scheduled to face Nassourdine Imavov (16-4 MMA, 8-2 UFC) in the UFC Fight Night main event Sept. 6 in Paris.

U.S. tennis star Coco Gauff through to the fourth round of National Bank Open

MONTREAL - Top-seeded Coco Gauff of the United States has reached the fourth round of women's singles at the National Bank Open in Montreal. Gauff, the world No. 2 in women's tennis behind Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus, defeated Russia's Veronika Kudermetova 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 on centre court. With Sabalenka withdrawing from Montreal due to fatigue, Gauff remained the favourite in women's singles. She continued to overcome mediocre serving as she committed 14 double faults to Kudermetova's one. The American had double-faulted 23 times in a three-set win over countrywoman Danielle Collins on Tuesday. Toronto's Victoria Mboko was the only Canadian remaining in women's singles. The 18-year-old was scheduled to face Czechia's Marie Bouzkova in a later match. This report by The Canadian Press was first published July 31, 2025.

On this day: Kevin Garnett dealt to Boston; Larkin, Collins signed; Pruitt waived

On this day in Boston Celtics history, the storied franchise would trade for Minnesota Timberwolves star big man Kevin Garnett ahead of the 2007-08 season that would end in hanging Banner 17. The Big Ticket had initially been reluctant to agree to sign an extension with the Celtics should they deal for him given the dearth of high-level talent on the roster save for forward Paul Pierce. But, a move that brought sharpshooting UConn product Ray Allen on board earlier that summer was tantalizing enough for Garnett to seal the deal. KG would agree to sign a three-year extension to add to the two remaining seasons on his existing contract. The history-altering deal was consummated soon after. The South Carolinian was dealt for Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, Gerald Green, Theo Ratliff, cash, and draft considerations. Garnett would win a title with the team in 2008, be elected Defensive Player of the Year that season, make five All-Star games, and earn many more such honors during his six seasons with the team. Five years before that date, in 2012, ex-Celtics center Jason Collins signed a contract with Boston. The Stanford product played a mere 32 games with the franchise that season before he would be traded to the Washington Wizards in February 2013. He averaged 1.2 points and 1.6 rebounds per contest over that stretch. It is the date in 2009 that Boston waived one-time Celtics guard Gabe Pruitt, who had been drafted by the team out of USC with the 32nd pick of the 2007 NBA draft. The Los Angeles native put up 2 points a game across 62 games played in two seasons with Boston. Today is also the date of the first game the Celtics played after the 2019-20 NBA season had been interrupted by the pandemic the previous March. It was a 119-112 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks might have gone the other way had not a late charge against Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo not been overturned, which veteran Celtics guard Marcus Smart protested vigorously. "Quite frankly, I think we know all what that was all about. Giannis' sixth foul and they didn't want to get him out," Smart said via the AP. "Let's just call that spade a spade and that's just what it is." Today is the birthday of Celtics short-timer Mel Hirsch, who was born on this day in 1921. The Brooklyn College product played 13 games for Boston in their inaugural season of 1946-47 and averaged 1.5 points per game. Hirsch shared his birthday with Boston big man Tony Massenburg, who came into the world in 1967 in Sussex, Virginia. Massenburg played his college ball at Maryland, playing stints with the San Antonio Spurs and Charlotte Hornets before playing through a pair of 10-day deals with the Celtics in 1992. He would return to the team in 1997 as a free agent but was traded to the (then) Vancouver (now Memphis) Grizzlies for Roy Rogers. The Virginia native logged 1.4 points and 1.3 boards per game while with Boston.
