Discover new perspectives at Cairo Photo Week 2025, where this year's theme, "Finding the View," invites you to explore the world through diverse lenses and voices. Curated by Cairo-based photography school Photopia, Cairo Photo Week will present a programme of exhibitions across Downtown Cairo, including 'Sard IV', an exhibition that presents visual and written photo stories from Egypt and the Arab world.
'Sard' (meaning "narrative" in Arabic) showcases work from both established and emerging photographers. The exhibition highlights a range of social, economic, and cultural issues relevant to contemporary life, including youth, public spaces, women's experiences and coexistence.
Breaking new ground this year, the exhibition introduces an audio component that pairs sound with photography to create a richer, multi-sensory storytelling experience. This aims to enhance the storytelling experience by complementing the visual narratives with sound.
The open call is available to professional and emerging documentary photographers from Egypt and the Arab world. Eligible projects include completed stories, works in progress, and long-term projects. Submissions with unrelated audio, such as background music not tied to the story, will not be considered.
The exhibition will take place from May 8th to May 18th, 2025. The submission form can be found on @cairophotoweek's Instagram page, with the submission deadline being March 5th, 2025.
