International Yoga Day today: Madrasas, Sarvodaya Schools across UP to mark day

The International Yoga Day will be marked across the state with participation from all the Madrasa Board affiliated Madrasas across the state on Saturday. Sarvodaya schools run by the Social Welfare Department from Class 6 to 12 will also hold Yoga Day celebrations on the theme of 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health'. On this occasion, group yoga sessions will be organised in all the schools with the participation of students, teachers and staff, in which pranayama and various yogasanas will be done under the guidance of yoga teachers.
Along with this, awareness will also be created on the benefits of yoga and its importance in life, which will help the students a lot in reducing stress and increasing concentration.
Uttar Pradesh MoS minority welfare, Muslim waqf and haj, Danish Azad Ansari will be participating in Yoga Day Celebrations at Warsia Madrasa in Gomti Nagar. The UP BJP minority morcha chief Kunwar Basit Ali will also participate in Yoga Day celebrations at Warsia Madrasa.
Ansari said, 'Yoga is performed with the aim to keep the mind and body fit and healthy. Yoga Day will be celebrated across all the Madrasa Board-affiliated madrasas across the state in an attempt to spread the message of physical and mental fitness.'
Ali said, 'We are going to organise Yoga Day celebrations across the state. Yoga is meant for all and we all know that our PM Narendra Modi got international recognition for Yoga, and today the entire world knows the importance of Yoga.'
On the other hand, special programmes will be organised on Saturday in Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya schools run by the social welfare department. This year's theme is 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health', which reflects the global spirit of keeping oneself and the whole society healthy.
The UP social welfare department is running 100 Sarvodaya schools with residential facilities from Class 6 to 12 for the students of economically weaker families across the state. Along with quality education in these schools, the facility of free coaching for competitive exams like JEE and NEET is also being provided.

Lucknow/Varanasi, Jun 20 (PTI) On the eve of the 11th International Yoga Day, Uttar Pradesh has made elaborate preparations for mass participation across cities, from the ghats of Varanasi and Prayagraj to Ayodhya, and parks across Lucknow, Kanpur, Mathura and Ghaziabad. The initiative aligns with this year's theme — 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health' — and is designed to promote a year-round culture of health and wellness. Lucknow now has nine yoga parks, including at Gulab Park, Swarn Jayanti Park, and ED Park. Kanpur features spaces like Nana Rao Park and Buddha Park, while Jhansi leads with 12 parks, followed by Mathura-Vrindavan with eight. Ayodhya and Firozabad have three each, while Ghaziabad has developed 10. In Varanasi, yoga will be practised at locations like Namo Ghat, Assi Ghat, Ravidas Ghat, and Shaheed Udyan. On Friday, specially-abled children, slum dwellers and senior citizens gathered for a special yoga programme at Mahanagar in the state capital under the aegis of Lucknow University, organised by yoga practitioner Roma Hemvani. Saurabh, a specially-abled child, performed aasanas while another performer, Srishti Kashyap, enthralled the audience with a yoga dance involving young kids, while Kartik Hemvani performed 'jal yoga'. Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been selected as an 'iconic spot' for Yoga Day, where events have been scheduled across the city, with the main programme to be held at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Cabinet minister Suresh Khanna will attend the event as the chief guest, while Union minister Anupriya Patel will be present at Assi Ghat. In Prayagraj, 'water yoga' will be performed at the Sangam, for which instructors are teaching children to perform asanas in the water. Ayodhya is expecting a big turnout at Ram ki Paidi, where around 4,000 people, including seers and public representatives, will perform yoga on Saturday morning. Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will lead a mass yoga session at Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur on Friday morning to mark the 11th International Yoga Day . The session, scheduled to begin at 6am, is expected to witness the participation of nearly 1,500 people, including public representatives and citizens. Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan and jal shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh will also be present at the event. Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya will lead a yoga session in Prayagraj while Dy CM Brajesh Pathak will participate in a similar event at the Residency in Lucknow. Several cabinet ministers will lead yoga events across districts. As part of its efforts to promote yoga as a daily health practice, the state govt has developed more than 100 Yoga Parks across urban areas. Built according to the Ministry of Ayush's standards, the parks reflect this year's International Yoga Day theme, "Yoga for One Earth, One Health." The event aims to set a world record through synchronized participation across institutions at 7am, following directives from the Governor Anandiben Patel. KGMU vice chancellor Prof Soniya Nityanand has instructed all faculty members, staff and students to take part in the event. Balrampur Hospital will also organise a special session from 6:30am to 7:30am at its new OPD building. Similar events will also take place at district hospitals such as Lokbandhu, BRD and SPM Civil Hospital. Supporting the widespread observance, upper nagar ayukta Lalit Kumar said around 300 parks under LMC will host yoga activities.

Experts from India and Nepal shared their insights. A renowned yoga and Ayurveda expert Sadanand Sharma emphasised the significance of yoga and meditation. A special International Yoga Day T-shirt was unveiled during the event. Krishna Pandey from Nepal discussed the physical impact of yoga asanas. Among other speakers were Pradeep Kumar, customs superintendent Rajeev Pandey, SSB assistant commandant Shivam and Nepal's Sardar Amreek Singh.
